Clarence

[edit]

What is Clarence, New South Wales? Village, town, farm, street corner, what? "Place" is a bit ambiguous. --Closedmouth (talk) 09:35, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the vagueness, I was about to create a real article but I had to go. Clarence is a former town in the Blue Mountains, NSW. It was originally a town in the 19th century when the Lithgow Zig Zag was still in use until the Ten Tunnels deviation in 1910 bypassed it. Only a few residents live there know. The old station has been restored and is used as a terminus by the Zig Zag Railway. There is also a nearby colliery, Clarence Colliery, which was opened in the 1970s, closed and then re-opened. It is serviced by a rail loop that branches of Newnes Junction and is currently owned by Centennial Coal. That's all the info I have so far........ Benshi
Cool, feel free to add that info to the article. --Closedmouth (talk) 10:08, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lol i made a mistake. Benshi

Dargans Deviation

[edit]

I was typing this just as you messaged me!

Another thing to do is add some inward links from the relevant articles (the Main West article would be one place to do it) - I don't know enough about it or have a relevant book in front of me to know exactly where. Wongm (talk) 10:34, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lol, kthx. Benshi

Language

[edit]

Hi Benshi. When I visited the article WP:Articles for deletion/Borung Highway collision I noticed your comment and, in particular, your use of offensive language. I notice you also proudly use a swear word on your User page. This is contrary to the WP policy of civility found in the article WP:Civility. Wikipedia is used by people of all countries and cultures, all genders, and all ages. Wikipedia is not solely for Australians, and not solely for blokes. Please refrain from using language that is offensive to some people. Happy editing. Dolphin51 (talk) 11:55, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is also not censored. Civility has nothing to do with "offensive language", and using is most certainly not in contravention of WP:CIVIL. Civility is about how you treat others, not the language you use when you do it. --Closedmouth (talk) 13:38, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I don't "proudly" use a swear on my page, it's true I do know a shitload of info for my age (I'm not telling you). I was also annoyed how some users, like you for example, is so uptight about the rules, it's like "Come'on give it a rest already. Finally, just because I use a swear does not make all aussie "blokes" complete obnoxious people who swear every minute. And you've got the wrong idea of civility. That's all I have to say. Benshi

G'day Benshi. You asked me what an aeronautical engineer is. An engineer who specialises in aeronautics! We do things with aircraft - design them, build them, maintain them, modify them, and so on. There is a lot of aeronautical engineers working for Qantas, for example. Dolphin51 (talk) 03:06, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Go you eagles.jpg}

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Go you eagles.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. As a newbie you'll be forgiven but take care with idenitifcation with articles contributed to - see WP:OWN - we work on em and sweat on em but they aint ours in any sense SatuSuro 09:28, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What? I created that D57 article myself-check the history! Shy Guy Gunzel~Talk 09:30, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That is not the issue read WP:OWN to get a good perspective on the issue - I could claim the same for projects and other things too - but wikipedia is a collaborative project and we need to remember that SatuSuro 09:32, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LOLOLOL, you thought that when I referred to it being my article I was being possessive. I was simple implying that I created the article. And don't call me a noob. Shy Guy Gunzel~Talk 09:32, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough - the Australian project always needs more rail articles - so keep up the good work! SatuSuro 09:37, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry! It seems I posted on to your User Page the other day instead of here. No offence intended - I trust none was taken. Anyway, I've finished with Caves Express. --Commissioner Geoff (talk) 20:56, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Lols.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Lols.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 03:08, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Lols.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Q T C 04:44, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh not this again. I took that image myself. I used all copyright required. Please will you guys leave me alone! It's not like Valve gives a fuck anyway! Shy Guy Gunzel~Talk

Thanks for uploading File:Nubbins.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. File source problem with File:Govett's leap.jpg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Govett's leap.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:50, 17 September 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 05:50, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Steam locomotives

[edit]

G'day Gunzel! I'm sure you can help me. I am looking for some information about the steam locomotives that hauled on the standard gauge rail between Port Augusta and Kalgoorlie after 1917 until they were replaced by diesel-electrics. Does Wikipedia have any articles on these steam locos? Cheers! Dolphin (t) 22:54, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
