Wikipedia:VisualEditor/VisualEditor default state 2014 part 1

VisualEditor was deployed to English Wikipedia in the middle of 2013. It was later removed after two community Requests for Comment, Wikipedia:VisualEditor/RFC and Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Default State RFC. Changes have been made to VisualEditor since the VisualEditor was removed. The English Wikipedia page Wikipedia:VisualEditor says that "The Wikimedia Foundation developers expect to make it available to almost all Wikimedia Foundation projects by the end of 2014" although the latest I have heard is that the Foundation is not rushing to push this project onto English Wikipedia against community consensus and "there is no 'official plan' at all with regard to the English Wikipedia".

This request for comment asks the community what additional changes or fixes we want WMF to make before we would consider re-enabling VisualEditor under a set of conditions that we could specify through a later RfC such as Wikipedia:VisualEditor/2014 RFC or User:Pine/drafts/VisualEditor default state 2014 part 2.

I am not personally voting in this request for comment but I may make comments, probably responding to any points about the format of the RfC, the close of the RfC, or future action to be taken after the close. --Pine^✉ 07:35, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:Article wizard

Hello everyone,

Unlike many RFCs, this RFC does not have a particular conflict. Instead, through this RFC, I would like users to answer the following questions:

Do you like this article wizard? Please give any suggestions/feedback/comments you may have on this article wizard.

Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Articles for creation

There is a proposal on the table that as part of moving to the Draft namespace, all AFC submission banners and AFC comment banners on any AFC submission in Draft namespace should go on the paired talk page.

Support

I would support the general idea of having a slimmed down banner above the submission and moving all comments and decline reasoning on the talk page. In order for this to work, it would be necessary for the banner to clearly link to the talk page. However the proposal by T13 would not be the right approach and would be disruptive. The transition needs to be more gradual and considered, to minimise confusion to contributors and reviewers. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:30, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:Notability (geographic features)

This is a request to re-promote this page to guideline status. The page was originally promoted in 2012 after a 3 month RfC, but was then unpromoted a month later due to concerns that not enough people participated in the original RfC. The wording of the page has been stable for years and it is frequently cited in deletion discussions even though it is not technically a guideline. There is nothing controversial here. This page consists only of well-established rules of thumb that are already in practice. By promoting them to be official guidelines, we can make the AfD process a bit more efficient and help new administrators learn the ropes more easily. Kaldari (talk) 03:10, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
