Merger Proposal[edit]

I propose merging Roman Catholic Diocese of Cervia into Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ravenna-Cervia. The Diocese of Cervia is one of several historical designations of the area, and only has its own page because it happened to be current in 1913, when the Catholic Encyclopedia was published. Strongly oppose. What the Catholic Encyclopedia did in 1913 is irrelevant, and the reason suggested questions the judgment of a WP editor. The Diocese of Cervia had a long history of 1500 years, which happens not to have been filled in in the English language Wikipedia as yet, but that is no reason to merge or delete. Much of the Wikipedia is still under construction. There is nothing to be gained by merging Cervia into Ravenna. It would just make a complicated muddle when both dioceses are fully attended to. I am currently working on the Diocese of Adria (a suffragan of Ravenna), which has been in a skeletal state for some time. Patience is needed, not a cement mixer.

I have been working on the Diocese of Cervia. The article is now much longer and better (in IMHO) than the article on the archdiocese of Ravenna. Most of the content has nothing to do with Ravenna.

Closing, given the uncontested objection with no support for the proposal, and article improvement since the proposal was started. Klbrain (talk) 17:26, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
