This is a list of Bangladeshi television and radio channels that are legally permitted by the Bangladesh government, organized in alphabetical order. There are 2 terrestrial state run TV channels: Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Sangshad Television. BTV runs a TV channel BTV World which broadcasts by satellite 24 hours a day to Asia, Australasia and the Middle East. Bangladesh government has approved new 2 private channels 'Channel Bayanno' (Channel 52), on 20 October and on 6 November 2013 'Bangla TV' got clearance. Another new 15 private channels is waiting for final approval.[citation needed]

a private satellite TV channel in Bangladesh, founded in 2008. This is a project of Diganta Media Corporation. Diganta TV started formally broadcasting on 28 August 2008, with 16 hours of news and 8 hours of entertaining programs. Its operation has been temporarily suspended by BTRC.
the first Islamic television station in Bangladesh. The owner of the channel is Said Iskandar, the younger brother of the Ex-Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. By the order of Government, its broadcast has been temporarily closed.

a state-owned radio broadcasting station of Bangladesh. Its headquarters are in AgargaonSher e Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, Bangladesh Betar established during the War of Liberation of Bangladesh in 1971. Then it was known as Shwadin Bangla Betar Kendra, after the independence of Bangladesh it was named as Bangladesh Betar. But in 1975 after the coup d'état the rebels renamed it as Radio Bangladesh and so it continued up to 1996. Bangladesh Awami League came into power in 1996. They returned it to its original name Bangladesh Betar.
As of 2015, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission was in the process of assigning FM broadcasting spectrum to the remaining three private organizations licensed by the Ministry of Information for FM broadcasting: Radio Capital, Radio Masti, and Gold FM.[2]
Community radio in Bangladesh
The Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC), in special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, considers community radio a special area for intervention. BNNRC has been promoting advocacy to the government in relation to community radio with other organizations since its emergence in 2000. As a result, the Ministry of Information of the People's Republic of Bangladesh announced the Community Radio Installation, Broadcast and Operation Policy 2008. Under this policy, the Ministry of Information approved 16 community radio stations for the first time in Bangladeshi history. To ensure the free flow of information to the people, the government enacted the Right to Information Act 2009. Community radio stations are a strong step in empowering rural people.

Unlicensed broadcasters
In August 2015, there were 43 authorized TV channels in Bangladesh. Pirate television stations also exist. In August 2015, they included: Ananda Bangla TV, Bangla Music TV, Bengali Movie SK TV, Channel 5, Channel 7, Ctg TV, CTN TV, DM TV, Filmy Bangla TV, Movie Bangla TV, Rang TV, and SB TV. The Ministry of Information has sought action against them.[3]
