File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Tim DeKay.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Tim DeKay.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 17:27, 19 July 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 17:27, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:Tim Omundson.jpg[edit]

Have you got a link to the Flickr page where you got File:Tim Omundson.jpg? I want to verify that the image is under a free license. —C.Fred (talk) 03:21, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind. I found it (see below) and found out it's copyrighted, all rights reserved.

Do not upload copyrighted photos and claim a false license[edit]

Your two previous file uploads have been copyright violations, as the source Flickr images are noted as "all rights reserved." I suspect that File:Willie Garson.jpg may have the same problems. Non-free images like these may not be used for illustration purposes. Do not upload them, and do not upload images under a false license claim. Repeated violations may lead to your account being blocked.

If the images are truly under GFDL, you must provide evidence that they are so released. Just claiming them to be is not sufficient. —C.Fred (talk) 03:35, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry, but a Twitter exchange is not sufficient. You'll need an email from her stating that the images are hers and she is releasing them under Creative Commons and GFDL license terms—and that includes allowing commercial re-use of the images. The links in the deletion messages about requesting copyright permission have more information, including how to open a "OTRS" request to allow the images. —C.Fred (talk) 04:14, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Hello again. I have been able to email Tammyinlalaland regarding this matter. She graciously sent me the following email which I copied below. I forwarded Tammy's actual email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org so that the pictures I uploaded can hopefully be reposted. Please have patience with my newbie-ness, and 'Thank you' in advance, and let me know if there is anything else I need to do.
    • P.S. Would it be okay if I add a credit "from Tammyinlalaland" on the actual actor's page with their respective photos; or maybe footnote a credit for her? (She has some higher quality pics she offered to send me, and I may eventually change to better pictures somewhere down the line, providing my relationship with Wikipedia continues as I expect).

"The Paley Center for Media Psych and White Collar located at my Tammyinlalaland Flickr page images are mine and I hold the copyright on them. I am relasing releasing them under Creative Commons and GFDL license terms—and that includes allowing commercial re-use of the images.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at Tammyinlalaland@yahoo.com

Signed,

Tammyinlalaland.. " Watsammatta u (talk) 05:31, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
