- First ever international match played at the Kennington Oval, London which resulted in a 0 - 0 draw between England and Scotland. A second international between the two teams was held later on in the year on November 19 which resulted in a 2 - 1 victory to England.[1]
- The first "goalkeepers" and passage from "dribbling game" to "passing game" reported in matches from clubs in Sheffield and London, in particular Royal Engineers.
