== Re: [[Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kelvin Kwan]] ==

I closed it as delete as the lack of multiple English sources for the article. While I do not discredit the existing sources, they are not available to our English speakers (which, this being the English wikipedia, make up the majority of us). You are more than welcome to take this to Deletion Review, but as it stands right now, I'm standing by my decision. <span style="color:red;font-weight:bold">^</span>[[User:^demon|<span style="color:black;font-weight:bold;">demon</span>]][[User_talk:^demon|<span style="color:red">[omg plz]</span>]]&nbsp;<em style="font-size:10px;">03:15, 3 April 2007 (UTC)</em>

Oh jeez

Check this out[1]. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 04:01, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is my sense that batch AfD nominations should only be done when all articles nominated are substantially similar, so I think it was an error to include List of common Chinese surnames which is not in the same style as the rest. In that case, it should only have been listed individually, if at all. I've stricken it from the nomination, restricting the nomination to the remaining similar articles. Hopefully you can clarify your comment now. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks. Dmcdevit·t 09:18, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Replied here: [2] cab 14:56, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it's been relisted for deletion[3]... See this comment[4] also. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 18:55, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now in its own AfD - Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of common Chinese surnames. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 03:20, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Huseyincan Celil

I realize and understand your frustration with Dongwenliang, but such statements as "If you want credit for your amazing ability to copy stuff out of newspapers and translate it badly, go elsewhere," are incivil, however true they may be. Normally I would involve myself in such a dispute, but I am a little tired of reverting back and forth with Khoikoi on the categories. I suggest you get another opinion on WP:3O. Regards, KazakhPol 04:28, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Islamic Association of China

hi there, there's a fellow user:7day who insists that Islamic Association of China is called the Chinese Patriotic Islamic Association yet there is no mention of this "Chinese Patriotic Islamic Association" only mention of a Islamic Association of China in http://english.people.com.cn/whitepaper/18.html. yet [[user:7day] chidlishly reverts any attempt to fix this misnomer with comments such as "this is ridiculas stock puppets are destroying this page and the related pages". also perhaps you can read a little Chinese "中国伊斯兰教协会" translates into Islamic Association of China, correct? perhaps you could have a chat with the chap and try to sort this mess out. cheers.

Edits

OK, understood. I would appreciate not being blocked by gangs in the future though. Should I also put a citation about there being Koreatowns in all of the other cities that are not cited? Should I put random fact tags through the rest of the article? I'll find a ref to cite for the one that I have removed before in the meantime but please answer my question seriously and don't accuse me of anything again. Swatpig 09:50, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My original intention wasn't to piss you off. That was probably a bad idea especially since I have read your user page and found your interests are very similar to mine. You must understand though the little battle people got into with me was a bit much to handle- I was banned for editing my own talk page and only two of the people attacking me actually read my original edits. The ten or so people that were discussing what to do almost unanimously decided not to ban me until one over zealous guy who had no business in the conversation joined in and thought he was going to anyway. Forgiveness would be appreciated. Swatpig 10:07, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Muslims in Hong Kong

Are there enough sources out there to do a Muslims in Hong Kong? I randomly came across this article[5] on a Google search. Granted, it was written by an undergrad. I haven't explicitly tried to find information on the subject, and the only other information I came across was that they're trying to redevelop the land where that old mosque sits in Central, next to the outdoor esculators. Anyway, if you develop an article like this, let me know, I wouldn't mind helping. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 18:09, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CKS

Thanks for the comment. I understand the whole Free China thing, but the term Free Areas of ROC was not in common use by the ROC. They used Free China Journal, not Free Area of the Republic of China Journal. Wenzi 11:32, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for clearing that up, I see where the capitalization error was now. The accidentally-created page has been deleted. Just to clarify, {{db-owner}} is what you use if you have a subpage in your user space you wish deleted (you may use that even if the page was intentionally created and you just don't need it anymore). {{db-author}} is the one to use if you mistakenly create a page, and want it deleted before anyone else makes a significant contribution. With odd cases like that, you also can use just {{db}}, and use an explanation as the argument to the template. Thanks! Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:25, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can help you with Harvard ref templates. I created them (this variety). Later, --Ling.Nut 00:52, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I think I've got the hang of it now; first time I ever used them, actually. Been using {{cite book}} etc. in most other articles I've written. Cheers, cab 01:03, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Entarians - its creator has created similar articles

I checked this user's contribs and he is building South East type articles. However, its talkpage has a lvl 4 message which made me wary and the reason for asking for an expert. Could you look at its contribs? Thanks, Morenooso 03:29, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like you are way ahead of me! Morenooso 03:30, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the compliment. You're very efficient. Morenooso 03:39, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like someone may have violated WP:CANVASS to influence the vote. There is an AfD message that states "IF you receive a message telling you to vote" etc. I am sure the closing Admin will know this but there is always the one newbie who does not. Morenooso 04:00, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Entarian affair

I've got the AfD watchlisted now, so if it deteriorates any further than it already has, I'll be on it. There seems to be something like it roughly every 6 months with a pretty similar result, but this one's currently behaving itself a bit more. HK Government Romanisation

What do you know about the way that the HK government romanises Chinese into English? Can you weigh in here if you have any knowledge about that? Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 17:05, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AFD socks

Hi. Unless these apparent sockpuppets are causing real damage now, I think that it is best to raise this at WP:SPP. It seems fairly clearcut, but it is obvious that the socks are likely coming from a dynamic IP (hence the two IP addresses). It is also possible that these are mutiple users (kids at a school), so should probably be investigated properly. I will keep an eye on the AFD but I wouldn't worry, there is no way that the closing admin will not take into account the sock like activity, and the articles will get deleted (it is annoying that current policy means we have to go through this process).
