Welcome![edit]

Welcome Randhawaharnir!

Now that you've joined Wikipedia, there are 47,377,043 registered users!
Hello, Randhawaharnir. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions! I'm W.carter, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge.
Some pages of helpful information to get you started:
  Introduction to Wikipedia
  The five pillars of Wikipedia
  Editing tutorial
  How to edit a page
  Simplified Manual of Style
  The basics of Wikicode
  How to develop an article
  How to create an article
  Help pages
  What Wikipedia is not
Some common sense Dos and Don'ts:
  Do be bold
  Do assume good faith
  Do be civil
  Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
  Don't spam
  Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
  Don't commit vandalism
  Don't get blocked
If you need further help, you can:
  Ask a question
or you can:
  Get help at the Teahouse
or even:
Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page, and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
  Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
  Help contribute to articles

  Perform maintenance tasks
Become a member of a project that interests you
  Help design new templates

Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this (your talk) page, and a timestamp.

The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!
To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your userpage.

Sincerely, w.carter-Talk 08:39, 1 January 2015 (UTC)   (Leave me a message)[reply]

Userpage[edit]

For making your user page look nice, see: Wikipedia:User page design center. You can also "clone/borrow/steal" the code from someone else's user page. Just ensure that you change it enough that it does not look like you are trying to impersonate the other user. Wikipedia:User pages is a good guide as to what kind of things are appropriate in user space. And when you use the work someone else has created, in the edit summary please attribute the work to them by naming the user you copied the content from. If you want to add userboxes you can start here: Wikipedia:Userboxes. There are also many, many customized userboxes floating around on user pages in the Wikipedia, if you find one you fancy just copy the code from the page. If you are further interested in defining yourself and your style there is also the Wikipedia fauna. w.carter-Talk 08:39, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 08:58, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Picture[edit]

Hello again! It's me from the Teahouse. What kind of photo do you want to put on your page? w.carter-Talk 09:22, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. I see that you have added a picture on your user page. You have uploaded that picture on the Commons as "your own work". This kind of uploading is called a copyright violation since you have not taken the picture yourself, but found it on the Internet where there are 605 versions of it. You can not just take a picture from the Net and upload it like this, it will be removed. If you want a blue rose, you must choose one from these insead. Or if you want a rose with raindrops on it, look here. Best, w.carter-Talk 21:02, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Giant panda.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Giant panda.jpeg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 14:05, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop uploading copyrighted pictures that you just find on the Internet. This site is not like any of the other social communities, there are severe rules here for copyrights. There are so many pictures at the Commons use those instead and you will not get into trouble. Best, w.carter-Talk 15:41, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Teahouse hosting.[edit]

Hi there Randhawaharnir. I wanted to let you know I removed your host profile from the Teahouse. I'm glad you want to help new editors out, but you need to spend a little more time here building articles, understanding editing policies and guidelines, and generally interacting with other editors in building the encyclopedia. It's not that you have to be perfect or anything, but I feel like you are still just getting started here. Spend a little time getting to know the place, and make a host profile when you feel ready. Thanks, I, JethroBT drop me a line 09:04, 3 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hooray! You created your Teahouse profile![edit]
