Mr. Big is a boss fighter in Art of Fighting and has also appeared in King of Fighters and Neo Geo Battle Coliseum fighting game series.

Mr. Big was part of what was probably the most overpowered team (at least canon-wise) in King of Fighters history: the 96 Boss Team, composed of him, Geese Howard and Wolfgang Krauser, the three bosses of SNK's other modern day fighting franchises. Although the team made only one appearance, and only Geese and Mr. Big have been back in the last SNKP games: Neogeo Battle Coliseum and King of Fighters XI (only as secret characters in console versions), it is still one of the most fondly remembered teams in KOF history.

Although not confirmed, many believe that Mr. Big is also a street pimp. These concerns are brought up by his pre-fight intros where he has two scantly clad women by his side prior to the fight.

History

Art of Fighting

Mr. Big has been involved with the mob for as long as he can remember. He made it big in Southtown, a city as seedy and corrupt as he is. Rather than pay tribute to Geese Howard, boss of all organized crime in town, Mr. Big joined Geese's organization, and quickly rose to become his right-hand man.

While Geese was out of town on business, he left Big in charge. Big secretly feared Takuma Sakazaki, the master of Kyokugenryu Karate, so he ordered the kidnapping of Takuma's daughter, Yuri, and threatened Takuma into working for him. Unfortunately, the plan backfired when Ryo Sakazaki and Robert Garcia fought their way through Southtown's crime to find both of them, beating Big senseless to rescue Yuri and Takuma.

The King of Fighters

In 1996, Geese brought Mr. Big and Wolfgang Krauser to The King of Fighters, and revealed that he was after the Orochi power following the tournament's dramatic conclusion. Enraged, Mr. Big had a sniper take a shot at Geese, but the plan failed, and Mr. Big bailed out. Big has not been seen since; he may have escaped Southtown when the Zero Cannon fired on it in 2000.

Trivia

  • Mr.Big makes various cameos in KOF, mainly in Italy stage (KOF 2002, along with Krauser) and Parking Lot stage (KOF Maximum Impact). Also appears as Takuma's unlockable Maniac Striker in the console version of KOF 2000.
  • Mr. Big's very first super move from Art of Fighting one, the Lightning Cross, never made it into the KOF series. Instead, his KOF and NGBC version stem from his Art of Fighting two appearance, using his Hyper Ground Blaster as a standard super.
  • Mr. Big's Diving Cross bears more than a passing resemblance to the Psycho Crusher used by noted Street Fighter 2 villain M.Bison.
  • Mr. Big had a roll-forward-and-strike move in Art of Fighting one that was unavailable to the players. Only the CPU could seemingly perform this move.
  • According to his King of Fighters XI win screen, Mr.Big holds his fist out and, due to modern urban vernacular, is keeping his pimp hand strong.
