I was surprised to find this page about my father. I know there was some pages on the web telling of is trip to Napa valley (California) years ago revealing the upcoming of american top quality wines, and other pages when sworn in the "Confrérie des Bons Entonneurs Rabelaisiens".

Oh wow. Thanks. Yeah, I was immensely surprised that fellow wine project members didn't think the topic merits it own article. But then I realized that it is a topic that is mostly an "insider term" that your average wine drinker may not be aware of. So I figure it was a good opportunity as any to shed some light on this important concept. Farm Winery

I'm not sure if you got to see the comment I left on this page so I'll put it here and see what you think. I would like to keep them separate and I'll take it upon myself to properly write the articles if we decide that we think the articles should stay separate. As always I am open to opinions though. I am not sure I agree with this merge because the Farm Winery is a specific legal definition used for wineries in the United States that can sell wines on premise. That is what the Farm Winery Law of 1976 in New York was created for specifically. Unless this is a designation used for wineries all over the world I think it may be better kept separate, I could be convinced though if someone feels otherwise. Hrm, perhaps Farm Winery could be placed within Winery and a redirect could be done from Farm Winery to Winery. Beaujolais

Hi, just saw that you uploaded the picture of the glass of Beaujolais for its page. It had no caption, but I though it might be nice to say "a glass of Beaujolais from..." or "a (year) Beaujolais" rather than just the obvious. Thanks! VanTucky 04:58, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

GA Review on "Leonard Orban"

Thanks for your review on "Leonard Orban" and thanks also for passing the article. I have tried to solve the problem with the photos. There is a more general problem with photos from the EU in Wikipedia. I believe the more close examination of the legal notices of the EU institutions leads to fair use tags, but in other EU photos the users have chosen a "this file has been released into the public domain by the copyright holder" (Image:Louis Michel.jpg) or "The copyright holder of this file allows anyone to use it for any purpose, provided that the copyright holder is properly attributed. Redistribution, derivative work, commercial use, and all other use is permitted." (Image:Stavros Dimas.jpg) Anyway, I believe we need here some legal advice and the issue should be dealt from users experienced with images. Any suggestions on this are more than welcome. Yeah, I do believe that the current culture on Wikipedia errs on the side of paranoia more so then on solid legal footing. Considering the importance of images to building a quality encyclopedia, I am surprised that the Wikipedia Foundation has not invested legal resources into hammering out a truly comprehensive and detail guideline on images that relates to images worldwide. Vandal revert - thanks

When I saw an edit from you on my talk page, I thought it was a WikiProject Wine newsletter (good job on those, by the way!). But then I saw it was a revert of some vandalism. Thanks for that, but it's hopeless. This is an an AOL vandal who vandalizes userpages and user talk pages in rapid succession. It turns out that AOL is a perfect ISP from which to vandalize anonymously. Every time an AOL user accesses Wikipedia, AOL assigns a different IP address! So an AOL user can make 20 vandal edits from a dozen different IP addresses. Very frustrating. I've had my userpage semi-protected, but it looks like the talk page will have to go that way too. -Amatulic 16:50, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Office Depot Revert

I was wondering if you could explain to me why you reverted my edits to Office Depot. Based on the discussion the talk page, I was under the assumption that information like that would be legitimate. Granted, I could have phrased it differently. --Amaraiel 01:27, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

It was pitched as an advertisement for the technology that Office Depot sells which has little, if any, encyclopedic merit for an article about the company. As I said in the edit summary, if there was independent third party sources that commented on some unique aspect (like first US retailer to sell Lenovo, etc) then that would merit inclusion with that third party source. Unfortunately it's not automated. It's all good ole fashion cut n paste. I suppose that someone with more code-savy could come up with a bot to make it automated. If the wine project grows to 100+ members, I may ardently look for such a person because hand delivering the newsletter can be a bit tedious. Agne^Cheese/^Wine 05:37, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

One thing that might make it easier is for you to set up a mailing list for folks like me who can be emailed, and who give permission. The email would contain a link to the most recent newsletter.

GAC backlog elimination drive

Agne27 - I've done quite a bit of work on the bollinger page since the last real discussion. However, there seems to be no way that I can figure out about how to have the article re-assessed. It is currently rated as Start Class, even though it contains more detail, and more sources than most other champagne pages which are rated more favorably. How can I initiate a re-evaluation? Maybe I just don't know how to use wiki well enough. Please advise. I too put a lot of work into pages hoping to have them reach higher levels of review. Veritasjohn 20:31, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

St. Louis "Cards"

Hi Agne. Can we talk about this instead of getting into a revert war? I am not saying that you need to unquestioningly accept the solution that we agreed to on the WikiProject page; I just meant to alert you that a discussion was ongoing, and that you are invited to participate in it rather than reverting everything I do. Although you accused me of "undue deletion of encyclopedic content", in fact I did not delete the name "Cards" from the Cardinals page. It is still in the infobox, not directly under the team name at the top (which was a kludgy solution anyway that didn't fit well with the infobox template) but lower down under the heading "other nicknames". Furthermore, the name "Cards" is prominently mentioned in the article's lead paragraph, due to its common usage and (as you mentioned) endorsement by the team itself. Please let me proceed with this task of cleaning up the MLB team pages. If you continue to have a disagreement with what I'm doing, please contribute to the WikiProject discussion. Thanks to both of you for the nice words. I'd like to find a pleasing compromise for everyone involved. I believe there is some encyclopedic relevance and benefit to Wikipedia for mention of what happened. Unfortunately the current Anna Svidersky article just cross the memorial line too much to stay focused on the important items. Hi Agne, the mourning sickness article is off to a great start! I really appreciate whenever someone takes the time to seek a third way (other than keep or delete) to solve a problem at Afd. In the case of Anna Svidersky, however, I still don't think there's a valid reason to delete. I'd love to see your mourning sickness article be the main article for this topic, and then have events like the Anna Svidersky meme link from it. Some people say the Anna article is a memorial -- but I think it's a well-sourced article about a notable online memorial and is therefore encyclopedic. So I continue to support keeping Anna Svidersky, but I also support your article and if mourning sickness ever comes up for deletion, please let me know. --JayHenry 14:41, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Maybe it's the weather – dull, rainy day here today – that's inspired me to copyedit the Wine tasting article, or perhaps I'm just feeling a little masochistic.. reading through, I'm struck by the {{Unreferencedsection}} tag on the Grape Varieties section. You added this with a note that it was from the main wine page, but I can't see a trace of it there. Any idea where it came from? True to form, all Google brings up is a raft of sites quoting Wikipedia.. also, while you're there, would you mind looking to give me your opinion on those recent and more long-standing external links? It looks like USER:Miskwito added the unreferenced tag on July 28th though I would agree with it. It is somewhat ORish and I'm sure you can find some reliable source with a similar type chart. If I recall correctly, it was probably part of the massive wine article before I moved some of the splinter sections out. I'm not sure where it originally came but I have a feeling it was a compilation with users adding their own terms and descriptions. You certainly have your work cut out for you with this article. As for the external links, I personally think all the current links should go and be replaced with some more worthwhile and a little less commercial. Agne^Cheese/^Wine 15:11, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Ah. If that's the case, each grape descriptor will need its own citation, as I'm unlikely to find a source with descriptors corresponding with the collection we have there. Seems like an impossible task, unless I replace all of them with those from a single secondary source.. thanks for the pointers; I realize it's an uphill task but at the very least I might be able to knock it into shape a little. What's the protocol for moving a page after there seems to have been a fair discussion. There are four in favor and 2 against. Does an administrator make the move or should I, as initiator, make the move? I'm a bit new and try not to step on too many toes. VirginiaProp 15:10, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
