Untitled[edit]

Is the year of the Roman synode correct? The article says 499, but also makes it seem that this happened after the end of the schism in 505. Andre Engels

The year is correct. I re-ordered the facts, so now it should be more clear.--Panairjdde 08:22, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Veneration[edit]

Could we get a citation on the supposed veneration of Symmachus by the Oriental Orthodox? This sounds like an astounding claim to me, as I would have thought them to probably think of Symmachus as a heretic. Deusveritasest (talk) 01:51, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Symmachi?[edit]

Is there any relation to the gens Symmachi? I notice that one of its members, the consul Quintus Aurelius Memmius Symmachus, supported the Pope in the controversy. Was there a familial connection there, is it an amazing coincidence, or were these names more common in Rome at this time? --Akhenaten0 (talk) 15:34, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There were other Symmachuses, in several generations. The topic can be a prosopographical minefield. Consult the experts: Jones, Arnold Hugh Martin; Martindale, John Robert (1980). The Prosopography of the Later Roman Empire: A.D. 395-527. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press. --Vicedomino (talk) 22:14, 24 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

DAVIS, not Davies[edit]

One should get the correct information from the title page. --Vicedomino (talk) 21:47, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
