Frederika Alexis Cull (born 20 November 1999) is an Indonesian National Rugby union athlete, actress, TV commercial model and a Beauty pageant titleholder who won the title of Puteri Indonesia 2019.[1][2] She will represent Indonesia at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant.[3][4][5][6]

Early life and education

Frederika was born in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia to a British-born Australian father, Roy Cull, from Brisbane, and a Indonesian mother, Yulia Peers, from Lampung.[7][8] After graduating from elementary school, she moved to Jakarta where she worked as a model since the age of 9,[9][10] She's also began her career as an actress by starring on Reality-Drama film "Buku Harian Dara (2013)".[11][12] She's a university student in Lancaster University where she is majoring in International Business Management.[13][14] She is also active as a national representative for International Rugby union competitions Under-20 and currently have got 5 medals, 3 of them are gold.[15][16][17]

Frederika was an aspirator for the "Rescue Bintaro Dog Lovers" an organization that save and protect abandoned animals, where she built a shelter for animal rescue, and campaigns to stop the sale of dog meat for human consumption.[18][19] Since 2010 together with British School Jakarta, Frederika build her own NGO called "Sekolah Bisa & Cyber Shanty"[20] which is actually start from her own school assignment social project idea, as Frederika passionate in teaching underprivileged children everyday after she finished her school schedule. Since then, "Sekolah Bisa & Cyber Shanty" was build to provides free routine medical checkup, vaccination, oral care and mainly education in various subjects and technologies to prepare underprivileged childrens entering public schools,[21] These children doesn't have birth certificates that make them not have an official identity as a citizens of Indonesia. To overcome this, she collaborated with the local government to arrange their birth certificates and Indonesian identity card, so by that they could afford government incentives such as health care and get free education in public schools.[22][23][24] After winning the crown, Frederika was even offered to be a young minister in the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia by the current President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo when they met at Bogor Presidential Palace.[25][26][27]

Pageantry

Puteri Indonesia 2019

Frederika was crowned as Puteri Indonesia 2019 at the grand finale held in Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta, Indonesia on 8 March 2019 (International Women's Day) by the outgoing titleholder of Puteri Indonesia 2018 and Top-20 Miss Universe 2018, Sonia Fergina Citra of Bangka Belitung.[28][29][30][31] Frederika represented the Jakarta province at the pageant, where she also won "Best in Talent" award.[32][33] The finale coronation night of Puteri Indonesia 2019 also attended by the reigning Miss Universe 2018 – Catriona Elisa Magnayon Gray of the Philippines as a main Guest-star.[34][35][36]

At her national competition, during her finale night speech for Puteri Indonesia 2019,[37][38][39] Frederika successfully raised the awareness of a sensitive topic, which is hate speech;

Cull:"...Hate speech is not freedom of speech, Hate speech is the expression of violence and abuse. It is used to take people's human rights away, their self worth and self respect in society. The emergence of social media has created multiple platforms for the publication of hate speech. In order to minimize this we must raise the importance of media ethics and educate people on the social, cultural and political rights that individuals and social groups have. And to all the women who have been victims of hate speech, I know how much it hurts and I know how much it destroys you, but as women we have something that is so much stronger than this. Our ability to withstand our pain and tears is much stronger than any kind of hate speech that is directed towards us...

At her Top-3 final question,[40] Frederika received special question from the National Committee Ministry of Economy & Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Putri Kuswisnuwardhani asked the following: "Soon in this year we will face a party of democracy, as millennial's what does this mean for you? and how do you react?"

Cull: "...As a citizen who knows their rights and is invested in our country, I believe that we should vote. And on the 17th of April, I shall choose my president for my country. As millenials we are forced to vote, because not only this is affect us for the next 5 years, but voting is our POWER and it is what we need to do,

Miss Universe 2019

After being crowned as Puteri Indonesia 2019, Frederika will represent Indonesia at the 68th edition of Miss Universe 2019 pageant which will be held on late 2019, where Miss Universe 2018 – Catriona Elisa Magnayon Gray of the Philippines will crown her successor at the end of the pageant.[41][42]

Frederika currently start her acting career as an actress at the age of 10, where she appear on several TV Film's and Movies. She began her carrer as an actress by starring on the movie Buku Harian Dara (2013) a movie.[43][44]
