Afrin district (Arabic: عفرين / ALA-LC: ‘Afrīn; Kurdish: Efrîn) is a Syrian district (mantiqah) administratively belonging to Aleppo Governorate.
At the 2004 census, it had a population of 172,095.
Its administrative centre is the city of Afrin.
Sub-districts
The district of Afrin is divided into seven sub-districts or Nāḥiyas (population according to 2004 official census):
- Afrin nahiyah (ناحية عفرين): population 66,188.[1]
- Bulbul nahiyah (ناحية بلبل): population 12,573.[2]
- Jindires nahiyah (ناحية جنديرس): population 32,947.[3]
- Rajo nahiyah (ناحية راجو): population 21,955.[4]
- Sharran nahiyah (ناحية شرّان): population 13,632.[5]
- Shaykh al-Hadid nahiyah (ناحية شيخ الحديد): population 13,871.[6]
- Maabatli nahiyah (ناحية معبطلي): population 11,741.[7]
