Style of play[edit]

Note, taken from the article to this talk page: I am not a registered user but this is a BRUTAL example of how some people try to use Wikipedia as a promotional tool. The nationality field of the Infobox to "American<br>Puerto Rican (FIBA)"

Carlos Beltrán, president of the PRBF, confirmed this week that he has officially submitted the eligibility papers of Napier to the FIBA. This locks his FIBA -and by extension IOC- nationality as "Puerto Rican"; keeping it the current way is only going to attract future conflicts (a while ago, it included both, but someone clearly took an unilateral approach and changed it without discussion). The document submission, combined with his own ethnic background and the fact that his intention to play for the team was previously sourced, should make this a routine change. El Alternativo (talk) 03:29, 27 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

At the very least, his allegiance to the Puerto Rico national basketball team should be noted in the lead. El Alternativo (talk) 03:37, 27 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not done for now: Sorry, but it's not clear that this request has consensus just yet. Could you propose a specific wording for the lead, and leave a few days to see if there is a consensus among other editors for both of your proposals here? Simple, one sentence stating that "Due to Puerto Rican heritage on his mother's side, Napier represents the Puerto Rico national basketball team in international competition." The infobox change is cosmetic and meant to avoid a clash when he begins to play with PR and the fans endear themselves with him. El Alternativo (talk) 19:05, 29 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
oppose -the infobox is for simple information - complex circumstantial items that need context need to be covered in text and context. in addition, we do not pander to special interest groups or their threatened disruptions. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 19:56, 29 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
