Why did you use a false reference?[edit]
The words liberal nor hero are used even one time in this article[4] that you put on a sentence that said Ervin was those things. It's been removed....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 00:59, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
I did not put that article there. The sentence previously said, "Paradoxically, he became known for his support of civil liberties." It had that reference there already. That reference to the Los Angeles Times was put there by another user and was meant to refer to his support to civil liberties, and since I was simply revising a part of the sentence not dealing with civil liberties, I decided to leave it there. Free Soil Party[edit]
"Center-right" is almost meaningless as a description of the Free-Soil Party. The slavery issue really did not line up in any simple way with left vs. right. Many of those who considered themselves real conservatives in the 1840s and 1850s basically thought that the less discussion about slavery (pro or con), the better.
