I saw you tagged the above page and thought maybe you could help... the user who created it, originally added this image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Loxex.jpg in the infobox, however it looks like it comes from a store and not the user, as claimed in commons but I am unfamiliar with the workings of commons and not entirely sure how to report it? Hope that makes sense. Thanks! Chrissymad ❯❯❯ Talk 12:20, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

@Chrissymad: On Commons, when viewing the image or file, there is a "Nominate for deletion" in the left column under tools. Just click it and add that you found it at http:\\... any other info if pertinent and click "Proceed". You will then see a speedy tag appear on the page. Often it says it is incomplete - it's not done processing. Just refresh the screen to see the completed version. You may need to be logged in to do this (or not). Thanks for asking. changes in Zeynep Sevde Paksu

Hi Jim Actually writer wanted me to remove her page. Then I could not find how to delete the page and I just delete some of the informations that she told me that not true. thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aslıhanbulut (talkcontribs) 15:42, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

@Aslıhanbulut: It is quite hard to get such a page deleted. I suspect that all you can do is to keep it accurate. Normally, one uses a wp:speedy deletion (if applicable), then a wp:proposed deletion, if that doesn't work, an wp:article for deletion. The reason for deletion would be lack of notability. If there is another issue, I would suggest contacting wp:Requests for oversight via email. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 19:52, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

Has this turn into an edit war?

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

You have been trouted for: Can you help me?

Hi I recently edited LTTE wiki page again. But this time I had reworded it and clearly wrote facts. This has been disputed by another user named "DIY Editor" on the claims that I've made the article biased. I do not feel this way, please take a look at my changes I will write them again. I do NOT know much about Wikipedia as I'm a Newbie. So please help me out. I don't want this to turn to editing war!

These are the changes I've made: But in 2016 the European Court of Justice (EUJ) took a step toward confirming the removal Tamil Tigers from an EU terrorism blacklist, the UN has a positive role in this regard to this as well. [1]

This decision came about because the European Council appealed on the grounds that the Court had wrongfully assessed the use of public information and heavily relied on media reports dating back 15 years. [2]

My description of the changes I've made to the article: The EUJ are taking steps to ensure the removal Tamil Tigers from an EU terrorism blacklist. Therefore I removed the statement about LTTE being terrorist group in 32 countries. And I made a statement clarifying what's being done right now. Apt source given Rajeevangopalakrishnan (talk) 02:18, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

I spotted this user's edits and came here to discuss it and lo and behold they are already here stirring up trouble. The edits are clearly tendentious. I discuss this at Talk:Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam#Edits by possible single purpose account re: terrorism. Why this editor thinks the possible action by the EU merits removing the statement regarding 32 countries, not all of which being in EU, I don't know. Thanks. —DIY Editor (talk) 02:28, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

I then apologized User talk:58.173.2.159 for reverting their removal of 6k bytes of duplicate paragraphs on that page. So, the second IP seems to think i should have gone. I'll ask. No worries--plenty of vandalism to revert. We can't necessarily expect to hear back from the IP user, as the user's IP may change by tomorrow or the user may decide not to continue contributing to Wikipedia. If that's the case, our best bet moving forward is to a) cleanup the article or organize a concerted effort among fellow editors towards doing so and b) patrolling that article--or similar articles--for similar editing patterns. --JustBerry (talk) 09:16, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

Hi! I just took a look and it seems that you undid the updates I made to the Brookland article. I just wanted to confirm what I changed and why I changed it.

  • The neighborhood borders that were referenced in the introduction were clarified based on actual boundaries [1]
  • The Lincoln's Cottage reference in the introduction was not germane to the article, as this landmark is in another neighborhood altogether. The article itself even makes mention of this fact.
  • Several organizations/buildings that are in other neighborhoods were removed based on actual boundaries [2]
  • An internal link was added to another neighborhood.

If you have any additional concerns, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll revert to my version. Thanks! Tuboi (talk) 20:30, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

@Tuboi: You said "corrected conflicts", which to me, implies changes not deletions. That is why I reverted. Please feel free to undo my edit in the wp:page history. I would recommend leaving a clearer wp:edit summary. Thanks for the note. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 00:12, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

World Nature Organization - Changes in the article

Hi Jim, Thank you for your message. My name is Bettina and I was responsible for Protocol and Liaison at the WNO. I would like to ask you to please approve the changes I made to the page for the World Nature Oranization. The World Nature Organization (WNO) did not come to fruition and so I changed the article to reflect that. We had high hopes for the organization but unfortunately we did not receive the needed support and did not make it past a regular NGO. We thus abandoned the project and do not wish future visitors of the page to think that the WNO is an IGO.

Please approve the changes I made. Looking forward to you response. Bettina Pavel 79.119.102.27 (talk) 08:59, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

World Nature Organization - Approval of Changes

Dear Jim, Thank you for your reply. I do not have any external sources to cite. The fact that we shut down both of our websites, wno.org and wno.int should be proof enough that the organization does not exist anymore. We did not publish anywhere that we are shutting the project down, because we did not work with the public or any other entities/persons outside of our organization. Looking forward to your positive response. Many thanks Bettina 79.119.102.27 (talk) 09:21, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

Pornography in Judaism

Just saw your comment to my edits. I am new to editing wikis, so please be patient with my methods while I learn.

The original entry cited an article written by myself, providing a very misleading paraphrase of its contents. I was alerted to this by my readers, at least one of whom trusted the paraphrase and acted accordingly. So I corrected the misleading sentence.

The original entry stated explicitly that there is no prohibition in Judaism against pornography. I provided the most authoritative sources there are stating explicitly otherwise.

Both my edits were almost immediately reverted. I deleted the entry, temporarily, so as not to mislead readers, while I could compose a more thorough entry. Perhaps this was rash.

At present—at least for the moment—we have a collaborative effort with information provided that is not incorrect. But it is quite obvious that someone is editing with an agenda, and purposely misinforming the public. I am only doing what I can to correct that. Passengers edit

I perfectly and "adequately" explained my edit. In the movie's narrative, the character Chris Pratt plays is not a "date-rapist" and he doesn't "victimize" Jennifer Lawrence's character. As I pointed out, wikipedia is about providing unbiased information, not personal rhetoric. If that section at the very least provided a quote by some of the negative review that described it as such, I would probably understand and mind my own business. It didn't. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.152.130.84 (talk) 12:49, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

Sigh.

What part of "personal rhetoric" do you not understand? He doesn't know anything would work out for him and he is willing to sacrifice himself for her sake in the end. She does get furious with him when he learns the truth and he struggles with the knowledge of dooming her to his fate before waking her up. He doesn't think he can do anything he wants to "because he is a male", he makes an immoral decision during dire circumstances that he regrets and is willing to correct afterwards. This sounds like character development. It's a purposely flawed character whose dilemma is emphasized on before and after the fact. Has nothing to do with "date-raping" or "male entitlement". Forget it, do what you want with the movie's article, just don't tell me I didn't "adequately" provide an explanation for my edit. when I did so more than once. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.152.130.84 (talk) 13:34, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

California National Party edits

The CNP page has been subject to repeated vandalism by a disgruntled former member. My edits were to remove that vandalism. That person ran an independent campaign for CA state assembly while a member of the party but was never endorsed by the party and was not listed as a party candidate on the ballot. They have since tried to claim that they were the party's first candidate, and the "candidates" section was created entirely to showcase that run. Since it was not made under the auspices of the CNP, I removed it.

Please reinstate my changes. Thanks.

Hi. Maybe the Cayce page should be protected from instant IP use, seems to collect quite a few anom edits. I changed the 'discontinued' work with his records back to 'continued', the A.R.E. kept their research and ordering of these records going and Cayce's secretary, Gladys Davis Turner, kept working and organizing there well into the 1970s if not beyond. Ryan Braun Civil Law Suit

Just wondering, why did you revert the civil lawsuit section after it was deleted? I provided an explanation for its deletion in the talk section and signed it. That explanation was the same as the one provided to AntiCompositeNumber and he said that such deletion was entirely proper. Alternatively, I did revise the version posted prior to your reinstating of the civil lawsuit section, but I'm just curious about what is wrong with the deletion of the civil lawsuit section or more importantly, if such deletion somehow violates the terms of Wikipedia. If it does, please let me know so I can avoid ever doing it again. Thanks :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by HoustonRed (talkcontribs) 08:33, 27 December 2016 (UTC)

I don't think that Wikipedia's privacy policy applies here. After reading the Ryan Braun#Civil lawsuit section, I would agree that it does not contribute to the article and have no objection to its removal. I would remove it except that you have modified it considerably. I will leave its disposition to you. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 08:59, 27 December 2016 (UTC)

Separatism in Europe passage deletion

Hello Jim1138. I have undone your reverts. Here is a reason why: you mentioned that I did not indicate passage deletion reason. Please check that article edit log and you will see a reason with reference (strange that you did not see that): (cur | prev) 06:16, 27 December 2016‎ Жовтневе багаття (talk | contribs)‎ . . Ty for mentioning I needed to cite why I removed something. Contextually if it is obvious a bot changed my page to say I was a rapist I thought it would be clear. I will cite the reason as liable. Deven Green (talk) 05:06, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

@Neveded: I removed it. The source leads nowhere, couldn't find anything w/ Google, and the editor who added it WikiNouveau15 only made three edits, two were to hide the fact they were a new editor. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 05:17, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Hi Jim, Thank you for your reminder. I did that intentionally that I was updating the website to conform and standardize the contents to match how Wikipedia entries are done. The exhibition lists I removed can be found at the georgelegrady.com website, and also at Edward Cella gallery website: http://www.edwardcella.com/artist/George_Legrady/biography/. Hi Jim - page lock down

I am unclear of how to lock down my wiki page so no anonymous people can edit it anymore. I would like to be the only one to edit it. May you please guide me? This is a nightmare. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Neveded (talkcontribs) 00:25, 29 December 2016 (UTC)

@Neveded: I don't believe wp:policy would allow for you to be the only one to edit the article. Your page is now locked down or semi-protected until 27 December 2017. This would prevent edtis from IPs WP:ANON and newly registered editors until they have ten edits and the account is four days old. See WP:AUTOCONFIRM. If autoconfirmed users start vandalizing the page and blocking them didn't help, then full protection would be added. Then only administrators would be able to edit the article; neither you nor I would be able to edit. I have the article on my wp:watch list which I check on a daily basis. I will ask Oshwah, an admin to add it to his watch list too. If you add it to your watch list and then, on your Preferences (top right of page) under the user profile tab at the bottom, click Email me when a page or a file on my watchlist is changed you would be notified by email. Beware, this might generate a number of emails if a vandal starts up. I hope this helps. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 08:06, 29 December 2016 (UTC)

Hello there Jim - The page about the EU Flag

The title of page is kinda misleading, because the flag only has official use within the EU, if people at a rally in Canada start waving the American flag for whatever reason! that dose make the flag a symbol of Canada. I know that there has been a talk about this, but nothing seems to changs. A common argument is that many people in non EU states see their future in EU, okay! that does mean the flag symbolizes the continent, do get what i mean? funny thing is that the "African Union" covers more of Africa than EU dose in Europe, but still the page about the "AU flag" wait for it,,,,,,,,, guess what? it's called "Flag of the African Union" not the "Flag of Africa" or "African flag" Can you see the double standard here?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.144.126.211 (talk) 10:52, 29 December 2016 (UTC)

Sagarika Ghose Page on Wiki

Sagarika Ghose Twitter Profile[1]

The above is the twitter profile of the subject. She is freely expressing her views. The references cited describe she is quitting twitter. But she has not. The reference give a false notion that she has been silenced by those who abused her, which is not the case. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.220.176.69 (talk) 05:27, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

Is she? Please cite a source that she is tweeting her views. Concluding such from her Twitter account would be wp:synthesis. Also, if she is, that would probably be an addition and not a deletion of the paragraph. As the sources state that she had stopped. Jim1138 (talk) 05:47, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

Question/Favor

Hey Jim, I have a question for you. I need help trying to delete a page on Wikipedia. It is officially useless and has literally nothing of value on it. I was wondering if you could show me how to delete it. Thanks.

Here's a link to the page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Burn_Notice — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.191.153.220 (talk) 08:55, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

Deletion requires admin privileges which I don't have. You could ask an admin. The template is still in use on Pilot (Burn Notice). Would that be a problem? You could possibly a {{Db-g6}}? Include a link to the wp:TfD page. Sorry, I am not familiar with this. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 11:23, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

Dilbit Page

My thoughts are that the spill section belongs on the Oil Spill page. It is the natural home for it.

In a time when astro-turfing and fake news are significant issues, the optics of having opinion quotes concerning a spill appear to be supporting a particular belief. When one looks to Wiki to determine what Dilbit is they should see that information and nothing else. If they want to see information about oil spills they should see comprehensive information about what happens, including Dilbit as having unique issues. If I look up the word "release" I would not expect to find quotes about the Kalamazoo spill. I would expect nothing more than its defined meanings with examples. The question begs as to why it is included in the Dilbit page. Does it suit an agenda? Is there then a need for balance with a "pro" statement, and if so does that then relegate Wiki to just an opinion blog site?

False report in article The Birtley Belgians

Hi,

As a beginner, I unfortunately had very bad experiences with the French Wikipedia regarding some obvious false historical events. I mentioned them however they were not modified for exclusively formal reasons expressed a.o. by wikipedia.fr administrators.

I am writing to you in view of your previous actions within the English Wikipedia.

I happened to read the following extraordinary sentence in the article 'The Birtley Belgians':

[In August 1914] 'The Belgian army of 117,000 men had succeeded in holding up the German Army seven its size for three months; 'the Belgians who had survived were evacuated to Britain or units absorbed into other fighting forces' [sic].'

How can such a historically false event may be kept written in wikipedia?

As it is well known, the Belgian army retreated to the Yzer Line after the fall of Antwerp.

Soldiers of the Antwerp garrison, i.e. artillery soldiers involved in the defence of Antwerp's forts and left behind during the retreat to Ostend and Dixmude, fled north to the Netherlands after the fall and were interned for the duration of the war.

A few military individuals might have fled to Britain on their own initiative exclusively.

See a.o. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Yser#German_invasion_of_Belgium or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Redoubt_(Belgium)#Deployment_of_the_Antwerp_Forts_in_the_First_World_War https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Yser#Allied_retreat_to_the_Yser or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Antwerp_(1914)#Belgian_withdrawal (aftermath, analysis).

Thanking you in advance,

Kind regards,

AIlurus (talk) 11:46, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

@AIlurus: I am unfamiliar with this article. I notice that it is rather poorly written. It does read like a personal reflection. Are any of the references in error? The best thing to do would be to convert the references to footnotes. I would suggest starting a new section on talk:The Birtley Belgians. List your concerns and support it with references. Perhaps use wp:notifications to get the attention of significant contributors or use a wp:request for comment. If you do this, then with any significant edits, include in your edit summary "see talk" Jim1138 (talk) 00:33, 31 December 2016 (UTC)

Villagers (Minecraft)

Hi. I notice that you reverted a page blanking there. As this was done by the page's creator and there were no other significant additions (that is, nothing other than gnomish edits or tagging), the page should have been tagged with G7 one author request to delete. Blanking like this is regarded as a request. It might seem nitpicking, but if an article is re-created more than once, the reasons for deletion become important when deciding whether or not to 'protect' the title from creation. G11 spam and G12 copyvio carry more weight than A7 lack of significance, and G7 doesn't really carry any. (This isn't policy - just observed practice...) Peridon (talk) 12:08, 31 December 2016 (UTC)

@Peridon: Thanks for the note. Not sure what happened. I would normally add a G7. If it was Huggle, it should have informed me. I have noticed that Huggle does not check back too far and may have taken the minor edits as significant. I didn't check for previous deleted articles. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 00:23, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
I haven't the slightest idea what Huggle does. Actually, for my first 12,000 edits I didn't use anything - which seemed to upset a couple of people at my RfA. As I needed rather more templates for admin work, I looked at Twinkle, and found it did what I'd been doing manually - but a lot quicker. That's the only thing I use still. (I generally turn off things that try to think for me, and have fights with my phones over predictive text. Why is it always so hard to turn off? And so idiotic in its choices of words? End of rant...) Peridon (talk) 02:06, 1 January 2017 (UTC)

Auld Lang Syne

Hi, Jim. You had reverted an edit I had made to the Auld Lang Syne page. I believe you have made a mistake as I was removing a racist sterotype of scot speaking people. This page had/is making fun of scots' accents by misspelling words so they sound bad. For instance "Shid ald akwentans bee firgot" instead of the proper "Should auld acquaintance be forgot". By doing this it makes fun of people's accents and makes them look stupid. Please restore my edit. Thanks 71.120.84.220 (talk) 04:22, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

I've redeleted the piece about Qara Khanids in the History Of the Uighur people. My edit summary is concise about this issue. Wikipedia page inaccurate

Greetings,

This is Terrance Dean, and I have been in communication with you about the wikipedia page that was created about me by someone without my knowledge. Previously, there had been malicious attacks and misinformation reported on the page, and you graciously had them removed, along with blocking the ip address of the person who created the page. Unfortunately, and once again on the page, in the section titled, "Hiding In Hip Hop" someone has written inaccurate information about the conception of the book, and information and resources used in the book. Could you please delete the information in that section, as it is false, and inaccurate. There is no where online, in my writings, or any other place where I credit anyone else, or another person for my writings or works. Also, I fear that this person will again write and create more malicious lies and information on the page, and I would like to have their ip blocked. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Terrancedean37212 (talkcontribs) 06:27, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

In Response To Your Inquiries

Hello Jim,

Thank you for the message and notes on the page. As I previously mentioned to you I did not create the Wikipedia page, and asked how it could be taken down. You informed me that unfortunately the page could not be removed. Thus, the information on the page was created by the person/s who put up the page, and whom I am unfamiliar with, and/or, do not know.

With that, I thank you for removing the section on "Hiding In Hip Hop" and the previous person's remarks and edits. I have looked up some of the websites and links you asked for in regards to where my works have been featured.

I have a list below, so please let me know if this suffices.
