Ways to improve Nagelfluhkette[edit]
Hi, I'm Robertgombos. Wimue, thanks for creating Nagelfluhkette!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Hello! The article looks great! I do add references when I patrol new pages but I don't not speak German, unfortunately. Could you possibly add some reliable references to your article? After doing so, feel free to PM me on the article's talk page or on my username's take page so I can patrol Nagelfluhkette if no one else will do so by then. Thanks!

Black Forest bibliography[edit]

I tried to integrate the sources of the Black Forest article into their respective paragraphs. My aim was to improve the readability. Moreover, the bibliography seems to take up a lot of space – at least compared to most other articles on Wikipedia, it seems to me.

- Hmm, I think this could be a result of my importing a lot of material from German Wikipedia where there is a tendency to use inline citations less and just to put sources and further reading under bibliography. So if we can link the sources more closely to the relevant paragraphs, that's great.
- That said, I'd be reluctant to lose relevant bibliographical material; there are quite a few Wiki articles with longer bibliographies than this one. And it's a topic that will have a lot of literature written about it - even by the Romans! So can we do the linking without losing most of the bibliography? - Hello Bermicourt,
- linking the sources more closely to the respective parapgraphs would not only improve readability but also help the reader finding the correct and corresponding sources. So I'm not quite sure why one would want to put sources in the bibliography where there is no chance to tell what information is supported by which source, especially if there are no citations in the running text.
- Yes, there are bibliographies on the German wiki (among them quite long ones, for that matter). It is useful to have bibliographies for further reading. However, I don't see why this practice (zero citations in the running text and all sources in the bibliography) should be adopted in other wikis since in my opinion it causes more confusion than clarification.
- In the future, I won't interfere with your source policy on this site. I have to say though that it would come as no surprise to me if paragraph after paragraph, the following notification would pop up: "This article needs additional citations for verification. [...]". As far as I am concerned, topic-wise, there seem to be enough sources in the bibliography that might back up the information in the 'Geology' paragraph. Still, the notification is a sign that at least one user criticises the lack of citations in the running text.
- If I was to save the sources – or, in fact, the whole article –, I'd put the citations to the corresponding paragraphs. I won't do the work since I don't know which source corresponds to what information. Which brings me to the original problem: if the information-source relation is not clear to the reader, putting the source at the end of the article is only useful as notice for further reading but not as a citation.
- As already mentioned, I will try to improve the article by adding further information and the corresponding sources or by linking additional sources but I won't fix the existing citation issue.

- I agree with you and, don't get me wrong, I wasn't suggesting we follow de.wiki practice which I think they're moving slowly away from anyway. I was simply explaining where it had come from. I have no problem with anyone providing inline citations; I just didn't want to lose relevant books. When creating articles from scratch, I put short inline citations in the text and the full reference in the bibliography, but I know other editors put the full reference in the inline citations. Hi Wimue! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Granular cheese that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you.
