Sideshow Bob

Very little of the article is actually about the last two episodes, so that isn't a big problem. The big thing Gran and I are after are interviews in which Grammer mentions Bob in depth, we haven't had a lot of luck with those. I was wondering if you could try and find the original magazine version of the EW Top 25 Simpsons episodes from a few years ago. The online version only includes the list, but the actual article includes an introduction in which Bob is referred to as "Frasier pickled in arsenic" or something along those lines. I can't find the exact quote anywhere online, so I was wondering if you would be able to find it. Dubs Article

Well, I'm relatively certain that that is the correct article. However, as I had stated when I first started the Hevstaf article, the source that I looked at was a paper one and not the PDF/Online version. Assuming that the two were one and the same, I linked to the online article so as to give people easier access to it. I mean, think about it: Which is harder to come by: A PDF, or an original paper copy from 1941? My intent in citing it this way was to make the verifiability of this source more readily accessible, which is now proving...ironic. Do you have a hard copy from 1941? It was not difficult to find for me, because the University of Baltimore and Johns Hopkins have a resource exchange that, between the both of them, is considerable. I found the article nearly a year ago, however. I'd have to look it up again, to verify that it is the correct article. If it is, and the hard copy differs from your PDF, how do we handle that? Will you have to order an original hard-copy, or would you be satisfied with a scan of the text that differs from the PDF? Thanks for not just jumping down my throat. List of awards won by The Simpsons

Would you mind taking a look at the page and letting me know what you think? I've been working on the page and I think its pretty good. I went and converted a bunch of stuff to table format. What do you think now? I'll get around to putting all of the choice awards into a table too, but I don't have sources (other than IMDB) for the noms (just the winners), although the noms don't mean that much. As for the EMA Awards, you would not believe how hard it is to find sources for them before 2001. IMDB only mentions the first 3 awards they won, and the official EMA site says they won 2 in post-2001 years. According to the official Simpsons press release (which can be found in the first reference on the page), they have won 7 EMAs. So, I used the DVD commentary for Bart the Mother as one source, and a six year old article as the other. -- Scorpion⁰⁴²² 04:09, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

According to this, The Simpsons has won nine of them, and yet I think the award is defunct, because I can't find an official website. Last night I went to sleep and woke up thinking I needed to fix a couple of things. I put too many Expressway sections in (that go beyond the South Side) and I have to add state recreation areas. There was an interview Harry Shearer did where he blasted the episode (it's mentioned in Planet Simpson) and if we can find the original interview, it would be great. Principal and the Pauper is the most obvious FA of season 9, so I think it should be our highest priority.

Robert S. Abbott House/Fort King

Hi. Thanks for touching base with me on my talk page. I think the discussion about "Fort King Site" you refer to, is the talk within Talk:List of Chicago Landmarks. A legacy of that is reflected in a footnote on the List of Chicago Landmarks page itself, in the footnote for Robert S. Abbott House. My read of all that discussion is that more information is needed, no one present knew of the "Fort King Site" name. I grant that it may not be the current common name for the site, but the NRHP infobox title for NHL sites should reflect the NHL name for the site, which may be historic and different than current. For example, in New York State there is a site currently known as "Old Fort something", where the NHL name is "Fort something" because that is the NHL name for the site. A few people not knowing the name is not reason to assume that the historical NHL name for the site is incorrect, IMO. doncram 08:11, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Got your followups. The "Fort King Site" could conceivably be entirely an error, or it could be a historic local name for the house. The house is located on street named for ML King Jr Ave. Abbott was publisher of the Defender. Fort King is like saying Defender on King Ave, I am speculating. Yes, the NPS could be contacted. Please feel free to do so. I have added the issue to a running list of mine on discrepancies of NPS info. I would eventually get around to contacting them about it, along with other issues, but I am not about to contact them soon. If you want to, go ahead. Thanks for your news note to me that the NPS has removed the incorrect "Fort King Site" name from the NHL webpage for the site. I checked the other items which I had reported and found that they also fixed one other blatant error (a similarly completely misnamed article for a Washington D.C. NHL), but they did not fix lesser errors that I had reported to them. My tracking at User:Doncram/NHLinfo#Possible errors in National Historic Landmark summaries now shows update for this fixes. Note the name for the NHL webpage now should be "Abbott, Robert S., House", to be consistent with other NHL webpage names, rather than "Abbott, Robert S. Yes, I do sometimes go into my bio entry to update it with info, but more importantly, I sometimes notice that people place confusing "clarifications" that merely stumble over old mistakes.

I did not come up with the phrase "world's greatest living cryptozoologist," and that comes out of being introduced as such venues as at FT's UnCon in London in the 1990s, by Craig Woolheater in Texas (2001), and as recently as by John Horrigan at the "Mass Monster Mash" 2007 conference. Do you wish for me to provide references?

As to the various editions of Mysterious America, also, sorry for any feeling of it being self-promotion. I merely was trying to clean up the publishing information that there are very different editions for 1983, 2001, and now 2007. But, yes, I hear what you are saying, and I will be careful about any over dramatic wording. Hey, what can I say. I don't write dryly. :-)

As to citations for my work that are not from LorenColeman.com and from Cryptomundo.com (where I blog but do not run it), I was just sent the following bibliography by a library researcher. I share it for your use or merely to peruse. At this point, I feel I should not be the one to add it from what I am getting from the user talk. It's your call, Zagalejo. Thank you.

The Simpsons Halloween episodes

Wow, it seems everyone wants you to take a look at various pages. Either way, I've been working on The Simpsons Halloween episodes and I quite like the way it turned out. I think it still needs some reorganising and clean up, but it could be a potential FA down the road. That's good. One thing I'm a tad concerned about is the use of the titles. In some sections, it seems a little repetitive to use Treehouse of Horror over and over again, but I guess it's better than using slang like "Treehouse" or "THOH" episodes. I've done about a dozen copyedits on the article, although it should be noted that I am not famed for my copyedit skills. The writer of the said article explained how the Filipinos incongruously translated every Philippine folksong during the American colonization as exemplified in the cases of "Sitsiritsit Alibangbang" and "Leron Leron Sinta" (translated as "Maria Went to Town"). Although the writer did not explicitly the translated title of "Sitsiritsit", he indicated that the translation of that song may make us laugh. Jan Kirby article on Newsbank

In the AfD for the Giant-penguin hoax, you stated that the 1988 St. Petersburg Times article was available on Newsbank. Do you have access to Newsbank to verify some of the claims in the article? I am trying to rewrite it, since the grammar and structure were horrible, but unfortunately, only the 2006 St. Petersburg Times article is of real use (the Daytona Beach News-Journal link Dan Hartung supplied doesn't work, and the third only briefly mentions Sanderson getting suckered in by hoaxers). At the very least, it would be nice to add it to the references list at the bottom. For that, I'd need the name of the article, and the date it was published (I know the reporter's name, and the newspaper in which it appeared.) Thanks! Horologium t-c 20:47, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

I think there are enough reviews although I'll take a look through EW and IGN and see if I can get some useful stuff. Based on the comment, I think it was meant that the instrument itself couldn't hit the necessary notes, but I'm not really an expert on theramins, so I can't elaborate. And for the article, it would be for Treehouse of Horror XV, right? As for "Treehouse of Horror" needing quotations, when I was working on the article, I debated on that myself but I think that since it's a series of episodes, it should be in italics. Ford's stepfather survived an afd based on a "no decision" There's enough in the book to protect him now from a repeat attack from the deletionists. Need a little help

I was wondering if you could do me a favour. I'm currently working on the Inductees of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame page, and I need the names of the individual band member inductees from 2000. The three bands inducted that year were Earth, Wind & Fire, The Lovin' Spoonful and The Moonglows and for some reason the RRHOF website does not mention which individual members were inducted. I found a few sources at Google news, but you either have to have a subscription, or pay for them, and I don't really want to do either of those, so I was wondering if you could take a look for sources using your news thingy. Episodes

What is the name of the program you use to find print articles? I think Laurier has something along those lines, so I'll have to try and get access to it, because it certainly seems helpful. If we're going to keep all of the episodes, we'll have to add things that assert their notability, but I think we should start with the earlier seasons as they are more important. Xihix asked me to ask you if you had any ideas of stuff to ask Bill in our return e-mail, so if you have any ideas, post it on Xihix's talk page or the WT:Simpsons page. I'm kind of disappointed because although it was my idea, I decided not to message him at NHC because he probably wouldn't have taken my user name there seriously but oh well. Anyway, one issue is that we were hoping we might be able to get some good info on some episodes (like Homer's Enemy because he was absent in the commentary) but the problem is that it would have to be published so it can be verifiable and thus useable in FAs. A Streetcar Named Marge

I just discovered that the DVD includes an animatic, storyboard and illustrated commentary for the episode. It's not an easter egg, it's just in the extras section. Anyway, I expanded the page with a little more info about the animation and some details about some of the larger scenes that were changed (ie. the scene where Homer interrupts the rehearsal, and the entire second part of Maggie's subplot are completely different). The Gary Forrester article has a long history of self-edits and edits by family members. The claims to notability are based upon exaggerations and distortions. For example, an endorsement is claimed by Random House on the basis of a mention in a book that a Random House subsidiary published in Australia. And contributions to a Forrester "novel" by famous writer are claimed when in fact the book in question is an anthology of baseball stories published by a small academic publisher in the U.S., and Forrester's contribution amounts to only a few pages of the book, buried in the book's middle. With each challenge to notability (there have been many, over a period of two years, by many users), the embellishments grow and grow, as the subject of the article and his family members get more sophisticated at gaming Wikipedia. 72.241.101.20 (talk) 13:51, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi to Zagelejo and tothe anonymous user - Zagelejo, whoever this is has some basic facts just plain wrong. Random House operates all over the world. Random House is Random House, and the book that was published in Australia was a Random House publicaton, expressly. This criticism is hard to understand. And the other claim is factually wrong. Nowhere does the article state that there were contributions to either of Forrester's novels by "famous writers." What the article does state, honestly and with citation, is that a lengthy excerpt from Forrester's second novel was published by the University of Nebraska Press in 2007, in an anthology with a number of other writers, many of whom are household names. Yes, many family members (including myself) have been active in the development of the article, but that was made clear on Wikipedia right at the outset in conversations with Random on the discussion page. The emphasis has been on facts and citations, because an earlier effort at the article was, as the anonymous user rightly points out, flawed. User Georgette.mccallum has been going around spreading misinformation and ascribing ill intent to two prods I made, to Gary Forrester and Gerald Shapiro, both of which seem to me to be less than notable, and apparently has been involving other users, because I have been receiving messages instigated by Georgette.mccallum. I don't know how to take the articles to afd as I am a new user, but would be happy to participate in afd proceedings. Frankly, I don't understand why a prod gets responded to in such a personal and huffy manner. I've made lots of helpful edits to bios of truly notable writers, which these two are not. And, yes, there is much that is exaggerated in the Forrester bio, which, if you look at the history, is being edited by Forrester and four of his children exclusively.

As I understand it, under the rules of WP: BIO, these two Wikipedia entries are not notable. I'm unhappy that the posse is being rounded up in this way over a procedural matter. Please help me understand how one goes about responding properly to this. 72.241.101.20 (talk) 00:09, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
