Ah, welcome to my world!

I get such a kick out of getting reamed on my talk page for the deletion of content which the original poster shouldn't have posted in the first place. Anyone here actually read the YFA section? Le sigh...--PMDrive1061 (talk) 22:41, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

PS: I deleted the talk page of that idiot that J. Delanoy blocked under WP:DENY. Just another greasy, pimple-faced adolescent who spends way too much time on Encyclopedia Dramatica and who isn't intelligent enough to really contribute. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 22:44, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Suspected sockpuppetry

I thought that we were going to get blocked for something awesome; not sockpuppetry. ;) -t'shael mindmeld 00:45, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Shaddup, Vulcanface. :-P I'll get blocked for something big, like, er, deleting the main page! ...if I had tools, that is. Vicenarian (T · C) 00:49, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
I was told in IRC the other night that you can nominate it for speedy deletion with Twinkle... -t'shael mindmeld 00:52, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
1) I'm not THAT gullible, Vulcanhead. 2) I try to stay off IRC for just that reason... people give you crazy ideas. :) Vicenarian (T · C) 03:52, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Agreed. I try to only go in there when I'm working on ACC. Though the CVU channel is fun at times; it makes up for me not being able to Huggle from this computer. -t'shael mindmeld 04:37, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

LOL!

Oh my, some things just never go away.  :) On a more positive note: I think we may be rid of the little scourge at last. All of his pet articles and his IPs are blocked for at least three months each and he's been quiet as a result. I blocked User:Starwarslover101 yesterday as a fairly obvious but half-hearted attempt and had them run a CU. No other socks and no edits from this account a la his usual "good sock/bad sock" protests. It only took him ten months to get the message. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 00:50, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Maybe he found a new hobby? Coin collecting? I'm a bit of a numismatist myself.
So... when do we find the time to, you know, create content? Vicenarian (T · C) 03:54, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Baar (reality TV)

You see, I don't have a TV. I don't know what reality TV shows are about. This one has turned out to actually be notable, but since I don't know what it was about, or even when it ran or on what channel, I started by a placeholder and I'm filling the details in as I research this topic.

Be patient; rushed deletion will bring nobody any profit. ΔιγουρενΕμπρος! 19:32, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

That's fine, but work on it in your userspace first. Create it here and move it out when it's ready. Vicenarian (T · C) 19:34, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
My real problem with your actions here was the removal of the speedy deletion tag. There's a process - using the {{hangon}} tag to indicate you disagree with the speedy deletion of your article. Removal of speedy deletion tags from pages you create yourself is specifically prohibited, and as an experienced editor you should know that, and you were told that, and you were repeatedly warned, but you removed the tag again and again. Vicenarian (T · C) 20:07, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
For future reference, it might have been a good idea, once Digwuren gave you this explanation, to re-tag the article along with {{hangon}}. He should know the process with his long experience, but for new users this can show them that someone knows they are contesting the deletion, and resolve the situation. It's not mandatory, just an idea I had. Mangojuicetalk 20:46, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
That's a good idea, I'll try to do that in the future. In fact, I've had a new user or two remove the tag, followed by article reversion and warning two or three times, finally get the message and use hangon. Digwuren was removing the tag so fast, though, it probably wouldn't have done any good. Vicenarian (T · C) 20:52, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Dylan620

I've been thinking of asking Dylan to adopt me. Since you are one of his Padawans, I thought I'd ask you what your opinion of him as an adopter is first. -t'shael mindmeld 21:47, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

I see that you have PRODded this article. I guess I just wanted to say thank you; I was going to do it but thought that it might be a little "iffy" coming from me. Thanks again, -t'shael mindmeld 01:06, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

No problem. You can probably tell I watch both your and PMDrive's talk pages very carefully, LOL. I took a look at that and thought, "It may not be a copyvio, but..." Vicenarian (T · C) 01:08, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
I've noticed that the more mistakes I make, the more popular my talk page has become... ;) -t'shael mindmeld 01:09, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Haha, that's usually the case around here, I find. Vicenarian (T · C) 01:15, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Ah well, I suppose with the amount of CSD tagging I do I am bound to make mistakes. At least I didn't get suspended on ACI for stealing requests...:) -t'shael mindmeld 01:21, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

(outdent)What was that I said before about getting WP:WQA on your Vulcan behind? :) Shoo, go tag. I'm actually going to try working on an article. Vicenarian (T · C) 01:23, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Actually, I think I may go watch the Laker game. Let me know when you get your article written and I'll be sure to incorrectly tag it. ;) -t'shael mindmeld 01:26, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the poke.  :) GO LAKERS! I used to go The Forum when I was a kid. I can honestly say I saw guys like Chamberlain, West, Hairston, Goodrich, Baylor, et. al. actually play. PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:28, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

It's a gift. Besides, I can sorta kinda watch this site and still do my job. PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:30, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

So can I, until my boss strolls into my cubicle. :) Vicenarian (T · C) 01:34, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

A Favour

Will you look at this and tell me what you think? -t'shael ,Lord of the Vulcans 15:20, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

It looks good, Lord Vulcan. My only concern is that since it's a WP:BLP, you should probably err on the side of using inline citations. I would also look for third-party references, news sources and the like. I'm sure teh Google could pull some. Otherwise, nice! Vicenarian (T · C) 15:29, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for your sage advice, O Good Article Reviewer. :) -t'shael ,Lord of the Vulcans 15:31, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
(e.c.) Also, I'd comment out anything that adds the article to a category for now, including the stub tag. Users might accidentally stumble upon it in your user space through categories... Vicenarian (T · C) 15:32, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Ah, I didn't think of that. Good idea. -t'shael ,Lord of the Vulcans 15:33, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

(outdent)If you get a chance, would you mind looking at it again? I added some references as well as some inline citations. Thanks :) -t'shael ,Lord of the Vulcans 16:09, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Beautiful. I would consider moving the The Michigan Daily link into a section called "References," and changing the name of your current "References" section to "Notes." (The news article isn't really an EL so much as an additional reference, albeit an uncited one.) Also, I would also encourage formatting the cites with citation templates. Cite web is the simplest, I find. Vicenarian (T · C) 16:36, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Goodness gracious. This is more work than I thought..;) -t'shael ,Lord of the Vulcans 16:43, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Is this what you meant? -t'shael ,Lord of the Vulcans 17:07, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Beautiful. Move it out onto the main page this instant, young man! (PS: This is an alternate account for Vicenarian. See User:Vicenarian.) Tricenarian (talk) 17:10, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Thank you, alternate me. Not surprisingly, regular me concurs. Why has this not been moved yet? Do it before I do... :-P Vicenarian (T · C) 17:35, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

(outdent/ec) Hah. Sorry, I stepped away for lunch. :) -t'shael ,Lord of the Vulcans 17:36, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Lunch? We don't get "lunch." We work on WP! *cracks whip* But yeah, this is why I'm so lazy about creating pages on my own... to make a good one, it takes a lot of work! Vicenarian (T · C) 17:38, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Hmm.. now it has a cite error on it. Mind taking a look? This wiki-formatting can be a pain, at times.-t'shael ,Lord of the Vulcans 17:40, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, you have to put the cite templates in the ref tags, and then use {{reflist}} to display the reference list in your Notes section. Here, I'll clean it up for you. Might as well do something productive, since today's even slower at work than usual. Vicenarian (T · C) 17:46, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Ah, thank you. :) -t'shael ,Lord of the Vulcans 17:49, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

(outdent)Tah dah! This could be the start of a beautiful friendship. Wait, that's a quote, I'd better cite it... Vicenarian (T · C) 17:57, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Ah, that looks lovely. :) Thank you. Do I need to delete user:T'Shael/Scott Boerma or not? -t'shael ,Lord of the Vulcans 17:58, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
You don't HAVE to do so (I think), but if you want to keep your user space clean, I don't see why not. You can request speedy U1, it'll be deleted right quick. Vicenarian (T · C) 18:01, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
If it's not mandatory, I may not mess with it. :) A little clutter in the userspace is a good thing. Oh, and I really appreciate your help with this, my second article. :) -t'shael ,Lord of the Vulcans 18:03, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm happy to help! I almost do better editing other people's work than I do creating my own. In fact, I'm actually going to cite this article in my essay WP:PRIMETIME as an example of how pages SHOULD be created. :) --Previous unsigned comment by that doofus Vicenarian, who constantly forgets to sign his damn talk page comments

(outdent) Before you do that, perhaps you should start signing your comments? ;) -t'shael ,Lord of the Vulcans 18:10, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

I know what you mean about editing other people's work. I agree. I'm considering an RfA in October, and content creation is something of which I have very little and this seems to be frowned upon. Alas. -t'shael ,Lord of the Vulcans 18:17, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Re

Never again will I put "if you have any questions feel free to ask me on my talk page" anywhere on Wikipedia..;) -T'Shael, Lord of the Vulcans 18:24, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Too bad that's included in pretty much EVERY standard Twinkle notification template, lol. Vicenarian (T · C) 18:27, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Hmm.. you're right. I'll just have to chase them down and then blank that part out. ;) -T'Shael, Lord of the Vulcans 18:37, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Re: Making Kids Cry?

On V'Shael's talk page, were you talking about me, because I wasn't crying and I'm not a kid (I'm a pre-teen! There's a difference). BriMaster2 (talk) 20:24, 14 June 2009 (UTC) BriMaster2

Don't worry, I was just teasing T'Shael. I know you weren't crying. Whatever your age, welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like it here. Vicenarian (T · C) 13:20, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Heya!

It's your adopter. Sorry that I've been gone for so long, I've been very busy IRL. I see that you've gotten access to ACC since I last checked up on you! Let me know when you're ready to start Lesson #4: Article writing. Cheers! Dylan620 (Toolbox Alpha, Beta) 16:27, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Not a problem. I know how distracting real life can be. :) Yes, definitely ready for article writing! I've gotten my hands dirty pretty much everywhere else. Now I want to create some content. Vicenarian (T · C) 17:02, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Hello, Vicenarian. You have new messages at User:Dylan620/Adoption/Vicenarian/lesson4. Cheers, and happy editing! Sincerely, Dylan620 (Toolbox Alpha, Beta).

Another Bambifan sock, another Bambifan block.

Thanks much to you and to Cactusjump for alerting me to "Our 'Deer' Little Bambi." You two have become among my favorite users on this site for your friendliness as well as your diligence. In plain English, you guys rock. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 20:14, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

*blush* Thanks, it was really all Cactus. I just took one look at those edits and edit summaries and got a familiar chill. Vicenarian (T · C) 20:25, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

I know the feeling, dude. Cactusjump earned one of these and you certainly have as well:

The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
For conspicuous gallantry in the face of a very persistent vandal, it is my honor and privilege to bestow this Anti-Vandalism Barnstar upon you this day. You more than earned this and I only wish there was a better way to express my gratitude and that of the others who volunteer their time on this site. PMDrive1061 (talk) 20:27, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Thank you, my brother-in-arms.  :) Gotta run, but take care and keep up the good work. You da bestest. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 20:30, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Ah, nothing like a little dessert right after lunch and before I hit the road to go to work. Thanks much. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 20:32, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

I must agree with PMDrive1061. While I haven't had any experiences with Cactus, you are quite an asset to this site. :) -T'Shael, Lord of the Vulcans 20:51, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Thank you all! It's nice to be appreciated. Vicenarian (T · C) 21:15, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

See all the fun that 7 and I had last night? Not as impressive as you getting 14 admins to converge on a single user page, but interesting nonetheless. ;) -T'Shael, Lord of the Vulcans 12:26, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Yes, my admin attracting powers are unmatched - but that's interesting. What was the wee one trying to do, exactly? Vicenarian (T · C) 13:41, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
He uploaded a picture of himself at Commons and was trying to create an article about himself using said picture. The only problems were: a) he is 11; b) he was putting his real name/place of residence in the article making it; c) fairly easy to find him. -T'Shael, Lord of the Vulcans 14:21, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
A+B+C = Trouble. Good going. Vicenarian (T · C) 15:20, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Ah, thanks. :) It was grand fun -- wish you could have been there. -T'Shael, Lord of the Vulcans 15:25, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

(outdent) I'm without a computer at home right now (defective LCD screen), so I'm only on at work, 13:00 - 22:00 UTC. Sorry I had to miss it. Vicenarian (T · C) 15:28, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Ah, that sucks. You should get a MacBook. But, it's nice that you can be on at work without getting into trouble (I hope?). -T'Shael, Lord of the Vulcans 15:35, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I suspect as much about the image as being a blatant copyvio... but where does it say on Gawker that the image is from AP? Tabercil (talk) 22:33, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Gawker doesn't say (although the file names for all the photos on that page begin with "AP"), but see this. The photos are mentioned as being AP. Vicenarian (T · C) 22:35, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Perfect. One more image goes DOA... Tabercil (talk) 22:37, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Many thanks! Vicenarian (T · C) 22:40, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Hmm... a half-dozen images down and I'm still hunting. Think I'll juct clear out the remainder as unsourced and note that uploader also uploaded a number of known copyvios. Tabercil (talk) 22:43, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Go for it. They're all doubtful enough, no need for the extra work. Took me a bit to find that page explicitly mentioning the AP as the source for the Megan Joy photo. Vicenarian (T · C) 22:46, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

NawlinWiki list of things that will get speedy deleted

Is it not the same as WP:STUPID? Or similar. 211.30.108.47 (talk) 13:45, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Certainly similar. A lot of editors who do new page patrol or speedy deletions come up with their own lists of things they see often. I happen to like NawlinWiki's. :) Vicenarian (T · C) 14:19, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Oops, metro train accident name change

I thought very, very carefully, taking all potential points of view. However, I forgot to look if there was a discussion. I will be more careful next time. But this shows that I am a very analytical and fair person because my own internal deliberations satisfied all points of view! User F203 (talk) 15:57, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Haha, not a problem. You not only solved the problem that people had with "accident," but also my earlier point that "Metro" is both a bus and rail system, so that "Metrorail" should be used to distinguish. However, the WP standard seems to be "Washington Metro" to refer to the train system. So yes, you solved all the problems without even realizing it. :) A+! Vicenarian (T · C) 16:01, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
I actually took that into consideration because I knew some people call it Metrobus and Metrorail. Also, read the BBC article carefully, near the bottom third, where it says the train was going in the lightly travelled direction (opposite the heavy commuter passenger traffic/going to suburbs). I'm going to give the article a rest for now. User F203 (talk) 16:07, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I see it now. Missed that the first time around. Vicenarian (T · C) 16:09, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

article name in introduction

Wikipedia has a bad habit of creating a name and using awkward language in the 1st sentence.

Nobody else uses the term "2009 Washington Metro train collision" or similar. We are creating an article name from original research. Since there is no agreed upon name worldwide, we do have to create a name but it doesn't have to be used in the introduction.

In WP, we usually use awkward language such as...

The 2009 Bombay bomb blast was a bomb blast in Bombay. Here, we are almost saying "The 2009 Washington Metro train collision was a train collision in 2009.". User F203 (talk) 21:14, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

The link you gave gives the exception!

If possible, the page title should be the subject of the first sentence.[2] However, if the article title is merely descriptive—such as Electrical characteristics of dynamic loudspeakers—the title does not need to appear verbatim in the main text.

This title is descriptive. It is not "Finland". It is not "West High School". It is a descriptive, Wikipedia-created name. You are a smart person who discussing things well, hence the discussion. I am not out to fight so I haven't discussed this in the talk page or RFC yet. User F203 (talk) 21:21, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

There seems to be 2 kinds of article with this weird and awkward prose, events and murders. "The Murder of Joe Wiki was when Joe Wiki was stabbed on January 1, 2001" or "The 2009 Bombay blases was when Bombay was bombed in a terrorist attack".

Correct me if I'm wrong. We both agree that it bad prose. We can't figure out how to change it. You cite the MOS. I cite a possible exception. But we both agree that it sounds poorly written. Is this accurate? If so, I will think of ways to improve the quality of WP writing. I just want a second opinion that it sounds less than perfect.

In contrast, articles for countries and people include the article title and are perfectly acceptable. "General Charles deGaulle (18xx-196x) was a French general and statesman...." or "Finland is a country in northern Europe..."

I hate seeing dozens of posts labelled "thanks" on talk pages, so I won't call this one thanks

Thanks for that Barnstar, I didn't realise I was funny (despite having multiple Good Humour Awards). Anyway, you can have this userbox if you want.

This user gave Spongefrog (or his sidekick Scribbes) a barnstar and is on a Non-Shame List.

Scribbles (ScribbleStick) is my sidekick. He doesn't seem to mind. Of course, if you don't want it, you don't have to use it. It's not very well made either. I'll soon add you to the non-shame list and your award to the page HERE. Spongefrog, (talk to me, or else) 20:26, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Thank you, I will display your userbox with pride. Don't forget your new title, Lord S-dogg. Vicenarian (T · C) 20:28, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
I won't, don't worry. I just got busy with someone cracking my anti-vandal system, so once I've updated it to fix edit tags within the article (you know what I mean) I'll add your barnstar to the barnstar page. Spongefrog, (talk to me, or else) 20:40, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
And now I have cracked it. Muhahahahaha! Vicenarian (T · C) 14:13, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

I'll make it better tomorrow. So that you can't crack it (but don't do it again, its annoying). I don't mind, but my page doesn't tell you to vandalise. I don't know where this rumour has sprung up, my page actually asks you to edit not to vandalise, which are not exactly the same thing. Who cares though. Spongefrog, (talk to me, or else) 15:07, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

I apologize if I have caused annoyance. I will desist. Clever system, though. Would confuse the heck out of most actual vandals. Vicenarian (T · C) 15:09, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

GA Question

What, in your opinion, are the chances of getting an article such as Creeping Death to GA status? -T'Shael,The Vulcan Overlord 16:01, 24 June 2009 (UTC 19:37, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

For starters, I smell a good deal of original research, especially the part about the lyrics and the plagues. Also, there are almost no references whatsoever. You could certainly get it to GA status with some work; outside sourcing would be a good first step. Vicenarian (T · C) 19:41, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Zionism

Please explain what was wrong with my recent edit that you reverted. The groups described were all Zionist, as a check on Irgun and Lehi confirms. Given that the previous sentence identifies them as Jews, I found your edit destructive. Please consider reverting it, as I do not wish to violate the 3r rule. If you disagree, please explain yourself on the talk page there.93.96.148.42 (talk) 02:20, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

I apologize if you felt it was destructive. The word "Zionist" often appears in vandalism, so it attracts a lot of attention. Your edit was in good faith and I apologize. However, I did not revert your latest edit. I see you have brought the issue up on the article's talk page. That's a good place to start building consensus for making the change. Happy editing! Regards, Vicenarian (T · C) 02:27, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Zionist or Zionist? Thank you for the apology.93.96.148.42 (talk) 02:33, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
You're welcome. Is your question about which version appears in vandalism, or which you should use? Vandals don't usually wikilink. :) Vicenarian (T · C) 02:35, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
I didn't think so. Any way of distinguishing between the two on the automated edit thing? Should be. Thanks.93.96.148.42 (talk) 02:46, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Autoconfirmation is too easy to attain

In which I am wise.

Four days and 10 edits just doesn't seem like long enough, or enough edits, for me. Thoughts? -t'shaélchat 01:19, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Well, from my experience, most vandals are "opportunistic" - they feel the urge to vandalize "in the moment" so they go ahead and do it right then and there. If they had to wait to vandalize, they'd probably find something else to do. Requiring a four-day wait hopefully weeds out all but the most determined of vandals, which are (relatively) easily dealt indefinite blocks. It's a matter of balancing the desire to allowi good-faith newcomers (like ourselves once were) to jump right in and the need to keep out the most pernicious of trolls. Are four days and ten edits enough? I'm not sure, but I see the wisdom in not extended the waiting period too long. Vicenarian (T · C) 01:25, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, when you put it that way, I see the wisdom in it. It just doesn't seem to do enough to stop trolls. Ah well, thanks for the "words of wisdom", as always. ;) -t'shaélchat 01:34, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Absolutely! Creating a new article (at least one that's up to MY high standards) all by myself is a daunting task. What did you have in mind? Vicenarian (T · C) 13:25, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
How about "Transcendental homelessness" or "Constitutional theories of criminology" which have been here for more than a year. That surprises me. Not least because I haven't got a clue what they mean. – B.hoteptalk14:25, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Uhhhh... what? Maybe there's a reason they've been requested for more than a year... Vicenarian (T · C) 14:29, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
I agree with Vicenarian, that's probably why they've been requested for over a year. I was thinking though, instead of creating a brand new article, that we could improve an article that's already here to GA or FA status. t'shaélchat 20:08, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Anything particular you had in mind, T? (Or, as we may soon be calling you, Javert. That's right, I stalk your contributions, I know allll about your usurpation request.:)) Vicenarian (T · C) 20:22, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

←"T" is fine, I can't be Javert for at least a week. ;) Impressive that you noticed this, though, as my usurpation request isn't even in the first 50 on my contributions page. Anyway, I could be selfish and say Ruthie Henshall, but it really should be an article that we're both interested in, that way neither of us finds it tedious. -t'shaélchat 20:29, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

lol, the nutshell is quite right. I'm just going to turn the situation with Nawlin into an essay. Not sure if I can use the history of his talk page in it or if that would be considered unacceptable. -t'shaélchat 21:35, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

←I think it would be acceptable, if NW gives you the go-ahead. Problem with that, though, is that I don't know if you can isolate a chunk of past page history out from more current page history - user talk pages are likely to change rapidly. You might be able to do so with some fiddling... I say go forth, young man. :-) Vicenarian (T · C) 21:41, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

I can copy it to a subpage in my userspace, and then link to that. Nawlin's talk page gets hit so much that I don't think this essay will ever link to anything not relevant. -t'shaélchat 21:42, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Not only have I read it, but I created a redirect to it. ;) -t'shaélchat 02:02, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Have you seen Wikipedia can wait? A good portion of that is pure Vicenarian-style humour. (With a "u," just for you.) Vicenarian (T · C) 02:05, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Actually, I haven't. I'm not sure that I have ever heard of it. Hmm.. -t'shaélchat 02:11, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey you stalker

In which I am thanked for stalking.

No, don't take that as an insult. In fact, I would like to thank you for helping me on Spongy's talk page. Cheers. :-)Rkr1991 (talk) 14:11, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

You're very welcome, anytime. I'm a "highly active user," usually from 13:00 to 04:00 UTC, so feel free to stop by anytime with a question. Cheers, Vicenarian (T · C) 14:12, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Adoption

In which I advise on adoption.

I want to be adopted, just like you. What do I do ?Rkr1991 (talk) 14:17, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Check out Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User for instructions. You can list your name there. Sooner or later, an adopter should stop by. You can also approach an editor open to adopting (you can find them at Adopt-a-User) and ask to be adopted by them. Vicenarian (T · C) 14:21, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Ok. Thanks. Rkr1991 (talk) 14:26, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

And I just did exactly as was given... thanks again for the link... Rkr1991 (talk) 14:39, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Glad I could help. As for the admins not responding to you, I wouldn't take it personally, because it's highly unlikely that it is personal. But I can't read minds (that would be nice, though), so honestly, I can't tell you why they haven't responded. Vicenarian (T · C) 14:41, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Admins are mean. :) -t'shaélchat 21:08, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

You's got some 'splainin to do

In which I steal again, WP:NOTMYSPACE is violated and Spongefrog (talk · contribs) has an awesome page HERE.

What is this? -t'shaélchat 22:19, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Why, is the administrator dashboard with the Signpost attached to the top, now known as VICENARIAN'S STATE OF THE WIKI REPORT. I plan to add other useful sections as well, some outside the purview of the dashboard. You are credited in a comment for inspiring me, if you check the page code. :-) Vicenarian (T · C) 22:22, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Anything else that you'd like? ;) -t'shaélchat 22:26, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Help?

In which I give help.

Hi Vicenarian, I got a message from you here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:97.65.82.99#June_2009 And I never made those changes! Is it possible my account was hacked? I'm really lost and don't know what to do. Thanks! Herbsandspices (talk) 17:41, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi there. Since that's an IP editor, there's no account hacking. If you have an IP used by others, it's very possible that it was someone else who made those edits. Anyone who reaches Wikipedia from that IP while not logged in could receive messages intended for others who have used that IP for mischief. (If no one else should be on your IP, it's possible someone has spoofed your IP or stolen your connection, but that's beyond my expertise.) The best way to avoid messages not for you is to do what you have done - create an account and log in. As long as you edit from your account and keep your password secure, you shouldn't receive any alarming messages. Hope this helps. Cheers, Vicenarian (T · C) 17:47, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! I have only ever made one change to Wikipedia, so my 120 day login must have expired, and I didn't ever log back in. Scary!Herbsandspices (talk) 18:07, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Likely so - your login is saved for a maximum of 30 days. When you first surfed to the page, the messages that popped up were for your IP, not you. But welcome back! I hope you enjoy editing; let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Vicenarian (T · C) 18:13, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks much for your help - I'm working with my IT group to get to the bottom of this. Herbsandspices (talk) 19:27, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Haha, no problem. I was going to random user pages the other day and noticed that and thought that you may like it. :) Best, t'shaélchat 20:43, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Sock puppetry again

In which I battle those who would break teh wiki. (And win.)

Hi there again Vicenarian! Do you think you could help me? I think Orsahnses is playing the sockpuppet game again. Their IP was recently blocked. I'm most certain that this Orsahnses evading their block again with the reason that their edit summaries and personal attacks are similar and the fact that the IP's are very similar. History. It seems that I've found another account used by Orsahnses, it's Orceous, and they were performing edits during the ban. The thing that I need help is what really to do since the case was already marked as archived. Elockid (talk) 13:37, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Well, Orsahnses (talk · contribs)'s block has expired, so it isn't clear-cut sock puppetry to evade a block. Unfortunately, I don't see enough evidence to link the blocked IP. However, I do suspect that Orsahnses = Orceuos (talk · contribs) and that he is trying to "start clean" with a new username. This is technically allowed. However, if Orceuos does start engaging in an edit war along the same line as Orsahnses, evidence of their similarity could be used to ask for a stricter sanction. But we assume good faith, so I hope that Orceuos will engage in constructive editing and discuss controversial changes instead of warring. Vicenarian (T · C) 13:53, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the help. I do hope that they discuss over the talk page for consensus. But judging from previous actions, it does not seem like it. Elockid (talk) 13:59, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Well, as I say, assume good faith, but when that faith is violated... Vicenarian (T · C) 14:01, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
