Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
[edit]Uncontroversial technical requests
[edit]- Catholicate College Pathanamthitta → Catholicate College, Pathanamthitta (move · discuss) – Comma before place name, see https://catholicatecollege.com/. 117.230.171.198 (talk) 10:10, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves

Contested technical requests
[edit]- Kabaddi World Cup (standard style) → Kabaddi World Cup (move · discuss) – This the only official world cup authorised by the international federation of the sport. The others are unofficial versions hosted in unofficial capacities. There should be a separate disambiguation page for the others. Kabaddi World Cup should feature the actual World Cup. OCDD (talk)
- Primary topic grabs are, by definition, not uncontroversial. 162 etc. (talk) 21:00, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
- All three listed topics are international competitions and are presumably considered official by those who organise them. The current title is already ambiguous, since there are two Kabaddi World Cups that are standard style – the other one being the World Cup Kabaddi (for which I just opened an RM). I suggest Kabaddi World Cup (standard style) should be moved to Kabaddi World Cup (International Kabaddi Federation). — BarrelProof (talk) 21:02, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- RM created JJPMaster (she/they) 00:06, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Kolej DPAH Abdillah → Kolej Abdillah (currently a redirect back to Kolej DPAH Abdillah) (move · discuss) – per WP:COMMONNAME, an article title is a natural-language word or expression, with that being said, it's correct to move the article to Kolej Abdillah, as no one is calling the subject name with the acronym (DPAH), it is commonly referred to as Kolej Abdillah by the locals here, See 36.85.110.227 (talk) 14:07, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- The present title was chosen in an RM just a few weeks ago, so not uncontroversial. — Amakuru (talk) 19:26, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Mesa Grande → Sce:dagĭ Mu:val Va’aki (restricted by the titleblacklist, which page movers can override) (move · discuss) – the name of this site was officially changed in November 2024. See their website: https://www.arizonamuseumofnaturalhistory.org/plan-a-visit/sce-dagi-mu-val-va-aki and this article: https://www.mesanow.org/news/public/article/3408 199.101.34.66 (talk) 17:16, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- The article appears to be about the name change, with regard to WP:NAMECHANGE, we look for coverage about the organisation that uses the new name. Bobby Cohn (talk) 19:42, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- Royal Challengers Bangalore → Royal Challengers Bengaluru (currently a redirect back to Royal Challengers Bangalore) (move · discuss) – name of the IPL team has been changed from Royal Challengers Bangalore to Royal Challengers Bengaluru so the Wikipedia page title should also be changed there is already a page with name Royal Challengers Bengaluru so please move this page Abdullateefsherani (talk) 05:53, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- There was a move discussion concerning the name change, so another move discussion should be held. ToadetteEdit (talk) 06:54, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- the name of team has changed, what else proof do you need? Abdullateefsherani (talk) 09:26, 27 November 2024 (UTC)

- Consensus decision-making → Consensus (decision-making) (currently a redirect back to Consensus decision-making) (move · discuss) – Look up google number of results: "consensus decision-making" About 257,000 results VS "consensus" "decision-making" -"consensus decision-making" About 127,000,000 results ModernDaySlavery (talk) 00:08, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- @ModernDaySlavery This is a WP:NATURAL disambiguation, which is generally preferred over WP:PARENTHETICAL and should thus probably remain as it is right now (or subject to a full RM discussion). It also looks like you tried to unilaterally move this a few days ago and it was reverted. Raladic (talk) 00:12, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Face (sociological concept) → Face (social concept) (currently a redirect back to Face (sociological concept)) (move · discuss) – Better description since its also heavily used in social psychology and cultural psychology aside from sociology ModernDaySlavery (talk) 00:08, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- @ModernDaySlavery Not inherently uncontentious, so RMTR isn't the right place. Suggest a full WP:RM to seek other editors input for consensus. In fact it appears you tried to move these pages yourself a few days ago and it was reverted] due to the potentially contentious nature of an undiscussed move. Raladic (talk) 00:15, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Luxembourg (Belgium) → Belgian Luxembourg (currently a redirect back to Luxembourg (Belgium)) (move · discuss) – natural disambig Mach61 04:33, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Mach61 Based on the history of prior RMs at the title, it seems potentially contentious, as well as guidelines at WP:PLACEDAB mentioning that larger subdivisions or historical regions usually use parenthetical disambiguation. Recommend full RM. Raladic (talk) 04:48, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Priyanka Gandhi → Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (currently a redirect back to Priyanka Gandhi) (move · discuss) – Almost all reliable news sources in India and abroad - and her own social media profiles use the name Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. She also uses it in her campaign material. Using her maiden name does not make sense for consistency in the article aswell. Rushtheeditor (talk) 23:56, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- There was a move discussion concerning the titles five years ago, in addition, there are some sources which refer to the former title and other to the latter title, so the common name is disputed. ToadetteEdit (talk) 06:18, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Poland in the European Union → Poland and the European Union (currently a redirect back to Poland in the European Union) (move · discuss) – Per consistency of member states of an international/multilateral organization like articles on member states of the United Nations. Example: Poland and the United Nations. The main category for this article is Category:Poland and the European Union. Match naming convention of countries that are members of organizations but also their mainspace categories. The word "in" in the title is not properly reflective and not the right word. WikiCleanerMan (talk) 03:33, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Cyprus in the European Union → Cyprus and the European Union (currently a redirect instead to 2004 enlargement of the European Union) (move · discuss) – Per consistency of member states of an international/multilateral organization like articles on member states of the United Nations. Example: Cyprus and the United Nations. The main category for this article is Category:Cyprus and the European Union. - 1. I'm pretty sure you are technically able to perform this move yourself. 2. This page was moved from the "and" title to the "in" title with the summary "Requested by @Vipz WP:RM/TR: Consistency: see Cyprus in the European Union, Czech Republic in the European Union, and Poland in the European Union." There are two competing claims of consistency, so I think this should be discussed. Toadspike [Talk] 09:27, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- @WikiCleanerMan I've marked these three requests as "contested", with no prejudice against the moves, since I believe the contradictory consistency arguments should be looked at in a full RM. Toadspike [Talk] 09:32, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
