Shortcuts
Please review the AWB guide before making a request. Users are rarely approved unless they have either 250 non-automated mainspace edits or 500 total mainspace edits. You can check your non-automated contributions on XTools. Administrators are automatically approved and do not need to request access. For bots, you must first have a bot approval request approved, or in trial; link to your BRFA in the request.
This page is for requesting AWB Access for English Wikipedia only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.
If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. If you will make many or fast automated edits using AWB, you may wish to use a separate (or bot) account for that purpose; first create the account, give it a userpage declaring it to be your alternate account, then make the request using your main account.
Please note that administrators may not ping you in replies, so please check on your request if you have not heard anything.

I'd like to keep using AutoWikiBrowser to better add WikiProjects to talk pages in other languages, such as those in the Vietnamese versions of Establishments in Italy by year, as well as fixing (not necessarily removing like before) unknown parameters in templates. Reason for requesting autowikibrowser rights: I have achieved 500 mainspace edits and I feel like this tool will be used so that I can contribute to wikipedia while expanding my knowledge of it- as well as how these tools work. This tool will be handy in my improvement of wikipedia articles no matter stub or good articles. This tool will be so handy in fixing problems that are in multiple articles! (See rescinded previous request.) There are many tasks I undertake that AWB would make easier, but the immediate task is finding 'what redirects here' for Effective radiated power to clean its odd anchor 'Equivalent radiated power (Redirected)' in the second paragraph. I do a fair bit of redirect work, so the ability to examine database dumps without dragging out my minimal MariaDB chops would be nice. The anchor Equivalent radiated power (Redirected) is only on Equivalent radiated power, so I do not see anything to "fix". Primefac (talk) 19:57, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(Effective isotropic radiated power and EIRP also use the format. It is difficult to verify there is only one redirect to each when sorting through ~20,000 'what links here's. I have never seen the (Redirected) format used anywhere else, which is why I thought to 'fix' it.) If you're looking for a specific phrase (such as this one) and a "what links here" doesn't help, you should use an insource: search, for example this is the search for insource:"Equivalent radiated power (Redirected)", which shows that the redirect is the only page that calls it (I suspect that's why the redirect exists in the first place). Hey there, I am looking to go through the cave articles and add categories to improve navigation within the area. This would take me literal days to do without access to this tool, as I am hoping to through most of the available articles. I will also be removing tags related to caves when they should refer to mines or quarry, and will be updating things that are manmade to accurately represent that in the articles categories. @Kingsmasher678 Cat-a-lot can be installed here by pasting the code from Help:Gadget-Cat-a-lot#As_your_user_gadget into your Special:MyPage/common.js file. It works just as well on articles as it does on images, just instead of clicking the description to select a file, you click in the empty space to the right of the page name in the category listing. --Ahecht (TALK

Disambugation links. I really enjoy doing them and I'd like to help bring the "articles with Dab links" number into the 3 digits. If you'll look at my dab history you'll see I have dealt with everything from standard, to Vandalism, to navbox, and even had to update a module for a disambugation link that had been present for a few months. I'm currently null editing manually ~120 pages so they won't be on the dab list and slow anyone else down.

I currently do the majority of my disambugation on mobile, but if granted permission I can allocate two days on desktop to disambiguate. Based on on current normal fluctuations, I'm confident that I can help get disambiguation articles down to triple digits within 3-4 months. (notwithstanding random navbox disambiguation).

I am currently ranked in the top 10 DAB users although that doesn't mean much right now considering the top 2 have about ten times my number. RCSCott91 (talk) 19:22, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
