"Cobalt" / "kobold" mispronunciation relavant?
The article mentions AB's mispronunciation of cobalt as kobold, but the relevance of this incident remains obscure. I suggest to remove that sentence. Stardust canopy (talk) 11:10, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
- I agree, especially considering that no English-speaking sites covered the "news." If it had any sort of relevancy, at least some website would have mentioned it, but (at least from what I could google) no articles in English seem to have covered the matter. Removed it. Stardust canopy (talk) 13:22, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
- I have no idea what this was about, but I've been reading about "Kobolds" in German news everywhere and started to wonder. If this dies down again, I guess it's fine to keep it out - it's not particular encyclopedic, but at least in one person (me) it lead to confusion and an entry at Wikipedia would have been helpful 2A02:AA16:5680:B280:CE64:C95A:1662:967B (talk) 14:59, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
"Evangelical church" misleading
In the USA, evangelical Christians are an important force in politics, and at first glance I was shocked to read that Annalena Baerbock identifies as evangelical. In fact, she probably belongs to the Lutheran Church like many people in Northern Germany. They are very moderate and many members have become secularized. If she is indeed a member of the Lutheran Church within the union "Evangelische Kirche in Deutschland", then it would be better to use this term and avoid "evangelical" in English. In German she is "evangelisch" and not "evangelikal", but this distinction does not exist in English, I think. For example, there is no risk that she might believe the Earth to be roughly ten thousand years old, though the current wording may suggest just that. Aecur (talk) 05:21, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Aecur: I understand your concern. However, the church itself calls itself "Evangelical Church in Germany" (see their English language website for reference), so per WP:COMMONNAME, I think it will have to stand as it is. Also, the wikilink provides context. Zwerg Nase (talk) 08:32, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
- See Protestantism#Evangelical for the terms. I have slightly rewritten the sentence and hope it is clearer now. —Kusma (t·c) 08:58, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

- She frequently goes to church. I think it is wrong translation from ZEIT. She wanted to say, she stays in the church organisation. But this does not mean she goes frequently to the church service, also because she says, she is not believing. Regards--Buchbibliothek (talk) 16:34, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

dissertation
According to German doctoral law, you cannot abandon a doctoral thesis. Once one has been admitted to the doctorate and withdraw it, you are considered to have failed.

- There is no "German doctoral law", the rules are different even between different faculties at the same university. At all universities that I am aware of, if you don't submit a thesis, your Promotionsverfahren doesn't get started and so you can't fail it. —Kusma (t·c) 15:02, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
