Fawad Afzal Khan completed his [[A-Levels]] from Johar town branch of [[Lahore Grammar School]] System. According to the news collected about him, he was also the head boy during A-Levels in [[Lahore Grammar School]].[3] He found his interest in computer graphics and so took up [[Bachelor's in Computer Science]] from [[National University of Computers and Emerging Sciences]] abbreviated as NUCES or FAST in Lahore. Fawad Khan (born November 29, 1981) is a Pakistani singer, model and actor. He has established a successful career in Pakistani TV cinema. In 2014, Khan made his Bollywood debut, with the release of Khoobsurat with Sonam Kapoor.

Personal life

Khan was born on November 29, 1981 in Karachi, Pakistan to a Punjabi family.[1][2][3] Due to the nature of his father's job, Khan's childhood was spent travelling from place to place. He lived in Athens, Dubai, Riyadh and Manchester during his youth.[1][2] When his father retired, Khan returned to Pakistan when he was 13 years old, and since then he has been living in Lahore.[1][2] Khan did his A-levels from LGS Lahore and went on to complete his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST-NU) in Lahore.[2][4] At the young age of 13, Khan began his modeling career.[5] Khan made his acting debut onstage in a high school play, Manaal, which was directed by a friend of his, Manal Butt.[2][5][6] The play caught the attention of director Shahzad Anjum, who helped Khan enter into the media world.[2][6]

Khan married Sadaf Khan, whom he met at the age of seventeen and eventually went on to marry her on 12 November 2005 after eight years of courtship.[7][7][8][9] They have a son Ayaan Khan.[7][9] Khan and his family currently reside in Lahore, Pakistan.[9] Khan, in a collaboration with his wife, established a clothing brand called SILK by Fawad Khan.[10] The debut collection that is Eastern and Western casual styles designed, was launched through a three-day exhibition in Lahore.[10][11][12]

Career

TV debut and early years (2000–2010)

In 2000, at the age of 19, Khan made his television debut on the sitcom Jutt and Bond, in which he performed a bumbling spy role with the sitcom.[3] After his debut, he focused on his music career with his band Entity Paradigm, when he was casted for a role of Sarmad in Shoaib Mansoor's Khuda Kay Liye.[2] The film opened to good responses and was the highest-grossing Pakistani film in 2007.[13][14] In 2008, he stepped into full-time drama serials, appearing in Anjum Shehzad's travel and adventure drama series Satrangi and in the drama Dil Deke Jayen Ge.[2][2][8][15][15][16] In addition to starring in the drama, he also wrote and sang the original soundtrack of the drama.[2]

In 2009, he appeared in Haissam Hussain's drama serial, Jeevan Ki Rahon Mein, which revolved around the lives of three close friends.[15][17] Khan essayed the role of Adil, a rich spoilt playboy who has a careless attitude.[15][17] Subsequently, he went on to appear in two telefilms, Kal (2009) which aired on Geo TV and Aaj Kuch Na Kaho (2010) which aired on Hum TV.[8] Made for Pakistan's Independence Day, Kal was about five college students selected to write on the topic of “Mera Pakistan" with Khan playing the role of Zaheer.[8][9][18][19] Later in 2010, Khan performed the leading role opposite actress Sanam Baloch in Hum TV's historical drama Dastaan.[2]

Widespread success (2011–2013)

In 2011, Khan became a household name after playing Ashar Hussain, a wealthy man who marries his middle-class cousin, in the critical and commercial hit drama Humsafar.[5] Humsafar received Pakistan’s highest rating ever at 9.75 and went on to win the Best TV Play (Satellite) award at the 12th Lux Style Awards.[5][20] Khan was greatly praised for his performance and he won the Best TV Actor (Satellite) award for his portrayal of Ashar Hussain at the 12th Lux Style Awards.[5][5][6][21][22][23][24] After Humsafar, Fawad Khan next appeared on the drama Ashk as Rohail Hayat. Ashk.[25]

Khan's next big role came in 2013 when he portrayed Zaroon Junaid in the popular drama Zindagi Gulzar Hai. The drama was a huge hit and it won the award for the Best Drama of 2013 at the 2nd Pakistan Media Awards and the 2nd Hum Awards.[26][27] For his role, Khan won the Best Actor (Popular) award at the 2nd Hum Awards and the Best Drama Actor at the 2nd Pakistan Media Awards.[26][27][28][29] He was also nominated for Best Television Actor (Satellite) at the 13th Lux Style Awards.[30] His chemistry with Sanam Saeed was also appreciated and the couple won the Best Onscreen Couple award and the Best Onscreen Couple (Popular) award at the 2nd Hum Awards.[26][27][29] The series also aired in India on the channel Zindagi from June 13, 2014 to July 18, 2014.[31][32][33][32][33] In 2013, Khan was also seen in a TV movie, Behadd as Jamal Ahmed, and in the drama, Numm as Wali Bakht Khan. Later that year, he starred as the title role in the Pakistani telefilm Armaan, a remake of the 1966 film of the same name.[8][34] Khan was chosen for the role due to his similarity to Waheed Murad, the actor who played Armaan in the original 1966 film, in terms of looks and style.[34] Khan and Aamina Sheikh, his co-star in the film, won the Tarang Housefull Award for Best On Screen Couple.[35]

Bollywood (2014-present)

In 2014, Khan made his debut in Bollywood in Shashanka Ghosh's Khoobsurat opposite Sonam Kapoor.[35][36] A remake of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s 1980 hit of the same name starring Rekha and Rakesh Roshan, the film revolves around Sonam Kapoor's character, Dr. Mili Chakravarty, who is a middle class physiotherapist from Delhi.[37] Khan plays Yuvraj Vikram Singh Rathore, Mili's love interest and the son of her patient.[37] While the reviews of the film varied from positive to mediocre, Khan's performance was praised by critics and seen as one of the highlights of the film.[38] Fellow actor, Ayushmann Khurrana concluded that he (Khan) is the new eye candy who can really act.[39] He'll once again collaborate with Khoobsurat co-star Sonam Kapoor in Battle For Bittora which will be produced by Rhea Kapoor and will start filming in late 2014. He has also committed to star in Akshat Verma's next who earlier directed Delhi Belly

Music

Initially two separate rock bands, Ahmed Ali Butt's Entity and Khan's Paradigm were both active in the Lahore music scene since 1994 and 2000, respectively.[40][41] During the early 2000s, the two bands collaborated with each other on the title track for Khan's and Butt's popular television sitcom, Jutt and Bond, when the show's director suggested that they do the title song together.[40][41] Led by Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan, the lead guitarist of Paradigm, the two bands collaborated and recorded the title song, Hamein Aazma, which played at the end of the show.[40][42] In early 2002, advertisements for Pepsi's Battle of the Bands began to air on television, calling upon entries from aspiring Pakistani bands. Since independent compilations and releases on record were lacking on both sides of the band, they decided to send in "Hamein Aazma" as a collaborative effort, under the name of Entity Paradigm.[40] It was during this time that Entity Paradigm (EP) officially came into existence, with Fawad Khan as the band's lead vocals.[40][43]

Entity Paradigm's debut album, Irtiqa, released in October 2003 and received wide critical appreciation, especially the popular romantic track Rahguzar.[5][40] On January 9, 2007, the band disbanded due to various band members pursuing different projects.[40] The band briefly reunited in 2010 to perform Bolo Bolo in the third season of the popular TV music show Coke Studio.[2] In the same year, the band also released their patriotic single Shor Macha, written by Khan, Ahmed and Salman, and recorded at The Albert Studios.[2][44]
