Thanks. This guy put so many "Santa is a communist" phrases on this page, I couldn't revert it myself. My browser crashed and I had to press Ctrl-Alt-Del!

Vandalism by User:Hellfire17 on the Cold War article

List of homerun hitters

Is it not relevant to add the astrik? Cheers! -- KBW1 06:07, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

No, because that is MLB's decision, not Wikipedia's. And because steroid use hasn't been proven for most of those players, it's a violation of Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy as well. --Bongwarrior 06:14, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Ah, I see. If and when it gets proven that the MLB releases some type of list of the players that use steroids, then we may include it in the article, correct? Cheers! -- KBW1 21:04, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Having a picture of an arm doesn't greatly increase our understanding of what an arm looks like either. There is no reason to remove this relevant and informative picture. It is logical that the primary subject of the article is illustrated by a picture. That some don't like the picture is not a reason to remove it; Wikipedia is not censored and we are not going to remove images based on what some find disgusting. We're an encyclopedia. Regards, Melsaran (talk) 23:30, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

This discussion has gone around and around on the talk page, with no clear consensus to keep or remove. I decided to remove it because it's unnecessary. I'm sure it will be back again before long. --Bongwarrior 23:34, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey thank you, and question

I saw you defended me. Not defended what I said when I lost my temper, which was crude and obviously not worth defending, but just the fact that I did write that because I lost my temper, and not that I'm just some ill-intentioned vandal, just a good faith editor who got really upset over an ongoing debate which had been driving me insane.

What's funny is one person told me I have no place being on wikipedia at all and said I clearly am not intelligent or something to that effect, yet he keeps reverting to the version I had written before because he thought it was the best.

I'm going to cool down and try to be civil, I'm not saying what I did was okay, but I just wanted to thank you for understanding that sometimes people get mad and that there's a difference between things getting heated and actual vandalism. That makes it a lot easier for me to relax and feel more optimistic about contributing in positive ways.

I've got a question though. Do you know if I can access the report that was written about me, and what I can do to contest it?

Peace.Rglong 07:24, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

You're welcome. I'm not sure of the specifics of the situation, but I thought it was unfair for you to be tagged as a vandal. The report I took exception to was issued at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism; that report was removed because one of the admins agreed that it wasn't a case of vandalism, and you don't need to do anything about that one. There is another report posted at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents about your behavior, and that one is still open, although it's not drawing much attention. It might not be a bad idea to drop by there and give your side of the story, and maybe give an apology if you think you need to. Good luck, and take care. --Bongwarrior 07:36, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Maybe it's come to this...

Bongwarrior, your talkpage here is getting vandalized about five times per half-hour, at the least. Maybe it's come to this: you'll just have to have an administrator speed delete the page. Then, when things cool down again, and some of the vandalizers have turned good, and the others who refused to change have been blocked from editing, and the encyclopedia is full of nothing but responsible editors, you can always restore or recreate your talkpage. Just a thought; don't really expect anyone to perform it. Sometimes I find only the sunsets can cheer downward people up. October 21st, 2007. —Preceding comment was added at 00:08, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you're talking about. My talk page hardly ever gets vandalized, and even if it was as bad as you say, I don't think deleting it would be the best course of action. Thanks for the concern though. --Bongwarrior 03:12, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Gee, I thought it did. After I brought up that discussion on whether or not the site made a mistake on who removed that myspace spam from the South Park page, I added your talkpage (and of course, the associated userpage) to my watchlist, in wait of a reply. Once I add a page to my watchlist, I almost never take it off; therefore I've frequently seen in the summaries how someone vandalizes both your user and your talk page, and you or some kind user always revert it. I merely thought that if the page was deleted until all the vandalizers (or a good enough deal of them) have been stopped, then you wouldn't have to worry about that anymore. (Of course, you'd probably have to keep your userpage going, since people might find it harder to identify you amongst all the other users, otherwise.) Then again, a good splash of cold water and smearing wet hair with tea tree oil sometimes helps also. October 21st, 2007. —Preceding comment was added at 03:26, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

But, I have a concern. That person's going to come back and vandalize my page some more under sockpupets with P and H-man, like P***H***man, or P***man, or something like that. Anyway, I appreciate it. Cheers!

please explain

Now I'm a fair man, I can see why wiki has its policies and am in complete support of them. I wouldn't go to a major article and mess it up under any circumstances, that would just be rude. But Centennial high school? An article which was practically empty to begin with. You see it fit to continuously go back there and waste time editing it, ruining a good joke which the students of centennial would've appreciated? Now that's destructive behaviour. No, this isn't spam just to be clear, so dont go making out that it is. I'm asking you, where do you find the time and why do you care, is this just an ego thing. im confused to say the least seeing as you are an "American dude". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.144.197.186 (talk) 06:08, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm not trying to ruin anyone's fun, but Wikipedia is a fairly prominent website, and people come here looking for serious information, not jokes. It doesn't matter if it's a major article or a stub. I find Wikipedia to be a very useful resource, and I'd like to keep it that way. You may want to check out the website Uncyclopedia. I'm not all that familiar with it, but it seems like you can get away with whatever you want, as long as it's funny. Of course, if you want to stick around here and contribute a bit more seriously, that's even better. Take care. --Bongwarrior 06:26, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for understanding, RS. Contacting me right here is usually the quickest way. If you'd rather email me, there's an "email this user" link on the left side of this page, but sometimes it takes a little while before I check it. Once again, welcome, and please try to keep Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy in mind. I see you made some more edits, and while I disagree with some, the rest look pretty good. Take care. --Bongwarrior 07:12, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Horrorscope.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Horrorscope.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:46, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Changed block

I hope you don't mind, but I've changed User:BottlecapWarrior's block to indefinite, since he has not a single non-vandalistic edit, and has had plenty of warnings. If he indicates a willingness to contribute, of course he can be unblocked, but since he's done some subtle vandalism in the past, it seemed just as well to make it indefinite. Let me know if you feel differently, of course. Chick Bowen 04:03, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Nope, that's fine. He hadn't been blocked before, so I decided to be lenient. Your way works just as well. Take care. --Bongwarrior 04:08, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Lock Box block

Hi, just a quick note, if you block any user for death threats or other similar behaviour, please remember to disable their ability to send e-mails, consider leaving Arbcom's e-mail address on the talk page and then protecting it. We generally will not let any user blocked for making serious threats to e-mail users and intimidate them or post further threats on their talk page, and as administrators will generally not deal with the unblock request, there's no need for any further communication between 'us' and 'them'. They can take it up with Arbcom through the e-mail address provided or forget about Wikipedia. If you've blocked someone in similar circumstances, it's often worthwhile contacting an Arbitrator or Arbitration Clerk and asking them to post something to their private mailing list, just so all the Arbcom are aware of the situation, and can oversight any especially problematic edits. I've reblocked with e-mail disabled, as a precaution. Nick 18:55, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Will do, thank you for letting me know. --Bongwarrior 23:12, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

AIV

I see you reviewed an AIV report on Pratson11. You mentioned that there is a level 2 warning and that the unproductive edits have stopped. That's good. My question is that a level 3 warning states that "You will be blocked...". One trouble is that only admin can block. So if a non-admin places the warning, it is an idle threat. Furthermore, a non-admin cannot guarantee what an admin will do. What's your opinion about rewording it. One possibility is that "Steps will be taken to suspend your editing privileges by blocking". That's a bit wordy. Thanks for reviewing it. Maybe the AIV report stopped it. Archtransit (talk) 23:29, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi. Non-admins are absolutely allowed and encouraged to use all levels in warning vandals. It's not an idle threat, because when someone continues to vandalize after receiving a full or mostly full set of warnings, an admin will almost always issue an appropriate block when it's brought to their attention. So feel free to use them all, that's what they were designed for. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 23:38, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi there. According to Wikiproject:Cricket guidelines, Nigel Capel-Cure meets standards for notability. Specifically, he "has appeared in at least one major (i.e., first-class or List A) match as a player".

I am intrigued however - of what relation was Alfred, subject of an article you created? Judging by an age difference of 82 years, I would assume Alfred was Nigel's grandfather, but I do not know. Would be interested to know if you are aware.

erroneous deletions

I assume you attended the school or are an administrator of some sort. I'm also sure you checked your facts. Maybe the Virginia Pilot would help you cite my additions, instead of deleting what you are apparently bias about. And since when does a professional baseball player the only good that has come out of that school? I am going to have to take the stance that he is about as important or "notable" as any of the rest of the student body who has graduated. As far as what is relevant or not on Wikipedia, I believe it is in the reader's best interest to be more informed on what may not be legal fact, than be deprived of true events and real people associated with the article. Nevertheless mr bongwikiwarrior, defender of all thats just, I would be more worried about the LACK of information on the Hickory High School page. Sorry to inform you, that school is not without it's controversial issues. Let them be heard. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brixtonq (talkcontribs) 10:22, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

It's not my responsibility to cite your additions. We deal with facts here, not rumors and speculation. If you can find a reliable source that mentions that particular incident, it can stay. Otherwise, it has to go. As for the notable alumni I removed, most of them were "notable" for playing Counter Strike. Playing video games does not indicate notability. I have no particular interest in your school, and no affiliation. I'm just trying to keep the Wikipedia nice and tidy. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 10:40, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Truthfully, the block was a 50-50 call. Because he was spamming the links, I gave him the benefit of being misguided. Blanking the pages could certainly have justified an indefinite block as vandalism-only, though. I certainly wouldn't have argued if another admin had blocked him that way. —C.Fred (talk) 01:03, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi Bongwarrior, the above IP (which you blocked due to the racist remarks he/she was leaving) has continued doing so on the IP talk page. Just thought I'd bring it to your attention. Cheers, faithless (speak) 06:21, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Hey FTW. I've semi-protected it for the duration of the block, that should take care of that. Thank you for letting me know. --Bongwarrior (talk) 06:28, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Vagabond

how are you deciding which vagabonds are allowed to be mentioned on the vagabond page and which ones aren't?

Timeisrunningshort (talk) 12:30, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Awesome catch!

On this sock! There's a new one, they've moved on from the Central Mosque page, but the style is still quite distinctive. Thanks for catching that! ArielGold 22:35, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

I just happened to watchlist that article yesterday in case he came back. Cluebot did most of the work though. --Bongwarrior (talk) 22:40, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
Hee hee, yeah ClueBot is awesome. I watchlisted it too, and requested 24 hour protection because the ACB blocks weren't effective. If you see it getting out of hand again it might need another 24 hours, but the latest sock moved on to a new article, so it may not matter, ultimately. Nice to know you're aware of the pattern though, thanks again! ArielGold 22:46, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Username reporting

Hello! By the way, it wasn't just the username of that user that concerned me, I noticed some edits like this as well (notice all the other people's comments that were removed). Best, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 01:41, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, it could have been an honest mistake, it's certainly not something I'd rake someone over the coals for. He appears to be a good faith contributor who has been using his username for over a year without incident. I just don't think a username block is the best course of action in this situation. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 01:49, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
Okay, thank you for the reply and Happy Holidays as well!  :) Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 01:53, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Help, please: half of my "Further readings" are Harvard, and the other half are Author/Date

This is somewhat embarrassing... :(

After using identical coding to update/expand the "Further Reading" list(s)on the Eltham, New Zealand page - the citation styles diverge... Any idea why?

TIA

Boethius65 (talk) 11:24, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I just had a look. What do you mean by diverge? If you're talking about the way some of them start with the title and some start with the author, I'm not entirely sure, but I think that may be normal. I wish I could be more authoritative, but I've never had to do a big "further reading" list like you're doing, so I may not be the best person to ask. Plus, I just got back from Christmas shopping and my mind is mush right now :-\ There's some info on the template you're using at Template:Citation if that helps at all. Good luck and have fun. --Bongwarrior (talk) 06:37, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Still having issues with citations

Hi Bongwarrior (and thanks for last time - I got it straightened out)

Just done a kinda large bibliography at "Hawera."

I've consistently used the same citation style - and at one section ("Schools"), all I'm seeing is a hyperlink to Template:Citation where each entry should display. If the style is consistent throughout, any reason why the wiki is spitting the dummy of the last section?

TIA...

Boethius65 (talk) 08:49, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, no idea. They should be showing up I think, but they aren't. Maybe there is some sort of limit? I copied and pasted the section that wasn't working into its own article and previewed it, and they all showed up fine. So I went back and tried removing the last few cites before everything went goofy, just in case something was formatted wrong and it was messing up everything that followed. It didn't work. I'll try to have another look later and see if I can figure anything out. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 19:51, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Ghana Edit

I think the Ghana Edit is inappropriate because, such news should have their own page. That is to say, no other country has news like that on their front page...Medicineman84 (talk) 21:37, 4 January 2008 (UTC)1/4/08

You're right. I only reverted it because you inadvertently removed a bunch of needed sections at the end of the article, which you obviously didn't mean to do. I see you redid your edits, and I agree with your changes. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 03:19, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Hey thanks for the revert on my talk page...

...but I reverted it back. I keep a policy of never removing anything from my talk page...ever. Even stupid, nonsensical, personal attacks. Your revert is much appreciated nevertheless, keep up the good work! --omtay38 23:58, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I saw you had reverted it back and I was momentarily confused. Your talkpage, your rules, of course. I'll try to keep it in mind in the future. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 00:10, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
No problem! (I don't have it posted anywhere so you'd have no way of knowing.) Also the user has been posted on WP:AIV for personal attacks after last warning. --omtay38 00:14, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

AfD:The True Snow White - Thanks

Hi. I started an AfD for The True Snow White. If I'm understanding this correctly, you relisted this "to generate a more thorough discussion."
(A) Thanks for doing so, and
(B) This "relisting" thing is a new one on me. Can you steer me to any policy or guideline info about this, so I'll know more about it?
Thanks -- Writtenonsand (talk) 04:14, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi Writtenonsand. There is a little more information about this here. Because only one person had commented at the time, there was really no way to determine consensus. Relisting allows people to have another look at the discussion. It's starting to look a lot more decisive now. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 04:38, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Aimee Knight deletion

why did you delete aimee knight? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Singa87 (talkcontribs) 04:21, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

I deleted it because the consensus reached at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aimee knight was clearly in favor of deletion. The subject does not appear to meet the notability guidelines for musicians outlined at WP:MUSIC. --Bongwarrior (talk) 04:46, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Creating a new article

First of all sorry for adding such an unapproppriate extra link, but it's my first day and i am not quite sure about how it goes here:) Well, i noticed that there are articles talking about companies, persons, and i would like to create a new page for my company to define it and put some information about it; but i have been reading the guidelines and it looks that such articles are restricted. Would you please advice if i can proceed with creating such a page since it will include informative facts and not just promotive or advertising?

Creativecopywriter (talk) 11:47, 8 January 2008 (UTC)CreativeCopywriterCreativecopywriter (talk) 11:47, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Well, I would strongly advise against it. Aside from conflict of interest issues, Wikipedia's notability guidelines also come into play. Even if an article isn't just an advertisement, it still has to be notable. Usually, if a subject is truly notable, someone else will write an article about it eventually. Welcome, and take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 21:25, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
I would strongly advise against it too. Just requested Groove Advertising And Marketing Solutions for G11 due to the blatant advertising. Was also weighing up if the text was a copyvio of a webpage of theirs. --Breno talk 16:16, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of John Cowne

An editor has nominated John Cowne, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/John Cowne and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 23:59, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
