Joseph (Joey) Graham (born June 11, 1982 in Wilmington, Delaware) is an American professional basketball player currently with the Toronto Raptors of the NBA. After a stellar senior year at Oklahoma State University in which he showed incredible athleticism and the ability to take control of a game while playing for the Cowboys. Graham also earned a degree in aviation management while at Oklahoma State University. Graham was selected 16th overall in the 2005 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors.

Much anticipation was heaped upon him as he was chosen with one of the two first round picks acquired from the much maligned Vince Carter who was traded to the New Jersey Nets during the 2004–05 season. Joey started his rookie season as a Raptors starter, playing as small forward and was given difficult tasks such as guarding much more experienced players such as Vince Carter, Antawn Jamison, Tayshaun Prince, and LeBron James. After five games, he was moved out of the starting lineup and replaced by the 5-year Raptors veteran, Morris Peterson. For his entire rookie season, Graham averaged 6.5 points per game.

Joey Graham has been stated as a mercurial player by N.B.A but has shown improvements in the 2008-2009 season by averaging 13.1 points and 4.4 rebounds in 8 February Games and has been place as the Raptors rotation as the their sixth man.[2]

Joey Graham has a fraternal twin brother, Stephen of the NBA's Indiana Pacers, who has been his long-time rival and has previously played for the Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, and Portland Trail Blazers.

Joey and Stephen attended Brandon High school, and attended Central Florida for their first two years of college. Later, they transferred to OSU.

On October 29 2007 The Raptors extended Graham's contract which runs through 2008–09.[3]

NBA career

Graham was selected with the 16th overall pick by the Toronto Raptors in the 2005 draft. On February 10, 2009, Graham tied his career-high with 24 points in a 110–102 win over the Timberwolves.[4] In the beginning of the 2008-2009 season Graham sat for most of the preseason due to a hamstring injury. When Graham came back, at the time , coach Sam Mitchell gave Graham a clean slate and allowed Graham to start ahead of the fan favorite Jamario Moon. Graham reacted with good numbers,12 points and 4 rebounds, which allowed Graham another start. Throughout the preseason Graham averaged an average 6.5 points. When the actual season began Graham came of the bench and started the first 3 games with an unimpressive 2 points average. In the early month of November Graham had D.N.P's in 3 games (most of his minutes coming from blowout wins and losses). It seemed as if Graham would have the same season that he had last season. In November 26, against the Charlotte, Graham recorded 17 points and 6 rebounds in a season high 21:5 minutes. Since then Graham has been into the sixth man role of the Raptors. Averaging just under 10 points since the game against the Charlotte proving that he could break out of his inconsistency. Joey Graham has recorded 20 points or more 3 times in this season with 22 versus Phoenix (January 22) 24 versus Los Angeles (February 4) and 24 versus Minnesota (February 10). On February 10, 2009, Graham tied his career-high with 24 points in a 110–102 win over the Timberwolves.[5] Joey Graham has averaged 13.0 points and 4.6 rebounds in the month of February. The 2008-2009 season has been a turning point of his career. He is averaging career high in points (8.0), career high in rebounds (3.8) and minutes (20.9) also Graham has recorded career highs twice with 22 points versus Phoenix Jan 18 and 24 points versus Los Angeles.

Graham has been injured as of February 24 due to a strained right hamstring[6]
