Graphist opinion(s):

I started playing with this image when I noticed something. The tadpole appears to get smaller as it matures. Shouldn't the body stay the same size (or even get larger) with each successive image? I understand it shows the progression, but especially combined with the scale bar, is it not inaccurate and/or misleading? – JBarta (talk) 09:17, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

When it undergoes metamorphosis its tissues are rearranged and the tail absorbed so I think the photographs are not misleading. However, I no longer need your help as another editor has produced a horizontal series as part of the FAC and I have just uploaded this to Commons here. I am sorry if I have wasted your time. Good. Wow, you can't easily see it, can you? I suppose that contributes to the effectiveness of the photo. It really illustrates how well the species' camoflauge works against certain backgrounds. What do you think was the cause of the purplish circle in the center, the camera or the vegetation? Chrisrus (talk) 20:17, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose it could be that the white balance on the camera was off slightly. Yes, the coyote is quite difficult to pick out from the background, especially on the smaller image above. - Kingpin13 (talk) 20:33, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The second image seems to have more noise than the original. Is it a result of the conversion from jpg to png? Cambalachero (talk) 14:18, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Pictures in png format when shown in size around 100px or lower seems to look less defined than an identical picture in jpg format. You won't have any trouble if you use it with size above 150px (better 200px in this particular case). --Lecen (talk) 14:22, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That's because .png isn't for photographs, it's for things like line art. Photographs should be maintained in .jpeg format (which does not support transparency). Br'er Rabbit (talk) 03:37, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I note that the caption to this image at 2012 Catalan independence demonstration reads 'One of the green cards handed out to attendees'. But the photograph is clearly of a page from a magazine - not a card at all. I hope the reason for your request to trim the edges is not that you hope to pass this off as a genuine picture of the card! That would be a little unethical, wouldn't it? Maybe a better option for you would be to amend the caption to say "A reproduction of one the green cards handed out to attendees, as printed in <name of magazine> on <date>. What do you think?
