Celtics players

(that tool is awesome) Sure, I will help ASAP. I don't know if it is a good idea to start adding stats... at WT:MLB, there has been a semi-major discussion lately involving stats in baseball articles, and there seems to be a consensus to stop adding them. Since it seems like basketball articles have a very similar format to baseball articles (and football articles), the stats thing may move over to those sports soon. Not 100% sure about that, but an educated guess. If it doesn't end up that way, well, I can add stats pretty quickly...   jj137 (talk) 17:14, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

  • a subheading that fully treats an element of the topic

Thank you for your comments on my RFA. That darn program

Ok, requested rollback. It might be a bit, though. In the meantime, I'll fight vandalism the old fashioned way. Can I get rid of that program or should I just leave it sitting on the desktop? --SharkfaceT/C 01:11, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

J. R. Richard

I included page numbers in the notes section. Are you talking about page numbers for the references section? The article needs a lot more work; I originally wrote the article like a sports journalism news story, so it has a lot of weasel words. Furthermore, some people at FAC complained that the article was too stats-heavy. I need to trim the article down and remove individual game stuff. Nishkid64 (Make articles, not love) 21:14, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

It's Homi J. Bhabha. I expanded it a few months ago, but then I got distracted by another article. I need to get back to that article because it's incomplete. Nishkid64 (Make articles, not love) 21:46, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

While we're at it, we should trim the article. Braun's a sophomore player, yet his article is ~55KB. The rookie season needs to be shortened drastically. Nishkid64 (Make articles, not love) 23:33, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately, the source never provided a last name. I couldn't find it anywhere else either. I'll try looking again, though. New material might have surfaced or I might notice stuff I missed before. I've fixed the section headings. Feel free to change them if you think of something more creative. Lou Gehrig

I will take a look at the article shortly. I would suggest removing the fair use image (and tagging it as an orphan) since it fails criterion #1 of WP:NFCC. Also, I plan to nominate J. R. Richard for FAC tonight. Nishkid64 (Make articles, not love) 23:07, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

The other famous image of Lou Gehrig is Image:Babelou.jpg. However, it's probably best to have that image in the "Luckiest Man on Earth" section. Gehrig's pic from Columbia is good for the infobox, but I don't think it's the best representation of the subject. I would prefer something from his Yankee days. The Library of Congress has some group pics with Gehrig. You could crop one of those and use that for the infobox image. Nishkid64 (Make articles, not love) 23:22, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

I put this article up for FL. Is there anything to work on for it? And, I may be considering another RFA date, because I am worring about my withdrawal statement "...I hope to see you in 5½ to 6 months..." STORMTRACKER 94 Go Irish! 23:12, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Two questions first, just curious...

  1. Isn't it a list?
  2. Are you unable to move it? There is nothing in the protection log.

Hi MFC, I tried making a logo like the kind you and Chetblong make, but it sucked (Image:LegoktmPageHeader.jpg). So I was wondering if you could make for me like yours except instead of oreos a lego block. Thanks LegoKontribsTalkM 00:03, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

The same font as yours, maybe blue, and a red lego brick. LegoKontribsTalkM 00:09, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Ty Cobb FAC withdrawn

MFC, I've withdrawn and closed the Ty Cobb FAC you submitted, per the instructions at WP:FAC that principle editors should be consulted first. You've only made five edits to the article, it hasn't been peer reviewed, and I find no notice to either the article talk page or Roswell native, who is a significantly principle editor. Since you've submitted many FACs you haven't worked on and that haven't succeeded, it might be better if you consider working an article through peer review, perhaps to good article, and then nominate for FAC once you've consulted other editors to make sure the article is ready. Regards, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:51, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

From WP:FAC:

Before nominating an article, nominators may wish to receive feedback by listing it at Wikipedia:Peer review or the League of Copyeditors. Nominators must be sufficiently familiar with the subject matter and sources to deal with objections during the FAC process. Nominators who are not significant contributors to the article should consult regular editors of the article prior to nomination.

SandyGeorgia (Talk) 01:00, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

J. R. Richard

Well, FAC noms aren't a big deal (to be honest, I don't read them), but I'll start the FAC shortly. Nishkid64 (Make articles, not love) 01:32, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Okay it's up. By the way, could you upload the Gehrig image to Commons instead? Another thing: with LoC images, you must include a license (PD-US, for example). Nishkid64 (Make articles, not love) 01:42, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Alright, do you have Google Talk or AIM? E-mail me if you do. Create a user subpage if you want, as well. Nishkid64 (Make articles, not love) 01:54, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I made up an FAQ (or FAC). I' actually going to post the RFA tomorrow sometime, so you should post your nom soon. STORMTRACKER 94 Go Irish! 21:04, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey there, was wondering if you had spoken with either Wisdom or Pedro before you added your co-nomination to Wisdom's RfA? The reason I am asking is because it was decided prior to the RfA that Pedro, myself, and Rudget would be the nominators but that we thought that should be all. Often it is looked down upon to have more than three nominations and think it would be a good idea to ask one of those two users before you add it. Remember you can always add your support to his RfA! Cheers, Tiptoety talk 14:57, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Dallas Mavericks Article of the Week:

  • Jason Terry was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the tenth overall pick in the 1999 Draft. His excellent performance earned him a spot on the NBA All-Rookie Team, becoming only the second Hawk to do so. Within a year, he became one of the team's best players and top scorers. The Mavs showed interest in making him a part of their team, and he was traded to the Mavs in 2004, just prior to the start of the season. A solid shooter and three-point shooter, Terry has become an integral part of the Mavs lineup. Historically, he has had mixed performance in the playoffs.

Subject Matter Expert

I created a page in my sandbox to show an idea I have for creating a Page or project to identify wikipedians as Subject Matter experts or near experts on a given subject. Right now its just one big page but if it takes off it could be multiple pages and or projects. The basic concept is that if I am knowledgable about Math, Science, Wikipedia policy, speaking greek or whatever I can put my name under the category or categories I am interested in participating in and if someone has a question or needs help relating to that subject they can go to that page and contact one of them on their talk page. Obviously its more useful for popular or obsure subjects but in general I think that it would help to improve the public perception that Wikipedia content can't be trusted. Plus it will give new users or users who jsut need help. Its still a very rough idea and right now I based the page on the Logistics page of the Military history project but I see this changing into somethin much bigger. If you don't mind take a look and let me know what you think. I know that there were a couple of things similar for designating an expert but I believe that last thing that WP needs is another voting pool. I am going to leave this message on a few other talk pages of editors that I work with frequently to get some general opinions or ideas before I try and sell it to the WP as a whole. Please let me know what you think.--Kumioko (talk) 19:03, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Vikings Coaches

Hey MFC, just a quick note to say that there's considerable discussion going on right now about the standards at FLC. User:Tony1 is leading the debate with some interesting and insightful views on how we should improve the descriptions of criteria and improve our list quality. The list is complete, for sure, but is it FL, i.e. the best of Wikipedia's work? Not sure. Drop Tony a note and see what he thinks, I'm not convinced it'd make FL right now. Hi, I nominated commons:Image:Dick MacPherson.png for deletion, because Flickr states that all rights are reserved instead of it being released under CC-BY-SA 2.0. --Erwin85 (talk) 10:02, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Come on, isn't that cheating? :P Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 20:53, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, I guess it's OK then. ;) In any event, have fun at baseball. Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 21:01, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
BTW, I'll do a full review of your FLC once all the tons of issues that other people have noticed are fixed...or when I have time. I just don't want to pile up the problems until you have it under control. :) Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 23:46, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh, ok. I'll take a look now then. Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 23:55, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Your edit(s) on dyk

Hi, thanks for nominating articles on dyk, they've often been good. But please take the time to read the rules on the page, and whenever you make a nomination, please take the time to look at the article and make sure it's referenced (unlike eg. Suzuki GSR600) and when you've written a hook, read it again and think "does this sound interesting?" How is it surprising or interesting that the geelong-ballarat railway is between geelong and ballarat? Just take your time whenever you make an edit, it takes less combined effort when others don't have to fix your mistakes. Furthermore, please make sure you strikethrough your own comments instead of someone else's. Thanks. - Bobet 00:35, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
