Six Flags St. Louis, originally known as Six Flags Over Mid-America, is an amusement park located in Eureka, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. The park opened in 1971 as the third theme park of the Six Flags chain and was the last park built under the Six Flags name. Unlike its sister parks, Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Over Georgia, which are owned by limited partnerships and managed by Six Flags, the St. Louis park is completely owned and operated.

Six Flags St. Louis, originally known as Six Flags Over Mid-America, is an amusement park located in Eureka, Missouri, a town located within the Greater St. Louis area. The park opened in 1971 as the third theme park of the Six Flags chain and was the last park built under the Six Flags name, and remains the only park completely owned and operated by Six Flags.
The park opened with six themed sections -- Spain, France, England, the United States, Illinois, and Missouri, representing the historic "Six Flags" for this park and the St. Louis area.[1]

Engine is named Tommy G. Robertson after the head maintenance official when the park first opened. Tommy G. Robertson is a real-working 25 ton steam locomotive that burns non-polluting propane. During Fright Fest, the train is converted to Terror Train with a main villain "Pigman" who decides to hijack the train. (Though for a few years up until 2010, they had other themes.) Six Flags originally had two engines, the #5 was green and is now at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and the #6 which is red and still operating at the park today. Tommy G. Robertson had a few modifications later after the initial design such as moving the whistle to the top of the steam dome. |
