Rape in Oslo — various procedures of police investigation

I can not find any article (or redirect from) Crime in Norway.

(- Woman, 40 years old, raped inside Hard Rock Café in Oslo — The transgression/abuse happened inside a toilet room)"- Kvinne (40) voldtatt på Hard Rock Café i Oslo — Overgrepet skjedde på et toalett." might be a relevant link.

What section of what article, deals with Crime in Norway? --85.166.141.247 (talk) 11:07, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

From my point of view, this is WP:NOT; "Wikipedia is not a newspaper". Might be sufficient by mentioned this in 2011 in Norway. Mentoz86 (talk) 12:05, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Further surfing on wikipedia, leads me to believe that the mentioned link might be relevant in the section regarding Law enforcement in Norway or in the article about Police in Norway. (But of course, relevance would have to be demonstrated in any text accompanying the reference.)--85.166.141.247 (talk) 14:21, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see how a single article about a single rape in a single city has any significance for an article about crime in the whole of Norway in general. There should however be several articles that focus on the bigger picture, whether it's the rape wave, terror readiness, criminal groups from Eastern Europe, funding or whatnot. Those should be more relevant. Ters (talk) 16:03, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Anon user

I guess we need someone to look after 85.166.141.247's and 85.166.141.237's, edits and make sure he doesn't mess up any article, since he apparently doesn't differ wikipedia and wikinews. Mentoz86 (talk) 11:29, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Methinks the IPs are used for soapboxing by the person behind the Sju hav socks. Just take a look at their postings above, asking the same old questions about notability of controversial Norway topics. I've frankly had enough of this incessant trolling and would like to see this page semi-protected. --Eisfbnore talk 11:51, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GA review of Leif Ericson - need some editors to take a look at article

I just provided a GA review for this article. Its main issue is comprehensiveness. I'd like editors familiar with the subject to take a look at the article and make a good effort at expansion with an eye to having good documentation of additional references. Air Norway

Air Norway's HQ (address in the Contact Us area) is at "Fosen Næringshage 7130 Brekstad" - Does this mean its head offices are on the property of Fosen Næringshage's at Meieriveien 57130 Brekstad, Norway? Thanks WhisperToMe (talk) 04:27, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Fosen Næringshage, 7130 Brekstad would be sufficient, but if Fosen Næringshage is located at Meieriveien 5 you can write the adress like that: Fosen Næringshage, Meieriveien 5, 7130 Brekstad. Some Norwegians business differs between "postal adress" and "visiting adress", but in this case it looks like it the same for both. Mentoz86 (talk) 06:34, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! The address I wanted was the visiting address. Since we have it, we are good to go :) WhisperToMe (talk) 15:11, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Auld alliance and Norway

Just wondering if any of you'd be interested in looking closer into weather or not the article about the Auld alliance belongs to this project... Look at the discussion section for more info this user comment: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Auld_Alliance#Documents_relating_to_the_Norwegian_involvement gives some examples of why the article might belong to this project, while other people commenting there things otherwise. The current version of the article don't mention Norway at all although the Norwegian article by the same name have plenty of information about Norways involvement. Thanks in advance for anything you guys choose to do with this Luredreier (talk) 10:30, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

With the several discussions on Norway's involvement and as you also point to, plenty more information on the corresponding Norwegian-language article that's more than needed for adding article to WikiProject Norway, so I have added our banner on the talk page. Also, as this looks like an intriguing discussion going on, perhaps more editors than myself will look into this matter? __meco (talk) 17:08, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WikiWomen's History Month

Hi everyone. March is Women's History Month and I'm hoping a few folks here at WP:Norway will have interest in putting on events (on and off wiki) related to women's roles in Norway's history, society and culture. We've created an event page on English Wikipedia (please translate!) and I hope you'll find the inspiration to participate. These events can take place off wiki, like edit-a-thons, or on wiki, such as themes and translations. Please visit the page here: WikiWomen's History Month. Thanks for your consideration and I look forward to seeing events take place! SarahStierch (talk) 21:58, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Recommendation: Watch article alerts

I recommend editors keep Wikipedia:WikiProject Norway/Article alerts on their watchlist. It is updated by a bot whenever articles tagged with our project banner or placed in project categories enter various workflows (such as Articles for Deletion, Requests for Comments, Peer Review, and many more). This short page is also transcluded onto the main project page (at the bottom), but unless you scour that page for regular updates, having the article alerts page on your watchlist is a lot more effiecient. __meco (talk) 09:54, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Norway national under-21 football team caps

As you might have noticed, I trying to improve articles about Norwegian football here. I've found this site which has an complete summary of players capped for the Norwegian national team, but I am wondering if there is a similar site to find U-21 caps. Do you have any advice? Mentoz86 (talk) 17:25, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Owen Wilkes

I've recently been working on Owen Wilkes, a New Zealand peace campaigner sentenced for espionage in Norway. I would appreciate a Norwegian-speaker having a look in likely places for Norwegian-language coverage, in particular obituaries. Owen Wilkes is currently in the DYK queue. Maybe you could try e-mailing Nils Petter Gleditsch? Or ask wikipedia in Norwegian, at least one of their useres is a librarian with a few books under his belt. --Chain of koools (talk) 15:14, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war regarding a Norwegian foundation

There is an edit war going on in the article about the Norwegian foundation Stiftelsen Kvinneuniversitetet i Norden.

Maybe someone who is not one of the "usual suspects" can weigh in on the notability of the references from Aftenposten and Bergens Tidende.

Verdens Gang also has an article, http://www.vg.no/nyheter/innenriks/norsk-politikk/artikkel.php?artid=10070226.

The discussion page of the article has been deleted, but some of the points can be found at User talk:Meco, "A Norwegian "university" — and a co-founder". --Gerrymanders (talk) 00:09, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This [1] is one of the versions with references from Aftenposten an Bergens Tidende. User:Guillaume seems to be impressed by a number of editors and sysops being of one opinion. On the other hand editor Meco has given a reason for not wanting to be involved in the discussion. --Gerrymanders (talk) 00:17, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia has a number of tools available that can assist in dealing with biased editing. I suggest you post a notice about the situation at Reliable sources noticeboard and/or NPOV noticeboard. There are also various other means you can utilize, such as calling a third opinion or request for comments. __meco (talk) 08:13, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
