Here's an opportunity to step back from and not involve yourself in drama, and to show wisdom, judgement and discretion. Schmidt, Michael Q. 00:56, 15 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reporting usernames[edit]

In regards to your question on the Help Desk about reporting usernames, I forgot to mention something. If you turn on Twinkle in your preferences (it's under the Gadgets tab), then you will have an extra menu at the top of every page. It will give you options to do many things. One of them is to report a username. You just have to be on the user's user or talk pages and then the option to report them will be available. Dismas|(talk) 05:32, 15 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Talari Networks article flagged for deletion[edit]

I saw that you flagged my article on Talari Networks with a nomination for deletion, based on your perception that the company isn't newsworthy. I responded to your concerns on the talk page, and just added another link to more industry recognition they just received. The only other person who responded to the discussion noted that the article demonstrates meaningful awards and is non-advertorial - within the guidelines of inclusion on Wikipedia. I am writing here because you do not seem to be monitoring the discussion, and I'm hoping you can remove the flag as soon as possible and return my article to its pristine state. Thanks!Timtempleton (talk) 23:29, 18 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm requesting that you withdraw your nomination for deletion of my article on Talari Networks. They were just named a hot emerging vendor by CRN.com, and I updated the article. Part of the responsibility that comes with being a highly active Afd flagger is to be responsive when the post writers substantiate their articles and address your concerns with edits. I have commented in both in the article discussion pages and now here on your talk page. If you can't be available, please exercise discretion before flagging things in the first place. I'm reading the other comments and I'm apparently not the only contributor to feel frustrated by your actions.Timtempleton (talk) 22:36, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Advice and warning=[edit]

More than half you AfD nominations are resulting in keeps, with an increasing proportion of them speedy keeps. Such nomination are a detriment to WP; besides taking the time of editors in dealing with it who need to be doing other things, they discourage new editors from contributing. This is beginning to pass the limit of people's patience. I need to warn you that if you continue such nominations the matter someone is likely to take it further, probably by asking at WP:ANI for a ban on your doing nominations for a considerable period.

The best way of learning what makes an acceptable article is to write one yourself. The second best way is to take unsatisfactory articles and improve them. You would avoid much difficulty is you started doing these.

Please be aware that deleting messages from your talk page is taken to be an indication that you have read them. I hope this, in addition to the many many notices you have removed, may lead you to some understanding of how to contribute more usefully. DGG ( talk ) 00:58, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I second DGG. If you are interested in AfD process, try to improve your "success" ratio. Study older AfDs, try to "save" some nominated, and try to write some articles yourself to get a good idea of what makes a passable article. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:53, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Third DGG. In addition to the AfD's stated above, your Speedy Prods like this - a CSD G12 which in which the "copied" source was in fact a WP mirror - demonstrates recklessness. I'd focus on writing new articles and improving existing ones.--Oakshade (talk) 00:31, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
After having closed quite a few of your AfD nominations this evening, I have two bits of advice:
  1. Don't get discouraged; I'm sure you have great potential to contribute to Wikipedia and the community, but,
  2. Please make sure you read and follow policy so that people don't dismiss your contributions out-of-hand. In this case, WP:BEFORE is the applicable policy it seems you weren't aware of.
  3. SLOW DOWN. Take the time to read and research before taking actions. There's no rush.
Please feel free to ask me for any advice or assistance you need. —Darkwind (talk) 07:29, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Merged an AfD, what about the license?[edit]

Hello. I just merged an article you proposed for deletion here into its parent article (Ponce de Leon Avenue) and I turned it into a redirect. Wouldn't a delete break the licensing for the content? Biosthmors (talk) pls notify me (i.e. {{U}}) while signing a reply, thx 20:29, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
