Protecting pages

You can't protect an article just by adding a template like that. Only adminstrators can protect pages. I do not think the page needs to be protected, but ifyou would like the page protected, you can make a request at WP:RFPP. J.delanoy^gabs_adds 05:43, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

redirect for deletion

On redirects like the one you nominated, when they redirect into the user space, you can just tag them with CSD#R2. It's under the CSD tab in twinkle, and way at the bottom. Keep up the good work! --Terrillja _talk 15:31, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

San Beda College

While I applaud your efforts in removing non-notable entries from the list, I noticed that some of the people you removed as being "non-notable" are in fact notable enough to already have their own Wikipedia articles. I've reverted your edits and will go through the list, removing those without articles. Thank you for your understanding and patience while I worked on the list. I've trimmed it greatly but ended up leaving quite a few redlinks. When I couldn't find an article for someone, if the accompanying text indicated they meet Wikipedia's standards of notability then they were left in the list but with a redlink. For example, some of the athletes listed as Olympians didn't have articles, but the fact that they were Olympians means they meet the standard for WP:ATHLETE. In those cases, I left redlinks to hopefully prompt others to write articles about them. In many cases I was able to find articles for people whose names were slightly different from what was originally listed (leaving out the middle initial or nickname). I was able to tighten the lists considerably but there are still a lot of names there. You might want to look over the lists and see if you agree with my edits. I may have removed some from the list due to lack of information, but if you know they do meet Wikipedia's standards for notability then please feel free to add them back. I CAN'T provide old newspapers from 1960s but I can ATTEST to it. Even though U may have proofs of the so-called robust economy that Marcos claims in the 1980s then such could be inflated and NOT the real figures so that 1960s is SOLID in order to NOT mislead readers.

Please DON'T employ Pinoy Pride or crab mentality in arguing about this point because it is NOT my goal to besmirch Marcos (even though I'm pondering that U cud be on his side?, as I stand corrected). It is NOT that you've been a contributor here at Wiki for 5yrs+..it's NOW how long but how well...coz I've been reading Wiki since early 2000s (FYI, I had my first PC since 1990, my first cellphone in 1989 even though I'm not tech-savvy, I've been tech-equipped presumably longer than U as I've been in the US since 1980).

However I rest my case if this small detail of correction will be an issue...then forget it. I was merely pointing out the obvious: if you can't provide your sources, then it will be removed, especially for seemingly made-up dates with no citations as to where these were sourced from. Remember, you are not the only one who is reading or will be reading the article; the whole internet will. Imagine if someone will ask you from Europe where did you get those figures. Will you just say, "Hey, I was there at the time so you should believe me!" That's a very absurd situation indeed.

You started the talk about a robust economy, bloated figures, or anything about Marcos. In fact, I don't really care about all of that. This is Wikipedia, and we have certain rules to follow:

All added content must be verifiable (WP:VERIFY)

Sources must accompany added content (WP:Citing sources)

We should avoid original research (WP:OR)

And please, no personal attacks (WP:NPA)

If you're busy to read and comprehend the rules, then don't start adding content without understanding Wikipedia policy. That's not a very good excuse in the first place.

Did you know that articles like the History of the Philippines can find sources for events which have happened way way before the 1960s? That's the problem, you say it's verifiable, but it isn't for everybody else. That's why every possible contentious claim must be backed by a source.

Maybe no one can time travel (yet) and go back to the events that have happened according to the Bible, but hey, as you can see, that article has sources. Xeltran (talk) 19:45, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Vandalism

Per WP:Vandalism, changes such as this are not vandalism. POV pushing maybe, but not vandalism. There are very legitimate reasons for reverting that edit, but it weakens your argument if you misuse wikipedia terminology, even if by accident. Koreans in the Philippines

That statement was in the article for years before 112.205.78.222 came along and removed it without comment. I presume it was verified by the original link at the end of the sentence. Certainly that link is now dead and seems to be unrecoverable from the Internet Archive. And it is my fault I didn't notice it was dead before, but it is quite trivial to find replacement citations, which you should certainly do before accusing me of inserting "POV". It is not in the slightest bit controversial to say that goods and services are rather expensive in South Korea, including the cost of teaching and apartments. 61.18.190.15 (talk) 18:14, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

For the record, I typed, "possibly POV..." because I could not trace where the statement was derived from. And no, I wasn't tagging the price issue; it was for the reason why they'd come to the country in the first place...although I think placing a citation needed tag would have been a better alternative. Since there was no citation, I opted for the non-descriptive version, just to make it neutral in case someone stumbles over the page and raises his/her eyebrow. Yes, there's nothing controversial about price differences between countries but this is Wikipedia afterall: everybody wants a source/citation/reference for almost everything that isn't neutral or what s/he perceives to be possibly one-sided POV. Editing of the article Imus

Sir good day, thanks for reminding me of WP:MOSPHIL, just a comment, I think MOSPHIL is only for naming the title of the articles, not for the contents of the article itself (like my proposal here, please support also since Mabalacat City is just a newly created city, thanks! Another comment, in regards for your last edit, the word "officially designated" is for the word capital, not for the word city, because you transferred the word officially designated to the next sentence. Because even today, MANY residents of Imus, almost 50% more, are still confused about the real capital of the province of Cavite, what they know is, the capital of the province is still Trece Martires. Regarding the inclusion of "city" in the city names, I think it would be better if we keep it consistent. Placing "city" after every Philippine city name can get quite complicated. On my latest edition about Notable people of Cabuyao, why there's no need to place where in Cabuyao (not Calamba) they were from? The article is already about Cabuyao. You wouldn't think the people listed there would come from anywhere else, would you? It is generally frowned upon to use the argument that other stuff exists to justify something (e.g. this article is like this so the other one should be like that as well, etc.). Gettting Wikimedians to the Olympic Games

Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success.
