Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit
(1991 film)

Walang Hanggan (lit. Everlasting) is a Philippine television drama aired by ABS-CBN featuring an ensemble cast.[1][2] The series is loosely based on the 1991 Gomez-Zulueta film Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit,[3] a film based on the Emily Brontë novel, Wuthering Heights.

Premise

The story of love, lust and passion begins with the intriguing love triangle between sisters, Virginia (Susan Roces) and Margaret (Helen Gamboa) and Joseph (Eddie Gutierrez), the man they both love. Virginia is self-sacrificing, caring and loving especially when it comes to her sister. She has sacrificed even the most important things in her life, her education and the man she loves. In order to survive after being abandoned by their parents, Virginia had to stop attending school so that Margaret could graduate college, she also had to sacrifice the man of her life, Joseph, her bestfriend whom she loved but struggled to show her true feelings but after introducing him to her sister, Virginia realised how much Margaret loved him and so gave him up for her. The two had their only son Marco.

Marco (Richard Gomez) grew up as a versatile, intelligent yet immature young man who only learnt to straighten himself up after meeting Emily (Dawn Zulueta), the daughter of one of their workers. But another woman is in Marco's life, her name is Jane (Rita Avila) who eventually won this battle of love. Marco and Jane had two kids who they named Johanna and Nathan. Meanwhile, Emily is sent to jail after covering for the charges of her father. After years of imprisonment she returns to avenge Marco, who she thought used her for money.

Johanna (Melissa Ricks) and Nathan (Paulo Avelino) each have their own love stories - but they're not the main protagonists. Nathan is in love with his childhood friend, Katerina (Julia Montes), the daughter of their family's rival business, who is in love with Daniel (Coco Martin), one of their helpers who has been in their lives ever since childhood. Meanwhile, Johanna is in love with Daniel, who is in love with Katerina. But what makes this love story even more intriguing and breath-taking is the fact that Tomas (Joem Bascon), Katerina's brother, is also in love with Johanna. What are they all willing to do for the sake of everlasting love?

Production

ABS-CBN continues its tradition of welcoming the year with the network's most highly-anticipated series. Walang Hanggan features yet another ensemble cast lead by Coco Martin, written by the same creative manager, Reggie Amigo of the famed military drama, Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin. The series marks the return of Richard Gomez and Susan Roces to the ABS-CBN network.[4][5][6] It is also Gomez's reunion project with his previous on-screen partner Dawn Zulueta.[7][8] The series is one of Paulo Avelino's major projects since he transferred to the network.[9][10] Melissa Ricks revealed that her character is her first antagonist role.[11] Early production began in October 2011. A production executive also revealed plans to shoot some scenes in Europe.[12] By the end of January, the cast and crew flew to Italy to shoot wine business related scenes.[13]

As said by the writers in Walang Hanggan: The Making video, the series aims to boost up tourism in the Philippines through featuring meadows and vineyards in the series. It also aims to strengthen the livelihood of the Filipino people by making bignay, a fruit used for making wines popular.
