That Metal Show is a talk show hosted by Eddie Trunk with co-hosts Jim Florentine and Don Jamieson. It premiered on VH1 Classic on November 15, 2008. New episodes air on VH1 Classic on Saturday nights and are rebroadcast throughout the week.

The show focuses on discussions about "all things hard rock & heavy metal", past and present. Among the regular segments are round table discussions and debates between the three regular hosts, interviews with heavy metal musicians, "Stump the Trunk," where audience members ask trivia questions of host Eddie Trunk, and "The Throwdown," where the hosts and guests debate great moments and figures in metal history.

Show highlights include a discussion about Metallica's new album Death Magnetic. The guy's soon bring out the week's guest Yngwie Malmsteen, who talks about his new album and how he got in to playing guitar. Jim and Don pretend to be tour guides at the New York Hard Rock Cafe. Eddie gets two out of four correct on "Stump the Trunk". In the "Whatever Happened To" segment, the guy's talk about what happened to Stryper. "The Throwdown" features a heated debate over the most important band in the history of metal music, with Don and Jim supporting Black Sabbath, Eddie supporting Led Zeppelin, and Yngwie nominating Deep Purple.

The show opens with a discussion about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's apparent ignorance of heavy metal acts in their induction procedures. Jay Jay French & Dee Snider discuss the early years of Twisted Sister, contrasted with their recent reunion tours. Eddie gets two out of four correct on "Stump the Trunk". In "whatever Happened To" they discuss what happened to Cinderella. The show ends with "The Throwdown" between the Kiss Army and fans of Rush. Jay Jay and Jim chose Rush, while Dee, Eddie and Don chose Kiss.

Mike Portnoy, drummer of Dream Theater, joins Eddie, Don, and Jim in the studio. Don and Jim play a practical joke on Eddie, tricking him into getting a tattoo of his favorite band, UFO. Eddie gets two out of four correct on "Stump the Trunk" (while Mike Portnoy gets the ones that Eddie misses, going two for two). "The Throwdown" pits 80's glam metal band Britny Fox versus pop-diva Britney Spears.

Baseball player and metal music aficionado Mike Piazza appears in studio. The show opens with a discussion of Mike's experiences back stage at a Guns N' Roses show. Eddie and Jim interview Angus Young and Brian Johnson of AC/DC. Eddie gets two right on "Stump the Trunk.". In "The Throwdown" the panel debates which was the best band from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, (Iron Maiden or Judas Priest).
6	Kiss	December 20, 2008	Ace Frehley
Ace Frehley, former lead guitarist of Kiss sits in with Eddie, Don and Jim and discusses his life in music. Don and Jim interview several tribute bands at a club in the Bowery. Eddie gets one out of three correct at "Stump the Trunk", but begins to question the veracity of the questions being asked of him. The panel reviews the documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil as their "Pick of the Week". "Throwdown" debates the merits of Black Sabbath's two most significant frontmen: Ozzy Osbourne versus Ronnie James Dio.
7	Rush	December 27, 2008	Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson
Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson discuss the 30+ year career of Rush. Eddie gets two and a half out of three correct on "Stump the Trunk". In their "Pick of the Week", the hosts review the British magazine Classic Rock. "The Throwdown" features a match-up between video-vixens, Tawny Kitaen and Bobbie Brown.

To start off the new season, special guest Vinnie Paul of Pantera and Damageplan makes an appearance. They discussed recent events about Vinnie such as the new release of the book about Vinnie's late brother Dimebag Darrell. Also, Vinnie gives the guys a copy of Vinnie's new collaboration with the guys of Type O Negative titled Seventh Void. The guys later search for the new "Box of Junk" girl and choose Kerri Leigh from Tennessee. Eddie gets two out of three right on "Stump The Trunk" and this episode's "Throwdown" deals with old Metallica vs. new Metallica. Jim and Don pick new Metallica while Eddie and Vinnie pick old Metallica.

They begin the episode by discussing music in the digital age and the differences between listening to an album and downloading songs off of iTunes. They welcome out Nuno Bettencourt and Gary Cherone (who enters through the audience). They discuss several things including the reasons that Extreme is coming back now and how it was following David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar in Van Halen. Don and Jim revisit the "Van Halen TV" bit and go to London for "Motörhead TV". Eddie got two and a half out of four in "Stump the Trunk." The pick of the weeks were Danko Jones by Jim, The Binges by Don, and Richie Kotzen by Eddie. They discuss "Whatever Happened to" Jason Newsted.In "The Throwdown" they debate which is the "meaner" album: Slayer's Reign in Blood or Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power. Gary, Nuno, Jim, and Don chose Pantera and Eddie chose Slayer.

In this multi-part episode, Eddie and the boys attend the 2009 edition of the festival at Donington, England. Concert footage includes full songs by: Def Leppard (Hysteria, Animal, Armageddon It,and Pour Some Sugar on Me), Faith No More (Land of Sunshine, Introduce Yourself, and Easy), Korn (Another Brick in the Wall Parts 1,2,3), Slipknot (Wait and Bleed), Tesla (Signs, and Modern Day Cowboy), Journey (Ask the Lonely, Separate Ways, Don't Stop Believin, and Anyway You Want It), and Tim "Ripper" Owens (Scream Machine). Also Duff McKagan along with members from Hatebreed and Slipknot participate in another round of "Stump the Trunk". Then in the throwdown, the guys along with Buckcherry decide who they want to see perform live.

In the season 3 opener the boys begin the season by celebrating their first 1 hour special, (not counting the download festival) their new sponsor budweiser as well as Kiss finally becoming eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They bring out Anvil for a second time and ask them how the movie has affected their career and what the highlight of their career have been. Next they bring out a second guest, the band's former roadie and the director of Anvil! The Story of Anvil, Sacha Gervasi. Eddie asks Sacha why he decide to direct the movie and why so long since the time Sacha was Anvil's roadie. Next they introduce a new segment for the show "Living The High Life with...", where Anvil got to talk to former Pantera-vocalistPhil Anselmo. In Stump The Trunk Eddie starts the season strong with 2 out of 3. In whatever happened to we find out happened to the German heavy metal band Accept. And in the throwdown they pitch classic Motörhead line-up against the current Motörhead lineup. Anvil and Don chose the current line-up while Sacha, Eddie and Jim chose the classic line-up. And finally,on the first ever live performance on that metal show Anvil end the show with "March of the Crabs", "Metal on Metal", and "Flying Blind".
2	Judas Priest	October 10, 2009	Rob Halford
In the second episode of season three Eddie points out that many of their heavy metal heroes are losing their strength to perform. Jim points out that bands like Aerosmith have on many occasions suffered on stage injuries. Legendary heavy metal singer Rob Halford is the guest for the week. Halford states how big of a fan he is of the show and that the new Halford album will be out next year. In the "Living the High Life with.." segment Jim and Don visit the legendary rock clothing store "Trash n' Vaudville". The pick of the week is the re-release of Whitesnake's 1984 US-breakthrough album, Slide It In. In the "Whatever Happened To" segment we find out whatever happened to James LoMenzo. In the throwdown the debate who was the better frontman of the band Rainbow. Eddie, Rob, and Jim chose Ronnie James Dio while Don choses Joe Lynn Turner.
3	Chris Jericho	October 17, 2009	Chris Jericho
In the third episode of season three the show features WWE superstar and metal fanatic Chris Jericho, who is also the lead singer of metal band Fozzy. They talk about Fozzy's upcoming album Chasing the Grail. The guys also speak about Sebastian Bach, Scott Ian, and Axl Rose who were on Eddie's radio show that week. An old argument between Chris and Don over Bruce Dickinson led Iron Maiden and Paul Di'Anno led Iron Maiden is also rehashed. In "Living the High Life with..." Guitarist Kerry King and drummer Dave Lombardo both of the band Slayer review albums such as Megadeth's Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?, Journey's Greatest Hits, Motörhead's Ace of Spades, Nirvana's Nevermind, and Stryper's The Yellow and Black Attack. In the "Pick of the Week" segment they talk about Ace Frehley's new release Anomaly. In the "Whatever Happened To" segment they talk about former Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick. Finally in a heated "Throwdown" segment they debate the vocal abilities of Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson and Judas Priest's Rob Halford. Don, Jim and Eddie chose Halford while Jericho sided with Dickinson.
4	Overkill	October 24, 2009	D.D. Verni and Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth
In the fourth episode of season three they bring in Overkill members Bobby Ellsworth and D.D. Verni. Our hosts ask them what direction their music career direction and about their side projects. They introduce yet another new segment "10 Questions" with Matt Sorum. In the pick of the week the boys picked Megadeth's new album Endgame. We find out whatever happened to former Anthrax guitarist Dan Spitz and his brother Dave. In an unusual throwdown over who had the better duet; Ozzy and Lita Ford versus Ozzy and Miss Piggy. Don, Eddie and Jim chose Miss Piggy over Lita. As our hosts start to argue with Overkill, Lita and her big strong husband Jim Gillette walk in to promote Lita's new album Wicked Wonderland.

In the fifth episode of season three the show starts with Eddie, Don and Jim talking about band's doing their classic album from beginning to end live like Aerosmith and Mötley Crüe. The guys bring out the week's guest Blackie Lawless, who talks about touring, W.A.S.P's iconic song "Animal (Fuck Like A Beast)" and the social commentary in his performances in the 80's. In "Living the High Life with..", Eddie and Jim talk to Alice Cooper about his infamous stage show. In "Stump The Trunk" Eddie got 3 of 4 questions right. the pick of the week is actually Don and Jim's "Terrorizing Telemarketers Vol. 5" comedy CD. In the "Whatever Happened To" segment they talk about former Thin Lizzy-guitarist Gary Moore. In "The Throwdown" they debate which album was better, Kiss Alive I or Kiss Alive II. Blackie and Jim chose I, while Don and Eddie chose II.

In the sixth episode of season three, the show starts with a discussion of how grunge almost "killed" heavy metal. The week's guest Steve Vai soon enters talking about his work with David Lee Roth, Whitesnake, Alcatrazz and Frank Zappa. He also talks about his new CD and DVD Where the Wild Things Are. In "Living the High Life with..", Eddie and Don talk to the hard rock supergroup Chickenfoot. In "Stump The Trunk" Eddie got only 1 of 3 of the questions right. The pick of the week is AC/DC's new Backtracks box-set. In the "Whatever Happened To" segment they talk about former Quiet Riot-guitarist Carlos Cavazo. In "The Throwdown", they debate which was better, 70's Scorpions or 80's Scorpions. Steve Vai, Eddie and Don chose 70's while Jim choses 80's.

Episode eight of season three starts with Eddie, Don and and Jim talking about their favorite albums of all time and non-metal or rock bands that they also listen, so called "guilty pleasures". Stephen Pearcy and Warren DeMartini of Ratt soon enter to talk about what's been going on with Ratt recently. In "Living the High Life with..", Eddie, Don and and Jim talk to Aerosmith's guitarist Joe Perry, who does an album review for Aerosmith's albums and his own solo albums. In "Stump the Trunk" Eddie got all three questions right (one of the "Trunk Stumper's" was a survivor of the 2003 Station nightclub fire). The pick of the week is the 25th anniversary re-release of Def Leppard's Pyromania. In "Whatever Happened To" the group tries to find-out whatever happened to guitarist Jake E. Lee. In "The Throwdown", they debate which was the better glam metal debut album: Poison's Look What the Cat Dragged In or Cinderella's Night Songs. Stephen and Don chose Cinderella, while Warren, Eddie and Jim chose Poison.

In the last episode of season three the show starts with Eddie, Don and Jim talking about band's charging fans to see the band. The week's guest drummer Peter Criss soon comes out and talks about his battle with breast cancer, his upcoming CD and book, Ace Frehley's new album and Kiss being nominated to get in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In "Living the High Life with..", Don and Jim take Miss Box of Junk (Keri Leigh) out to dinner. In "Stump The Trunk", Eddie got two of three questions right. The pick of the week is the Deep Purple DVD History, Hits & Highlights '68–'76. In the "Whatever Happened To" segment, the guy's find out whatever happened to Dokken and their former bassist Jeff Pilson. And finally in "The Throwdown" the guy's debate on who had the better instrumental: Led Zeppelin with "Moby Dick" or Rush with "YYZ". Peter, Eddie and Jim chose Rush while Don chose Led Zeppelin, but he changed his mind and chose Rush also.

Season four of That Metal Show starts with the guys talking about how vocalist Ronnie James Dio has been diagnosed with stomach cancer. They soon bring out the first guest of season four, Megadeth vocalist and guitarist Dave Mustaine, who talk's about how the tour with Slayer and Testament had been delayed again and about his upcoming book. Next in a new segment audience members get to ask questions from Dave. In "Stump The Trunk" Eddie got no questions right this time. The pick of the week is Overkill's new album Ironbound. In another new segment Jim gives a speech about how some of the viewers are overly sensitive about what the guys say about each other. In "The Throwdown" they debate who was the better German metal band, Scorpions or Accept. Dave and Eddie chose Scorpions, while Don and Jim chose Accept.

Episode three of season four, starts with the guy's talking about Jim's band-shirt's. They soon bring out the week's guest's Mark Tornillo and Wolf Hoffmann from Accept, who talk about how Wolf's been doing as the band's new lead singer. Next we see how Don and Jim got to open for Twisted Sister's Christmas show. In "Stump The Trunk" Eddie got one of two questions right, but Accept's bassist Peter Baltes got ask a question from Wolf Hoffmann. The pick of the week is Wolf's old band, TT Quick's album Metal of Honor. In "Whatever Happened To", they find out what happened to Manowar's original guitarist Ross the Boss. Finally in "The Throwdown" the guy's debate who had the better first album with a new lead singer: Black Sabbath with Heaven and Hell or AC/DC with Back in Black. Wolf, Mark, Don and Jim chose Back in Black with Brian Johnson, while Eddie chose Heaven and Hell with Ronnie James Dio.

In "Stump The Trunk" Eddie got only one of four questions right. The pick of the week is former Iced Earth-drummer Richard Christy's new album Charred Walls of the Damned. They also bring Richard out as their second guest, talking about the album. In "The Throwdown" they discuss who was the better frontman: Steven Tyler or David Lee Roth. Richard, Rudy and Jim chose Roth, while Don and Eddie chose Tyler.
