Vani Bhojan is an Indian actress and former model who predominantly appears and works in Tamil cinema and television. She is best known for her role as Sathya in the Indian Tamil soap opera Deivamagal for which she was awarded the Sun Kudumbam Viruthugal for Best Actress in 2018.[2] She made her Cinematic acting debut in the 2019 Telugu film Meeku Maathrame Cheptha[3] with Tharun Bhaskar.[4] She made her debut in Tamil cinema with Oh My Kadavule (2020) with Ashok Selvan.[5]. Both were successful.[6]

In the same year she appeared in the crime thriller Lock Up movie with Vaibhav Reddy and Venkat Prabhu. This movie released on OTT platform.[7]

Early life

Vani Bhojan was born in Ooty, Nilgiri District, Tamilnadu. She did her schooling in boarding school, Ooty and completed her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature in Government Arts College, Ooty.[8]

Career

Television debut (2010–2012)

Bhojan once started her career as an air hostess in Kingfisher Airlines and then chose to become a model and then eventually became an actor.[8] She said "I don’t hold a degree till now."[8] She joined an airlines as staff and started doing BA English Literature in correspondence. After three years when she was about to join as a manager with another airlines she was not allowed to join because she did not finish her degree.[8] She remember the days when there was just 320 rupees in Bhojan bank account.[8] When she was jobless, she got the offer to do a commercial Advertisement for Chennai silks and that is how she modelling career started.[9] Then she went on doing serials in Star Vijay, Jaya TV and Sun TV Deivamagal Serial was the first serial to gain to popularity.[8]

In 2012 she was in cast in Jaya TV series Maya. She played a title role Maya along with Easwari Rao and Abhishek Shankar.[10] She subsequently got a leading role in the TV series Aaha serial. She played a Shruthi in this serial[11] alone with Easwari Rao, Bhanupriya, Seema and Delhi Ganesh which was telecasted in Vijay TV.[12] After Aaha was completed, but this two serial failure in the TRP.

Breakthrough, success and stardom in television (2013–2018)

Later She was cast in the Sun TV series Deivamagal in a leading role.[13] She played a Sathya Priya alone with Krishna.[14] This serial was very successful in the TRP for which she was awarded the Sun Kudumbam Viruthugal for Best Actress in 2018[2] and Ghalatta Nakshatra Award for Best actress 2018.[15] This serial was a very successful for Vani Bhojan to act in Kollywood and Tollywood. She was also seen in Lakshmi Vanthachu on Zee Tamil.[8] She played 3 Character in this serial Nandhini, Lakshmi & Jhanaki along with Saran Rajesh, Mohana, Haripriya, and Sulakshana.[16] It was directed by Suresh Krissna and V.Sathasivam.[17] Suresh Krissna is the biggest director in Tamil Cinema. This is the first serial of him. After the serial she became a Judge in Asathal Chutties in Sun TV[18] and Kings of Comedy Juniors 2 in Star Vijay along with Robo Shankar and Erode Mahesh.[19]

Tamil and Telugu film debut and break from television (2019–present)

She first appeared in 2010, Tamil movie Orr Eravuu.[20] Later she appeared in Tamil movie Adigaram 79[21] and Telugu movie Prema[22] but that film commercial failure at the box office. This three film are she appeared in supporting role. But her Official Cinematic debut as Lead female role was in the Telugu film Meeku Maathrame Cheptha in 2019 along with Tharun Bhascker. The film marks the debut of Shammeer Sultan as director and Vijay Deverakonda as producer.[23] which was a commercial failure at the box office. In May 2018, Bhojan announced her debut in N4 and said it will be directed by Lokesh Kumar.[24] However in the middle of 2019 citing date issues, Bhojan stepped out of the film.[25]

In 2020, Bhojan made her feature film acting debut through this project she played one of the female lead Oh My Kadavule[26][27] with Ashok Selvan.[28][6] which was a commercial big success at the box office in 2020.[29] In which she was got Ghalatta Nakshatra Award for TV Actor who made it to the Silverscreen 2019 Won.[30] In the same year, she played a main female lead in the Crime thriller film Lock Up with Vaibhav Reddy.[31][32][33] However, the delay of the film and the subsequent COVID-19 pandemic meant that the film had an O-T-T release on Zee5[34] and released on 14 August 2020.[35] Meanwhile, the official announcement of Vani Bhojan’s next movie She will be teaming up with actor Aadhav Kannadasan for their next, which is titled Thazh Thiravaa.[36], Bhojan acting with Vikram Prabhu movie.[37][38] and also acting with Atharvaa movie.[39][40] Director AR Murugadoss producing a web series starring Vani Bhojan in the lead. The series is directed by one of Murugadoss' erstwhile assistant director.[41] Meanwhile, Vani also working another one Web series with Jai. This Web series to produces Karthik Subbaraj.[42]
