Revision as of 09:19, 23 December 2013

This is a list of British record fish caught using the traditional angling method of rod and line. The criteria for inclusion on this list is that the species, weight, date and venue have been published by a recognized publisher and a link to that publication is referenced here. The list is intended to include all categories of freshwater (coarse and game fish) caught by anglers.

Notes : Some of the fish in this record list are not recognized as official British records by the BRFC, such as the Wels Catfish and Grass Carp. The latter two because they are not an indigenous species and not long naturalized. Also fish such as the Sturgeon, which are critically endangered, Burbot (thought extinct in UK). Please note that the Eel is also endangered, and must be returned to the water alive and without harm.

Ambiguous record claims

There have been many ambiguous record claims over the years. Some have been rejected by the BRFC, some have been adjudicated as being recognised. This a list of some of them: [1] [2] [3]
