Stuff moved from your userpage

Hi,

You have deleted our shool webpage and I am very unhappy about this. I would like to know why you felt this necessary considering we have the rights to all content from www.bisc.krakow.pl as it is our web page. And secondly could you please restore this ASAP.

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AndreasHuntley (talkcontribs)

Request for undeletion of Context Sensitive Solutions

Hello,

I would like to request undeletion of the article on Context Sensitive Solutions. Here is the reasoning behind my request, which I also posted to the discussion page for the article:

"This article was deleted for a supposed copyright violation. However, the material in question is in the public domain. The lists that appear under the sections "Qualities of a CSS Project" and "CSS Principles" are generally agreed upon by transportation planners as defining the practice of Context Sensitive Solutions. They were originally produced at a conference sponsored by the state of Maryland Department of Transportation in 1998 and have since been reproduced online in several forums, including The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, Carter and Burgess (a private firm), and dozens more that can be produced with a Google search of "Qualities of Excellence in Transportation Design."

"In light of the consensus that has emerged around these principles (Federal legislation has referred to them as design criteria for the federal highway system, see SAFETEA-LU, Section 109.c.2.C), I believe it is justified and necessary to include them in this article. I have altered the citation format to make it clearer that the lists are not my words, and I re-directed the reference to point to the original document on the Maryland State Highway Administration website.

"Also, there is other material in this article besides those lists, which I believe should preclude full deletion."

Thanks for considering this request.

--Hobisfried 16:25, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your courteous reply. I appreciate your rigorous standards and welcome your suggestions. I realize that I have not met the burden of proof, and I would like your help understanding what conditions must be met to either prove that I have permission to use this material or prove that it is in the public domain. Since the source document is a PDF on the Maryland State Highway Administration website, would confirmation from a representative of that public agency be sufficient? I've already reviewed many pages pertaining to copyright protocol on Wikipedia, but I hope you'll be able to give an authoritative answer that will allow me to pursue a course of action free from doubt.

I understand that the most reasonable thing to do would be to find another way to convey the same ideas. However, the reason I'm resisting re-wording the disputed text is because my colleagues in the transportation planning field firmly believe this particular phrasing is intrinsic to the meaning of the term. Perhaps that stance is contrary to the very nature of Wikiedia, but I am trying to explore all available options to preserve the disputed wording before going another route.

I'm also curious as to why the entire article was deleted when the disputed text was only a portion of the whole. Is it possible to restore the remainder of the article?

Thanks again for your assistance.

--Hobisfried 04:53, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

it is insulting that an article for a notable do it yourself band {I.E a none signed band that has been on three tours thus far including a european one,} such as the pijin can not be added to wikipedia. Yet I see many inifinitely more pointless articles littering the server that don't deserve to be here. The moderation of this site is bigoted and hypocritical in nature. I propose you allow this article to be recreated and I shall spend a little more time adding images and information so you can see that this act are actually notable and unlike your pre conconceptions not a piece of petty trivia.. Toxic Pijin have been around for three years they have a wide cult fanbase in both europe and England. They have produced four albums in this time period I am very insulted by the fact I create a user name, log in, start to create and article and it is deleted twice and before I can add my coding to it you decide to protect it so I cannot recreate it again and add my further editing. Also I find it very hypocritical to send me a message claiming I am not contributing when in all fairness I have tried to contribute but you have deleted it twice!

I apologise for swearing at you I was merely making a point not everyone has the time you do on your hands and I would appreciate it if you would consider that

thanks

Ok I shall get back to you when it is ready thank you— Preceding unsigned comment added by Swallowthemind (talkcontribs)

re: toxic pijin I notice that I can claim the completed article as notable under point 3 . Criteria for musicians and ensembles - Has gone on an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one large or medium-sized country,[1] reported in notable and verifiable sources. "There are, at present, no precise definitions of a "small", "medium" or "large" country in this context. However, a very limited definition of "small" will generally be used, excluding only a few of the world's smallest countries."

I therefore propose I produce links to reviews of their european tour last year and a scan of their media coverage. I have several reviews of their recent england "Oberon gisepe wemblequest" tour. I would also like to add that no other band in the world throws bread, brocoli, dog food at their audience and no other band has the balls to throw tabasco sauce in their eyes and express their pain through feedback and anger.. I am also sure no other band has songs about the number 27, tea breaks, ikea and preaching teachers who tell you to "get in the cupboard with jesus and think about what you've done". I admit I have a hard task ahead to convice you but they are worthy of inclusion due to the fact by their very nature the toxic pijin go out of their way to offend everyone. Excuse my spelling errors this keyboard is in poor condition. I shall get in touch— Preceding unsigned comment added by Swallowthemind (talkcontribs)

You deleted Publimedia International as {{csd-g11}}, which it was. However, I think the company is a notable Romanian publishing company, and it would be helpful if you could restore the article and turn it into something NPOV, if necessary by turning it into a stub. I wasn't the original author, but I was trying to expand another article written by the same author and saw your note on the user's talk page about the deletion of Publimedia International. --TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 14:00, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Subiaco Marist Cricket Club

Jeffrey,

Thank you for the feedback (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subiaco_Marist_Cricket_Club, Nov 15). It is fair that the reader shouldn't have to take the author's word for it when the words "renowned" and "notable" are used. As such, these assertions have now been backed up by references to the 24 state championships claimed by the club and the 11 SMCC players who have represented their countries at the highest level. In terms of achievement and contribution to the sport of cricket, these criteria are more reliable than the number of Google entries.

Coffee Lounge MfD

Why was the Coffee Lounge deleted after only one day of votes? There's supposed to be about five days worth. Alethiophile123 18:52, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Several issues

Are you coming for the meetup on 24 November? Please do reconfirm your attendance at the meetup, as you told me that you are not going months ago. Regarding the AFD on Woodlands Civic Centre, please do consider merging the article into Woodlands, Singapore as this place is quite a huge building in a regional centre. Houses Woodlands Regional Library and other government facilities as well as shops. So do reconsider changing to merge it to salvage the article. --Terence Ong (C | R) 03:59, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sending a note to all users who participated in an earlier AfD does not seem to fall afoul of WP:SPAM. I have therefore restored the messages. JoshuaZ 06:56, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you JoshuaZ. My intention was definitely not to spam anyone, but W.marsh's initial concern was that those who had voted Keep in the first round didn't know about the second, and the agreement we had apparently reached involved notifying them (thus my comment to Awyong and the two others). When the nomination went up a third time on procedural grounds, I thought it was only fair to re-notify the Delete votes as well. Believe me, I understand very well that it's bad form to go out soliciting for votes, and totally unacceptable to do it on random User_talk pages, but that wasn't what I was doing in this case (nor would I ever). --Arvedui 09:09, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I meant to say thank you to you, AJMS, for taking the time in setting up and listing the third nomination after my mistaken re-opening of the second one (a miscommunication between myself and W.marsh). Thanks! --Arvedui

Hi Awyong Jeffrey Mordecai Salleh....uh... why did you delete this page? --(this unsigned comment was made by 68.121.111.129 on 09:23, 20 November 2006 )

Hiya, I have just noticed that you speedily deleted Vangelis (Buffyverse) & User:Mets501 speedily deleted In the Heavyskies (WP:AfD/Vangelis & WP:AfD/In the Heavyskies). I can see that at present they are not very notable since they are unlikely to see the light of day until at least 2007, and even then it will remain to be seen if they are covered by some notable sources. Would it be possible for the article to be put onto my user space:

User:Paxomen/In the Heavyskies, User:Paxomen/Vangelis (Buffyverse)

I put a lot of work into the articles, researching them on the web and writing them, and would be interested in using my work, on a Buffy wiki (e.g. http://buffy.wikia.com/wiki/Buffyverse_Wiki).

I would have saved the content myself for use elsewhere, but I was never informed about the deletions. Please could you help out.

Thanks -- Paxomen 17:25, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Album covers tagged by sockpuppet vandal

Please be more careful when deleting images tagged with {{no source}}. A number of album cover images were tagged "no source" by a sockpuppet vandal User:Aujin66, but for the most part the source of an album cover is obviously the album from which it came. See the discussion here. If you could restore these images it would be much appreciated. The following is a list of just some of the images... the majority of images deleted on 19 November were probably similar, and between 200 and 250 were tagged by the sockpuppet on 11 November.

thanks for your speedy reply, what i gathered from your reply is that the article was deleted because it does not show how the group is notable. well this page is about a think tank opertaing from paksitan and having President of paksitan as its Patron in Chief. and the institute is headed by world famous femenist theologian Dr.Riffat Hassan. I am yet in a process of adding the things and you have deleted it. i think first there should be some history of Institute and the purpose why this institute has been eastablished and after that we can add who is running it. Please advise me

I posted User:Xyz_or_die on the vandalism page and you deleted him stating that his last edit wasn't vandalism. So please advise me on what action to take. His last six edits have been identical edits to an article to stick an unfounded opinion in. The first time, it's an honest mistake, but he's done it at least 10 or 12 times now after repeated warnings on his talk page which he doesn't respond to and ignores every attempt to explain what 'opinion' and what 'documented fact' is. There is no evidence he will stop making the same edit over and over again. If he can't be banned for vandalizing, what action can be taken? Thank you TheHYPO 13:29, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE: I do perceve it at vandalism. I do not, in good faith perceve it as vandalism in the first instance. I do perceve it as vandalism if they ignore repeated explainations on THEIR talk page (not the article's) that the content is not appropriate and simply make the same edit 6 times in a row (and several times before that). It's not a content dispute because there is no dispute - the person has made no communications, and if they did there would be no argument. An opinion "this song is similar to that song" has no basis on wikipedia - particularly without any citation. Nor is the fact that the same writer (who has written dozens and dozens of hit songs) happened to write these two, even arguably worth mentioning. The vandalism isn't the comment in itself. It's ignoring any discussion and repeatedly forcing it upon the articles. If I went into The Simpsons and kept writing "This is a really really great show, and the same guys created Futurama." in the lead, and ignored any request to stop adding that, I'd expect to get banned. A message from SupaStarGirl

I am sorry about my "vandalism" of the Afd page (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/United States). However, I never intended to become a vandal, and just wanted to play a joke once.

I never intended to hurt anybody:

  • It was an obvious joke, and I only did it once.
  • The joke was done with intention that the entry was not serious, and that the article would not be deleted. Only true vandals would really want to delete the article on the United States.
  • The sentence "Non-notable place. Too few people." was not meant to be serious either. In fact, I'm from the USA!
  • AfD is part of Wikipedia, but not part of the Wikipedia encyclopedia. It won't give people any misinformation.
  • The most important reason: On Special:Contributions/SupaStarGirl, the joke is surrounded by real AfD votes and vandal reversions. I would never convert to vandalism.

I am truly sorry. Thank you. SupaStarGirl 14:29, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Theoretically, we can use a whole pile of fair use pics of Ian Thorpe to describe historical races right? As they are "replaceable" as we can't go back in time? A few people are insisting on multiple pictures for the FAC.....Blnguyen (bananabucket) 01:17, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for clearing the page up a little bit, but it's a waste of time. This article has been deleted several times after a unanimous AFD[2], and is just being recreated by the User:Fluence, who is destructively precious about his low quality contributions. I've asked another sysop to help out with this, but he doesn't seem to be active right now. As you've turned your attention to the page, perhaps you could deal with the matter and with Fluence? He's been blocked for this sort of behaviour before, and certainly isn't hiding his intentions with comments like "suffer now Mekon, Mr. Scare, Richyard. Added back article. Reverted vandalism" (calling official deletions of his content "vandalism" is part of his overall pattern, and something that should be addressed, I feel) and "I told you stubborn: A Bad Dream. The Bayesian Poisoning article is my own work!

Re: Bayesian Poisoning.

I wrote the article the you are referring to both the Wikipedia version and the original. I am the copyright holder of the original text and can decide what I do with it. I cannot change the version on the Virus Bulletin site to release if under the FDL because they are licensing that writing from me for their site, but I can put it on Wikipedia if I want to since it's my writing in the first place.

John.

Your edits to "A Bad Dream".

I'm not arguing about what I've said to The Mekon since all he has said to me in the past. I mean, let's not get involved in that. However, I MUST TELL YOU.
