Greek FPL source

Hi, I see you removed the Greek language source for Super League because it was 'outdated', so does it not mention the pro status in the reference? It looks like it's an official doc and might be the official rules/regs, and these can be good sources for 'pro' status. Just because something is not fully up to date it doesn't mean it can't be used as a source. Regards.Eldumpo (talk) 14:18, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Alright, no problem. Kosm1fent 14:21, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

A beer on me!

A beer on me!
As you have been working very tirelessly, and juggling exams and editing work on here too. I think that you deserve to put your feet up for a few minutes and enjoy this nice cold beer! Υγεία μας - WesleyMouse 17:32, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
More like ignoring exams, LOL. Thanks a lot, although I'm not really a fan of beer. :P Kosm1fent 17:35, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
I could do with a few glasses of Ouzo personally. I love the stuff, but it sure gives me a hangover the morning after haha. Hmmm we could do with an Ouzo gift thing, for those who don't like beer. WesleyMouse 17:38, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
Sounds like a plan! I love ouzo, haha. Kosm1fent 17:44, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
I remember one time in Rodos (I think it was back in 2007 when I lived there for a year), when I got extremely drunk off ouzo, and lost my way back to my apartment. I remember a lifeguard on one of the beaches wake me up, and then offered to drive me back to my apartment. I felt highly embarrassed by it all, but relieved that a nice guy saved me and took me home. WesleyMouse 17:48, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
Don't get hooked up on ouzo!!! Indeed it's a nasty thing when you drink too much (never got drunk on anything personally, and never will). Glad you stayed safe, usually people in islands/small towns are really helpful. Only city people are dicks. Kosm1fent 17:57, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Care to read this Talk:Iraklis_Thessaloniki_F.C.#Merger_proposal to its full extent??
Basically, I claim these points:
A. GS Iraklis has not still withdrawn from Delta Ethniki. They keep asking their games to be postponed. They don't have a squad to present anymore.
B. They have not yet merged with Pontioi Katerini.
C. AEP Iraklis FC are Pontioi Katerini renamed (obviously). No formal links with GS Iraklis.
Thus, probably the respective articles should be edited accordingly. Or, we could wait until the summer, or whenever GS Iraklis formally withdraws from Delta Ethniki, and merges(?) with AEP Iraklis. Heracletus (talk) 04:22, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

I'vε already said that I don't agree with the merger proposal of the two articles, since (to this point) there is merely a rename of Pontioi Katerini to AEP Iraklis. Cheers Kosm1fent 16:07, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

Welcome back from your wikibreak

Aaaaah, thanks! However, I won't be back for long, spring semester starts next week and you don't want to see my schedule. If only I had a Time-Turner. Kosm1fent 20:03, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject Eurovision: Discussion on the use of navigation templates

Hello,

There is currently a discussion ongoing at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision#Template duplications on the future use of navigation templates (navboxes) within Eurovision articles. Disambiguation link notification for March 16

Hi. When you recently edited Polychronis Vezyridis, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ethnikos Piraeus (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

AWB tips

Kosmo,

Before I throw myself in at the deep end; are there any tips on how the AWB thingy works? I'm a bit of an AWB-virgin, and the user manual page is full of nonsense jargon. WesleyMouse 11:36, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm afraid I'm not an AWB expert, but what I know for sure is that:
  • First you need to make a list with the articles that you want to edit. The list is located on the bottom left and you can do that either manually, entering the title of each one and clicking on "+", or automatically, using the options in the dropdown menu above (for example, if you want to edit all pages in a certain category, you choose "Category" in the source menu and type the name of the category; AWB will generate the list for you.
  • After you've got your list, the next box contains the edit options. This is the part where I don't know exactly what it does, but when I want to do general cleanup in pages, I leave them all checked. On the other hand, when I want to add or remove something, I always uncheck them all, because otherwise it automatically skips some pages and I don't want that.
  • Finally, you go to the "Start" tab, type an edit summary and click on "start". The programm will open every page in your list one by one and you can make your changes. Always check them before you click "Save".
I realise this may not be much help, but AWB is a tool I don't use very often, so yeah... I think AxG knows more about AWB than me, maybe he can share a few words of wisdom with you. Cheers. Kosm1fent 12:01, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Your explanation provides more insight than what the manual does. I will contact AxG too like you suggest. Thank you buddy. WesleyMouse 12:04, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Oh, it's nothing. I've already contacted AxG, I need some guidance myself as well. :P Kosm1fent 12:06, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
OMG I think I just wet my pants in excitement. I literally threw myself in the deep end, and it worked. Successfully swapped Template:1981 Eurovision Song Contest entries with Template:Eurovision Song Contest 1981 on relevant pages including ESC 1981. WesleyMouse 12:22, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
It looks like you don't need me after all, that seems to be right. Also when making lists its best to 'Filter' out some results, such as Talk pages. I don't use AWB that much just for simple stuff like replacing something with something else like I did for the Ireland links. But honestly I myself don't know the full capabilities of AWB. But do ask me for any other help:) -- [[ axg ◉ talk ]] 12:44, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Very well done Wes! Kosm1fent 13:11, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Report at Admin Noticeboard

Kosmo, I've submitted an enquiry at WP:AN regarding the IP user going against decisions set out at WP:NCMAC. As you have also had involvement in this case, I am inviting you to participate at AN. WesleyMouse 10:56, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Ah, I'm not a fan of such procedures. xD However, I will help if needed. Kosm1fent 11:39, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
Good news Kosmo. The IP has been officially warned by admin, and their IP details added to ArbCom. If they attempt to revert things again, then they will face an immediate block. WesleyMouse 16:49, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
Oh good. I thought I saw some kind of "decision-enforcing blocks section" or whatever a few months ago when I stumbled upon that decision, but I couldn't find it now when I looked. Maybe that's because a part of me feels guilty for wasting my whole Wednesday expanding the Giourkas Seitaridis article instead of studying (spring break and all), but another part of me feels proud for doing a damn good job. Somebody's been busy, I've been checking the prod categories lately for ex. at the end of the day & adding any prods not already listed to our footy list. So I'm somewhat relieved you listed them yourself. :P ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 14:55, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

About Panathinaikos

Celticmadhatter (talk) 01:06, 16 April 2012 (UTC) http://www.fifa.com/newscentre/features/news/newsid=1613430/ third paragraph

http://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/%CE%95%CE%BB%CE%BB%CE%B7%CE%BD%CE%B9%CE%BA%CF%8C_%CF%80%CE%BF%CE%B4%CF%8C%CF%83%CF%86%CE%B1%CE%B9%CF%81%CE%BF

http://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/%CE%A0%CF%81%CF%89%CF%84%CE%AC%CE%B8%CE%BB%CE%B7%CE%BC%CE%B1_%CE%95%CE%BB%CE%BB%CE%AC%CE%B4%CE%B1%CF%82_%CF%80%CE%BF%CE%B4%CE%BF%CF%83%CF%86%CE%B1%CE%AF%CF%81%CE%BF%CF%85_%CE%B1%CE%BD%CE%B4%CF%81%CF%8E%CE%BD

Firstly, Wikipedia articles cannot be used as references, so the bottom two links are out of the question. Secondly, the first link (albeit from a reliable source) only reports that Panathinaikos has 13 less championships than Olympiacos, which goes against 4 equally reliable sources which list 20 Greek championship titles for PAO: [1] [2] [3] [4] Finally, no reliable source reports the years those 6 "missing" titles were won. All in all, I suggest you do not change content against without adequate references, as you may find yourself blocked from editing. Cheers. Kosm1fent 15:51, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) I may have to disagree with part of the answer there. Albeit there being another 4 sources which you state "out-weight" the one from FIFA. It would be worth noting that A) FIFA (world governing body for football) is technically higher ranked than UEFA (European governing body). Also the link from FIFA is dated 11 April 2012, which is more recent than the other 4 sources; that chronological data would technically stand more ground than the other 4 sources, which could now be seen as "out of date" information. The 4 sources currently in use may now be subject to a citation challenge, as there is now a newer more recent source that is contradicting information. WesleyMouse 16:10, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Actually you are wrong. UEFA is the governing body and FIFA has nothing to do with European football. Also the FIFA source is too ambiguous and cannot be used to verify a list of Greek champions by year. Kosm1fent 16:19, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Actually, you may find FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association (English: International Federation of Association Football)) is the overall governing body, and UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), is a member of FIFA. WesleyMouse 16:24, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm full of a cold. My brain has turned to mush, and concentration levels are at an all-time low. And not only that, another user is having a go at me over these templates, and has basically saying that I shouldn't be using <small>...</small>. I've already made note that I need to tweak them all. But as it took me so long last time creating/rolling them out; I am allowing myself longer time to do the fixing of them. But the user is stomping their feet and expecting me to get them done within 2-4 hours. I feel like screaming Kosmo. WesleyMouse 16:32, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
I repeat; UEFA, RSSSF, the club's official website and the HFF recognise 20 championships for Panathinaikos, and that's that. The FIFA reference does not carry more weight because "FIFA is the master of UEFA" (which itself is wrong). Four reliable and clear sources outweigh one reliable but vague and off context. Kosm1fent 16:36, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Oh that's nasty. I'll look into it, but I've just come back from my short vacation and already find myself in a conflict with Panathinaikos fanboys. Kosm1fent 16:36, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
You could always include the FIFA source into the article I suppose, and add a short paragraph stating that even though UEFA have stipulated "x" details, FIFA on the other-hand have stipulated "y". That covers all angels I guess, especially with UEFA and FIFA sources both being reliable. As for the template issue, I think I'm on the verge of resolving it. The user has now said "Wikipedia is a collaborative project", which I am fully aware of that. However, I am trying to explain to the user, how one person is expected to learn from errors, if they are not being permitted to correct the mistakes themselves, and at their own pace. WesleyMouse 16:41, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Nope. I informed the WikiProject on Thursday and the one user who replied, Koppapa (talk · contribs), said that since the FIFA source did not mention any years, it shouldn't be added. As for the templates, I can see the issue is almost settled. Cheers. Kosm1fent 16:49, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

18 April 2012 (celticmadhatter)

Sorry guys but the whole "Superleague Greece" article is wrong. Superleague as it is now exists only since 2006, why do they refer to championships since 1927??? So in my opinion there should be 3 articles about the greek championship. The one should refer to the panhellenic championship from early 1900's until 1959. The second one should refer to the "Alpha Ethniki" period 1959-2006 and the third one to the Superleague 2006 - .... Of course the second and third could be incorporated into one article since Alpha Ethniki and Superleague are similar. OR the other solution is just ONE article with different name - heading, for example "greek championship" that will explain in detail the greek league from the beginning (1900) until now. As it is now it's wrong and confusing. I would like to hear your opinion thank you!

Also I would like your opinion for something else. I couldn't help noticing that all the articles in all languages refering to F.Y.R.O.M are named just as "Macedonia" or "republic of Macedonia". Since the FORMAL name of this country is Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia why doesn't wikipedia change it? Can we do something about it? It is a very sensitive matter for Greek people.

PS Wesley Mouse I have seen in your profile that you have been to the island that I come from, Rhodes, isn't it like paradise? :)

First of all, welcome! Secondly, there are already two articles about the Greek championships: Panhellenic Championship (pre 1959) and Alpha Ethniki/Superleague Greece (1959–today). The only concern I personally have is that the Superleague article (and all sources) list every Greek championship since 1928 and not 1959, thus rendering the Panhellenic Championship article kind of redundant. Finally, due to this decision by Wikipedia's Arbitration Committee, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia is called "Macedonia" throughout Wikipedia, unless there is a need for disambiguation, where the term "Republic of Macedonia" is used. Hope you enjoy your stay here, and remember to read the five pillars of Wikipedia. Cheers. Kosm1fent 14:32, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
To whoever it was that asked me the question on Rodos. I use to go there for 2-week holidays between 2000 - 2006, and also lived and worked there for 10 months in 2007. I still keep in contact with friends who are over there, and try to visit them whenever time permits me to do so. As for the FYROM thing, exactly what Kosmo pointed out, a decision was made unanimously between editors. WesleyMouse 15:27, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Greek VANDAL

Hi there KOSM, VASCO here,

have you tried talking to this chap in Greek (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:176.92.120.99)? I don't think that it will do anything, but it won't kill. Surely losing my patience (why did i return beats me, this will NEVER end).

Kind regards, keep it up - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 23:01, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Greetings Vasco, and welcome back! I have encountered the editor, however I almost never talk to vandals – I bite them. :P I'll give it a shot nevertheless. Kosm1fent 05:06, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
In greek man, i see you have already warned him again in English, but let's try it in Greek to give him a final chance, if he still does not heed he's "wanting" to be blocked. Have a good one! --Vasco Amaral (talk) 18:19, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
  • Sorry my friend for bothering you. --Vasco Amaral (talk) 16:14, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
You are not bothering me. However, I don't usually use Greek on the English wikipedia. Has the user caused any trouble recently? If yes, I will warn him in Greek just for you. :P Cheers. Kosm1fent 18:24, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Nope, has not edited in three days. If he does i'll tip you. I know man, English should be used here period, but my idea was to see if he was only doing that stuff because of language barriers, if we message him in his (quite possibly) mothertongue and he continues, we will know he DOES NOT CARE. Cheers! --Vasco Amaral (talk) 19:02, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Speaking of which...are you sure User:Theodore144 is not User:Antony1821? Sure looks like it (Olympiakos edit galore, continues to screw player position wikiklinks, as in Pablo Orbaiz), why do i even bother beats me! --Vasco Amaral (talk) 23:14, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
Could be. He created his account on 25 February 2012, five days after his Prokingsley account was blocked. I am not as sure as I was with this previous accounts, however... Cheers. Kosm1fent 05:26, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Thank you

Hello Kosm1fent. Thank you for the kind note about Vasilis Botinos. Sadly, I don't understand the Greek language, but I can use translate.google.com to find sources. There is a function that helps me determine the proper spelling of names like Botinos in Greek, and then I use Google to search for articles which I can translate to English using translate.google.com again. Since I am relying on Google translate so much, if you have the time to check my work, I would appreciate it. Best regards. Jogurney (talk) 16:42, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

You have done an awesome job, my friend! I guess I could find one or two more references, but credit for converting that micro-stub to a useful article goes to you and you alone! Kosm1fent 17:02, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Remark

Kosmo, could you please strikeout the "bollocks" remark that you made on Talk:Eurovision Song Contest 2012? It comes across as a personalised sarcastic attack, and is unnecessary. I've been subdued to a lot of personal attacks the last few days, and have got a few users monitoring pages that I comment on, to see if anyone posts additional attacks at me. One IP has been blocked twice as a result. Thanks WesleyMouse 17:37, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

"Bollocks" went towards the edit conflict message, not you. Sorry if it seemed as a personal attack, when it really was not. Cheers. Kosm1fent 17:40, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Def'orts

Hi there mate,

was just about to write you, also apologizing for my summary as anon, even though it was not after an edit by you (not insulting but hysterical). Now for my "defense":

For example, Woody Allen has to be ordered in ALLEN, WOODY, Barack Obama as OBAMA, BARACK, and so on and so on. However, footballers have that "different approach" i just mentioned: some are known by a nickname (but already have that nick as their WP name), but many MANY are known by their first name, as Jacobo Sanz Ovejero. NO ONE refers to him as "Sanz", hence he should be ordered in the letter "J".

I have brought up this topic at WP:FOOTY several times and, even though it did not generate consensus, several users agreed with this approach (sorry i can't retrieve the diffs for you because it's in a very old archive, VERY, don't remember which) and i remember clearly User:ArtVandelay13 said he was going to propose a change of defaultsorts for footballers. Attentively, happy weekend and regards - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 13:27, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

I understand fully now, as I explained on your talk page. Don't worry about your summary, lol. Cheers. Kosm1fent 13:30, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

ANOTHER Greek vandal

Hi there KOSM, VASCO "here",

might want to keep an eye on this (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:176.92.133.175), removing clubs from box just because! By checking the edit history of the players mentioned in my message, you will see what i mean.

Two extra "pointers": of course, my message was not very friendly indeed, but i just lose it whenever i see this. Second, chances are he not even read the message or, if he does, not understand it. Please help me on this one mate (again, i feel the urge to leave WP for good ever so powerful).

Attentively, happy Saturday - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 18:56, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I personally wouldn't have said "The next time i see this, i will report you, respect other people's work." to the IP user. Firstly because its biting new users, secondly the IP may not be familiar with policies; and thirdly we are to assume their good intentions. I would have issued them with the edit test notice such as {{subst:uw-test1}}. And then increased the warning level if they did it again. WesleyMouse 19:02, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
I wouldn't call the editor a "vandal", Vasco. Apart from some obvious edit tests, he's made some useful contributions, like listing Júnior and Beto as free agents (I've restored those). I'd suggest we should wait until the editor makes more edits that are disruptive. You and Wesley have a nice weekend. Kosm1fent 20:11, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
To both KOSM and WES: yes, maybe i exceeded myself, i admit it again, and have issued another message to the anon user. Yes KOS, it seems he made some proper edits, like the ones you have just restored, nice work undoing me. But what about removing those clubs in boxes (in Lima's case, i think he removed seven or eight clubs!), what's that got to do with knowing (or not knowing) WP's policies? I tell you man, VERY HARD to me (almost impossible, hence i definitely think i should leave for good) to assume good faith, i cannot be more sincere about this...

You also enjoy (as WESLEY) the rest of the weekend, regards - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 23:36, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Yes Vasco, those edits were indeed disruptive. When the user makes such edits again, perhaps a notification in Greek will be in place. Cheers. Kosm1fent 05:21, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
On second thoughts and after going through the rest of his contributions, I will warn him (in English at first). Cheers. Kosm1fent 05:48, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

I have already sent him a message and it was not all that it could be (no insults, but no patience either), and if you see above, you'll notice User:Jaellee also lost it over this guy's approach in one article, apparently your countryman is one of those "talk to the hand" types. Maybe now it's a good time for a message in Greek?

However, we could be in for serious trouble, if it turns out - as it seems - he has several IPs to "choose" from...Attentively, have a great weekend - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 23:41, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

And for him, Fredy Guarín was NEVER on loan (here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fredy_Guar%C3%ADn&diff=493005079&oldid=492958628). Sigh... --Vasco Amaral (talk) 23:47, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
Why don't you report him to WP:ANI? There is little I can do besides warn, and he doesn't seem to be willing to listen. :P Cheers. Kosm1fent 05:31, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
Oh man, you reported it at WP:AN. xD I'm 99.9% sure that WP:ANI is the place where you should move your report. Cheers. Kosm1fent 15:20, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
I have moved it myself. Cheers. Kosm1fent 15:44, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Thanks my friend. However, as i expected, ZERO FEEDBACK for me, as the other reports that followed (including DEATH THREATS, disgusting) have already been addressed, really good for my self-esteem. --Vasco Amaral (talk) 18:30, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
Oh come on, death threats are much more serious than a petty vandal. :P Kosm1fent 18:40, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Could not agree MORE (even so i will agree more), but other requests other than that have already been given feedback. --Vasco Amaral (talk) 20:24, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
Removed the LOAN move for Guarín once again (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fredy_Guar%C3%ADn&action=edit&undoafter=493107396&undo=493320585). I am going to leave a note at WP:FOOTY but that's it, if you check ANI again you will see more queries after mine since the last time i briefed you about the lack of feedback, and ALL have been more or less addressed, what on earth is this?! NEVER AGAIN will i post a report there or anyone else, and if no one cares about it at WP:FOOTY then i'll stop there as well!

That said, i'll stop loading you with my complaints, you have always been kind and diligent to me, but you can't do everything... --Vasco Amaral (talk) 15:54, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) ANI wouldn't have been the ideal place to report this IP for vandalism. Don't forget at ANI the reporter and accused both get scrutinised. The easier (and probably faster option too) would have been to add the IP details at WP:AIV and they would have blocked the IP pretty quickly; plus that IP would then get monitored by admins in case they attempt to vandalise again. WesleyMouse 16:39, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Right WES, i have just been told that at WP:FOOTY after my report, and have thus relocated the report (that's OK, i forgive KOSM for "framing me" :) :)). Just out of curiosity: why is the reporter also scrutinised at ANI? Thanks and keep it up! --Vasco Amaral (talk) 17:02, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
I highly doubt the reporter gets scrutinised or anything, unless the report was made in a bad faith. Also Vasco, I'm sorry, but I wasn't sure about whether those edits were considered vandalism or not. :P Feel free to trout me if you wish. (Can you also tell me why the CL final is goalless so far?!) Cheers! Kosm1fent 20:22, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
Oh gooooooood, apparently I had to moan for a goal to be scored. Kosm1fent 20:35, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
I was told quite a few times when I've submitted ANI's that everyone (including the person submitting the ANI) is put under the microscope (so to speak) and the admins do "background checks", but I may be mistaken. Although going off past experience, when I submitted ANI's everyone seem to know about my contribs too even though I wasn't the one being reported - strange huh? WesleyMouse 00:31, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
Oh, that makes sense, how else are they going to see if your nomination was made in bad faith or not? I'm sorry, I thought "scrutinize" had a negative connotation. Cheers. Kosm1fent 05:19, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Enter the new week in style, from Portugal - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 19:02, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

The reason that nothing has happened at AIV is because you submitted the enquiry on the talk page, and hadn't submitted an official report on the main page. To do that you need to follow the 4 main points (in the green box on the main AIV page), include the IP's address and diffs showing warnings issued, and any acts of vandalism. If done correctly, an admin will review your report, and block the IP initially for 31 hours, and then if the IP does it again they get 1 week, and this increases each time. There are circumstances (if the blocking administrator deems necessary) that the IP could go straight to an indef block. WesleyMouse 19:20, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
Eeeek nooo done incorrectly. My gosh, I can see admins and the bot having palpitations now lol. The step-by-step guide doesn't say to add a new section like you would on a talk page lol. I'll fix it now. WesleyMouse 20:25, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
Oh, don't worry too much about it Vasco. :) Also thank you Wes for sorting things out. By the way, I've just watched Z by Costa Gavras; a film I wanted to watch for years but never got to it, and now it's easily the best movie I've ever seen. Kosm1fent 20:28, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
OK you need to use the following template * {{IPvandal|IP address}} brief reason for listing (keep it short) ~~~~ - replace the part that reads IP address with the IP number you are reporting. Replace brief reason for listing (keep it short) with a brief detail of what the IP has done, and provide a diff of the warning issued and a few diffs of the vandalised articles. Then save the page. DON'T add a new section like you had done, as that would confuse the bot that operates it. WesleyMouse 20:30, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Either Vasco or Kosmo, would you be so kind as to provide the IP number, and diffs of vandalised edits - I'll find the rest and submit a report. Phew; I almost had a heart-attack myself teehee. Got to have an early night tonight, its the funeral tomorrow, and I ain't looking forward to it much :( - WesleyMouse 20:33, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks in advance. Also, i'm kind of lost Wes, what did you mean in the last sentence, "Got to have an early night tonight, its the funeral tomorrow, and I ain't looking forward to it much :( "? I'm afraid i did not understand what did you mean man (i.e. "funeral"?) - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 23:00, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Don't worry too much about the last sentence. Kosmo knows what I meant. I'll get that report done for you soon. WesleyMouse 23:35, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Done AIV diff showing report. By the time you have read this, those IPs may have already been blocked. WesleyMouse 23:50, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Vasco, he's recently lost his mother. Wesley, continue staying strong. :) Kosm1fent 04:59, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
My deepest condolences Wesley, in the light of that, let all the vandalism in the world be i have to admit! No block has occurred yet but, i repeat, what do i care now with those news?

Best wishes my wiki-friend and a million thousand thanks for your dilligence. A firm handshake (oh what the heck, a hug) to Kosmo as well! --Vasco Amaral (talk) 13:52, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Good evening Kosmo and Vasco. Just a quick update on the AIV submission. AIV said they could block each of those 3 IP's, but as they all start with IP:176.92. and seem to be doing similar vandalism edits across the same articles, that a rangeblock my be better to prevent further disruption. The advice given was to submit a rangeblock request to WP:AN/I, but I took the liberty to do a quick check before I posted this message, and found instructions at WP:RANGE which may be useful. I've never requested a rangeblock before; and so I'll ask around for advice on how to get one done. @Kosmo, thank you for informing Vasco about the resent event, much appreciated. @Vasco, thank you for the condolences, today has been difficult, but now the hard part is done and dusted. @Both - And so, in the words of rock band Queen, "The show must go on". Going to be strange this week watching Eurovision without mother being there predicting her qualifiers and winner - she has got them all correct since 1993 - but I will say she had listened to the songs back in April, and said she thinks Spain or Estonia will win - we shall see if she was correct (again). WesleyMouse 20:18, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
Wesley, will you believe that I haven't listened to any ESC 2012 song apart from Greece and Cyprus? Yeah. First time since 2004. So the whole show will be a surprise for me. Enjoy the music (and I hope Spain or Estonia win now, lol). Kosm1fent 20:27, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Don't care much for those festivals, but i agree with KOS, my vote is for SPA/EST as well. Rock on! --Vasco Amaral (talk) 21:14, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Update: I've had a word with CT Cooper (talk · contribs) about this IP, and here is his advice on what to do.

Yes the range the user can be easily blocked at /16 level as Special:Contributions/176.92.29.172/16 (need "Allow /16 and /24 – /32 CIDR ranges on Special:Contributions forms" at Preferences > Gadgets to view). However, innocent user have edited in this range recently and it is clear that a range block will cause collateral damage, meaning a block would have to be short and long blocks are discouraged anyway at WP:RANGE. After briefly reviewing the three IP addresses provided by VascoAmaral (talk · contribs), I'm finding it difficult to justify a range block at this point. Reasons for this include the fact that many of the IPs edits haven't been reverted after several days, suggesting we are not dealing with a pure vandal, perhaps instead a good faith user that sometimes goes off track, and the edits are old - out of the three IPs the most recent edit was on the 19th and one hasn't been around since April - meaning a short range block won't help. Finally, only one of the three IPs has received a warning mentioning the threat of a block, which really isn't sufficient. I'm unfortunately still rather busy so I cannot follow this in much depth for another few days. WP:ANI can deal with range blocks so I would recommend taking it there if the user returns again to find out what other admins think should be done. CT Cooper · talk 21:32, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
