Recent changes
- You can download the new version of the Wikipedia app for Android. The new version shows lead images, better galleries and content from Wikidata. It also has many other new features.[1] [2]
- Programs and bots still can't read information about images on many wikis. You can see the list of wikis with the most files to fix. Wikipedia in Italian, Indonesian and Japanese language have the most files to fix. On the biggest wikis you should use bots. Bots can add information templates to groups of files. You can ask other tech users to help you.
Problems
- All JavaScript on Commons was broken for a few minutes on Tuesday. It was because of old code in the HotCat tool. The same problem happened on some Wikipedias on Wednesday. It is now fixed. [3]
Software changes this week
- There are no software changes this week and next week due to annual meetings. [4]

Speedy deletion nomination of File:College flag.jpg
A tag has been placed on File:College flag.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Doomsday
I didn't support your recent ITN nomination and one reason was that we didn't seem to have an article about US nuclear rearmament. Having looked into what is going on, I have started a stub, which may help explain this: Renovation of the nuclear weapon arsenal of the USA. If you want to see this on the main page, I suggest you help expand it to DYK level. Also, I can't help feeling that this must have something to do with the new Terminator movie but that's probably just me. :) Andrew D. (talk) 11:36, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. I am fine with the nomination of ITN. I can make it up to DyK, but not without your help. - The Herald (here I am) 11:41, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
- Be careful what you wish for :) I have reverted your additions as the sources seemed too weak. A difficulty with the topic is that it is somewhat controversial and speculative. We should therefore prefer high quality sources such as the NYT and James Martin analyses, as they are likely to stand up to hostile critique better. To show willing, I have added a breakdown of the headline trillion figure so that it's clearer where the money is likely to go. Andrew D. (talk) 15:13, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
- @Andrew Davidson:..But are Rt and Washington posts strong enough? - The Herald (here I am) 15:22, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
- I didn't much like the RT but am not sure what it is exactly. The Washington Post article was quite good - lots of detail and not especially partisan, so far I can tell. I have put the post source back as support for a sentence about the dilapidated date of the arsenal, which is the main point of that source. It is early days for the topic and, as we bring such good sources, we can expect to rework the content around them. As other editors may be joining us, I suggest that further discussion take place on the article's talk page, ok? Andrew D. (talk) 15:40, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

WikiCup 2015 FP nomination
Hi there, just to let you know that I'm checking with the bot owner to clarify why you didn't get the bonus points for the image you submitted appearing on five or more Wikis as of 31st December 2014. From my count it was on exactly five, and now it's on six - once the bot is updated, it should pick it up straight away. Miyagawa (talk) 20:14, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
Why are you still up? :-)
I accidentally sliced a substantial chunk off my index finger tonight while peeling carrots for a salad. Luckily I found it sitting on top of the carrot peelings before it got mixed in with the lettuce & tomatoes. Not my idea of finger food. I now have to type with 9 fingers....slowly. Mentor, oh mentor!!?? AfD question
I was trying out TW on some AfDs that are just do-nothing stubs and stumbled across George Edward Smith It's been a stub since October 2009 - nothing done to it - but I noticed a wikilink P.O.W.:_Two_Years_with_the_Vietcong in the two sentence article, and an outside ref link [13] are both promoting this guy's book which appears the only reason for the articles. I put a SD tag on it, but it was removed with a message that the article didn't meet the criteria for SD, but it might be an AfD candidate because of questionable notability. Your thoughts? Atsme☯Consult 03:38, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
- Well, as I can see, its a stub and its not necessary to have a stub to be deleted. Those two cites are definitely giving the article a mighty stand in AfD and you may fail. The stub have the rotten wikilink, still I think its stable. Plus, never try CSD for these old stubs as they may ignore your request. Notability is the point, but anybody can go here and find some good cites and AfD may fail. If you are interested, you can improve the article as I have done to George F. Robinson. BTW, will you join my birthday party today -- - The Herald (here I am) 03:57, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
