Dody Weston Thompson

While checking older AfC submissions I came across this extraordinarily impressive article. I rarely work with decent quality articles--my speciality here has mainly been working at the opposite end, trying to do something positive with the lowest quality articles that might possibly be upgraded into encyclopedic quality, and sorting out the people who are barely notable from the ones who are not notable at all. What I don't understand in this article, is whether one can fairly say everything in the first three paragraphs without direct sources. In a sense, it's sourced by the relevant material later one, but the actual judgments seem to be your own. I wonder if perhaps you could diminish that impression of individual judgment by adding a few references, or possible very short quotes, to that lede section, without diminishing its strength as a lede. I continue to think it better to omit most of the third paragraph of the intro. You can always say According to X , without a footnote , but when I write, I put no judgments at all in the summary, just facts that make the jiudgment obvious.
