December date and regularizing meetup days going forward
[edit]I'd like to suggest that we regularize our meetup dates for the 3rd Saturday or Sunday of the month, which will hopefully spare us some planning deliberations in future (this would just be a "default" day, not one that we couldn't stray from for a good reason). For this December, that would make it the 17th or the 18th, does that work for people?--Pharos (talk) 21:53, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- As raised at the last, Saturdays are much more convenient for people, so I think we should do dinner on the 17th. Peter.C • talk • contribs 11:08, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
- I can't make it the 17th. I have a prior commitment. --Scottandrewhutchins (talk) 02:23, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- Eeek, I have to grade finals that weekend, and possibly do some other work ;-) Bearian (talk) 22:50, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- I like the 18th. And I think it's a good idea to regularize, e.g. "3rd weekend (Sat. or Sun.) of the month." -- kosboot (talk) 23:21, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yes please to regularizing the date! A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 23:29, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- I agree that regular scheduling, or at least scheduling reasonably far in advance, of our meetups would be helpful. (Although unfortunately, I won't be available on December 17.) Newyorkbrad (talk) 23:41, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- Maybe we should do December 18 this time, so as not to conflict with the DC Meetup.--Pharos (talk) 05:17, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

There is a conflict on 12/17 for me, so December 18 would be better. — Becksguy (talk) 17:25, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
- We'll see on either day for me. Mitch32(Never support those who think in the box) 18:25, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
SOPA
[edit]I would like to add to the agenda a chance to briefly discuss SOPA and what we, as a chapter, can and should do in light of discussions of a possible strike by the community in opposition. Daniel Case (talk) 02:32, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Strategic Plan Planning
[edit]As promised, here is a .PDF of the document I presented at the meetup on Sunday. This is just an idea on how to proceed on with writing the actual strategic plan. One important issue in this paper is the need for committees, so I am including a sigh up sheet below for people who wish to join one. Peter.C • talk • contribs 11:39, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
- Er, where? -- kosboot (talk) 13:59, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
