Speedy deletion nomination of OR-AS[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on OR-AS requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Notes[edit]

While we do try to co-operate with educational projects that are notified to us, we do need you to understand that we cannot allow articles that don't fit our policies. Please read WP:CORP about notability for companies, and WP:RS about the reliable independent sources you need to give to prove the notability. What you posted at OR-AS looked like a copy off their website, and was in promotional language (optimisation, solutions, expertise) as a web site would be. If your tutor passed you on that, it wouldn't be worth two cents. Look at other articles to learn about neutral style WP:NPOV - use the 'Random page' button near the top left. In the ProTrack article, now in Draft space, you slip up too. The use of 'we' is a sure sign of promotion ("Try ProTrack") or copy of somewhere else - or usually both. Copying from other sites is not allowed. Please see WP:COPYVIO. I've not tagged ProTrack as you've put more work into it, but as it stands it's a fail too. Promo language, possible copyright violation, no indication of notability, and no references. Another problem is your user name. This you probably couldn't have guessed (like you really should have checked out the style of writing...), but user names on Wikipedia (apart from the German language one) are for individuals and not for groups, organisations or even husband/wife teams. It doesn't take much work to decipher yours as being from the Universiteit Gent, and PM probably is Project Management. Or to go from that to see that ProTrack appears to be a University project. And to wonder if you are really doing an assignment in creating Wikipedia articles, or promoting ProTrack as part of THAT project.... Wikipedia administrators tend to become a bit cynical. You will be able to upload images once your account is autoconfirmed, read WP:AUTOC to learn more about it. Specifically, your account needs to have made 10 edits and is to be 4 days old, so will have to wait till 7 or 8 December.

Go through WP:IMAGES before you upload any image, so that it conforms with our image use policies. --Fauzan✆ talk✉ mail 13:20, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

December 2014[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 21:26, 13 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The name is fine, but you do not seem to have addressed the COI concerns in the block message. Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. Kuru (talk) 14:36, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
