:Hi again! A few weeks ago, I was approved by {{u|Rosguill}} for a one-month trial of new page reviewer permissions, and I've now completed over 40 reviews. Although I've primarily focused my patrol toward video game-related articles, I think it has been beneficial to specialize into a field I'm already familiar with while leaving the door open for other subjects in the future such as computing and astronomy, as I've taken care to improve and expand a lot of the articles I'm reviewing. I've really enjoyed this, and even if I only stick to reviewing video game articles in the near future, I still believe that specialized work is valuable to the community. I'm therefore hoping to reapply for permissions, but this time to become a new page patroller indefinitely. I recognize that there can be some delay while one's request is reviewed, so I decided to post here a week or so early to make sure there's no lapse in permissions were I to be approved. Revision as of 14:19, 14 March 2021

New page reviewer

I would like to help get that pending submissions backlog down a bit. I'm familiar with the core principles of notability, neutrality, BLP requirements, etc., and also frequently nominate for and participate in AfD so have a reasonable idea of what would or wouldn't survive there. I often come across new articles in the uncategorised and dead end feeds, and deal with them as and when I find them, but obviously that's just a small subset of new articles and doesn't address AfC submissions. In short, I would like, and also feel I'm ready, to contribute more widely and more formally. Cheers, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:27, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
DoubleGrazing, your track record looks good enough for me to be comfortable conferring permissions, but your request here makes it seem like you may be looking for AfC pseudo-permissions. signed, Rosguill talk 20:55, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Rosguill: Thanks for your comment. I wasn't knowingly asking for pseudo-anything. But the fact that I may have inadvertently done so, or at least appeared to have, kind of suggests that I perhaps didn't know what I was asking for as well as I thought I did. Which, in itself, seems to me like a good enough reason to decline my request. :) If you do grant me the permissions, I will learn them thoroughly and use them judiciously, but I understand why you might not want to. Thanks either way, --DoubleGrazing (talk) 22:25, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
DoubleGrazing, I'm reasonably confident that you'll be able to help out, whether at AfC or NPR, so my goal here isn't to make you jump through bureaucratic hoops, but I wanted to make sure that you're signing up for the work you want to be doing. Read through the descriptions of NPR and AfC and let me know. signed, Rosguill talk 22:31, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Rosguill: Yep, will do. Thanks, --DoubleGrazing (talk) 22:37, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Rosguill: sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. I've now got my head out of the haze, and it's the NPR right I would like to request (I don't even know why or how I got the AfC confused with that). So NPR, definitely. And next time I promise to think first and write then, it tends to work better that way for everyone involved. :) Cheers, --DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:24, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'd love to help reduce the NPP backlog. I dabble in all sorts of NPR-adjacent fields, including speedy-deletion (log available here), PROD (log available here), AfD, and AfC. Much of my work involves articles of questionable notability, and so I'm pretty familiar with the GNG and the various subject-specific guidelines. I've also done a few bits of content work, growing my understanding of sourcing and verifiability. Cheers, Extraordinary Writ (talk) 01:07, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Track record looks good,  Done for 1 month as a trial run at which point you can reapply. signed, Rosguill talk 23:47, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As there are lots of content related to Ethiopia that are not on Wikipedia yet, giving me access would help facilitate of accepting appropriate content created here. Daniel Aregay (talk) 18:41, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your interest in this permission and for your contributions writ large. However, I'm concerned that your article contributions thus far don't demonstrate a proper understanding of our naming conventions, notability guidelines and BLP policy, most egregiously at Takele Uma Banti, a BLP which lacked any references whatsoever for an extended period of time. Thus, I'm afraid that I can't confer privileges at this time, but would encourage you to reapply in the future.  Not done for now. signed, Rosguill talk 21:16, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I was recently granted temporary rights by Barkeep49 that are set to expire in two days. I managed to make a few dozen patrols in the two months I've had the right, and I've enjoyed the work, so I would like to request extension of the right. Thanks and best, Blablubbs|talk 19:56, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
