Hi! Very glad to cross paths after so long with the legendary User:Encyclopædius ;) Normally I do not give any further input to this project, but for the sake of being mentioned by this "retired" user, I can say that during the 2004 Olympic Games in Greece, there was a burst of little "museums" and "collections" in every possible place where the tourists may have reached. Then most of them simply disappeared. I would safely say that many items of the list Encyclopædius had used are now obsolete. As for the title, it's Σισίνη (Sissini) Str. and it still exists. Regards to both. Hoverfish Talk 17:57, 8 January 2022 (UTC)

Red tree

look, I took a pic of a red Christmas tree, - we wrote the article of the place together, remember? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:02, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

what is it? I'll miss you, - can't you wait until after ten years precious ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:04, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Revisions deleted

As I mentioned on my talk page, I've removed that list of accounts - I've also revision deleted those revisions, which is somewhat against policy (and I will be required to revert those deletions if anyone complains) but I hope goes some way to convince you to stick around. I apologise again, I'm sorry -- TNT (talk • she/her) 10:17, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ivermectin

I concede that my own suspicions of the pandemic have no place on Wikipedia, even my talk page, but what I think has absolutely no bearing on content except I think neutrality has been badly affected on any person or topic questioning the narrative.

All I did was point out out these sources

“Uttar Pradesh was the first state in the country to introduce large-scale prophylactic and therapeutic use of Ivermectin. The India Express via MSN.

Quote: "He said that apart from aggressive contact tracing and surveillance, the lower positivity and fatality rates may be attributed to the large-scale use of Ivermectin use in the state, adding that the drug has recently been introduced in the National Protocol for Covid treatment and management. “Once the second wave subsides, we would conduct our own study as there has been an emerging body of evidence to substantiate our timely use of Ivermectin from the first wave itself,” Vikasendu told The Indian Express.

Philippine Daily Inquirer : "Uttar Pradesh is ivermectin’s best practice success story" In two weeks’ time, the cases in the ivermectin-using states started to drop by half, and in six weeks, they achieved 85- to 90-percent reduction in cases. In three months, the cases further decreased by 95 percent to 99.9 percent compared to peak levels. For several months now, many states are enjoying near-normal, pre-COVID activities.

Here is an extract from a research institute in Japan [1] written in Japanese:

Approximately 80 clinical trials have been reported, mainly in developing countries, that ivermectin, a silver bullet for antiparasitic diseases discovered by Dr. Satoshi Omura of Kitasato University, is effective against coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

Many doctors in the United States and the United Kingdom have insisted that they be used for prevention and treatment as "effective", but pharmaceutical companies and government authorities are also moving to prevent their use, saying that "clinical trials are insufficient".

Japan has approved the use of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19, subject to the agreement of doctors and patients, but there is no intention to actively approve it. We should take the initiative in confirming the effects of the drug.

https://www.monash.edu/discovery-institute/news-and-events/news/2021-articles/monash-university-update-on-ivermectin-research one of them], though they said it was initial research. The original paper is here "The FDA-approved drug ivermectin inhibits the replication of SARS-CoV-2 in vitro".

Role of ivermectin in the prevention of SARS-CoV-2 infection among healthcare workers in India: A matched case-control study National Library of Medicine. "Two-dose ivermectin prophylaxis at a dose of 300 μg/kg with a gap of 72 hours was associated with a 73% reduction of SARS-CoV-2 infection among healthcare workers for the following month. "

OK, I wasn't aware that scientific papers on trials werent acceptable but it's fair play to mention them. Within an hour of posting them they want me completely topic banned from not only COVID but all medical articles. Does that seem right, given that I never edit articles on the pandemic anyway, much less try to push conspiracy theories on Wikipedia?? It's an extreme overreaction. I have no intention of pursuing this in the future but it looks more like they're afraid of what I'll find on other articles. This is not right people to be treated this way.

I fully support racial equality and justice and understand some have genuinely suffered. I support that, I don't support it when it is used to push a wider agenda. BLM in Chicago for instance were chanting "the only way is communism" a few weeks back.₪ Encyclopædius 11:46, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's wrong. A few people in a crowd were heard changing "The only solution is communist revolution" - you're making it sound as though it was some sort of official BLM slogan. I also see a big banner about revolution by a group I never heard of. I don't see mainstream sources backing your claim.[2] Doug Weller talk 16:11, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ah that was it. I'm not saying it was an official slogan or anything. ₪ Encyclopædius 18:30, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Retirement

A comment from me in case you would like to keep editing or to come back after a break... I saw on your user page something about second chances. In case a topic ban results, even if indefinite, it doesn't mean forever and can be appealed (also true for sitebans). Since you have done extensive editing before, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to appeal after 3-6 months showing evidence of more constructive editing in other areas. Another statement is about free speech but WP has never really been about that... What happens on WP is also a parallel world, editors can of course write elsewhere, can believe what they chose, come from many backgrounds, have a real life, etc. No matter if you chose to really retire or not, thank you for your many contributions. If you are leaving, farewell, —PaleoNeonate00:59, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks PaleoNeonate, but a topic ban of any kind is honestly not necessary, I tend to only really look at the case figures every week or two on the UK article and never edit articles on it, I'm happier trying to ignore the subject entirely, certainly on Wikipedia. It's not as if I hacked all the articles on COVID and spewed them with anti-vaxx posters and info/disinfo LOL!! My point is mainly fair documentation and neutrality rather than any heated passion for COVID treatments, I certainly don't buy into all of the claims about Ivermectin being put out, and you have to beware of those with an anti-vaxx/Big Pharma agenda pushing it too but I think the success in parts of India is legit and should be mentioned. I'd like to see a balanced discussion on TV with scientists and doctors with various view points, but we never see that do we? That's part of the problem in that there's such extreme differences in views, even from those who were former Big Pharma or top microbiologists, either side says the other is spreading misinformation. ₪ Encyclopædius 18:21, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It may not be necessary but I'm not the one who will make or apply the decision, so far at least one admin agrees that it's not necessary, it seems. —PaleoNeonate22:11, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ah you love jazz, that figures, me too. Some Shakuhachi fusion and Aydin Esen for you, phenomenal improviser! Alan Pasqua is a fine keyboardist but a wonderful pianist too with a great touch, beautiful album Solo I would rather spend my time working on a Bill Evans tune or something than on here arguing about the virus! If I'd said in January last year that there would be passports and mandates they'd have said "Big threat to content, must be banned, he's conspiracy-minded".... Really?? :-) There may be some articles in journals in Japanese but I'm not going to bother pursuing it.₪ Encyclopædius 08:27, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the music, will check soon. I'm a bit familiar with Pasqua (and of course know about Evans) but don't remember for the others, —PaleoNeonate21:10, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You won't have heard of Zinger, a young sax player who has developed with the Shakuhachi flute. Aydin is one of those virtuosos most people have never heard of. There's a few from Turkey on the Arabic jazz scene who are exceptional musicians. † Encyclopædius 09:16, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WP:AE

I reverted your changes at WP:AE. Please do not change your text to where it means something different than before. Making spelling fixes and minor things are fine, but fundamentally changing the content and tone of your (old) statement is not proper. You are free to strike sentences, hat areas and add more material, but fundamentally changing your prose breaks the continuity of the discussion and is misleading to observers. Once someone has replied to a statement, it should be preserved, and only modified in the ways I have described. Dennis Brown - 19:57, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ah good old Dennis, long time no see..₪ Encyclopædius 20:02, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

 • Sorry it turned out harsher than I hoped for. I don't like indef sanctions until it is a truly lost cause situation, which I didn't see it as it isn't. There was enough split of opinion that it would have been improper for me to close myself with a lesser topic ban, but the writing was on the wall, that a topic ban was going to happen, one way or another. Take some time off if you need, but I hope you don't really leave. I doubt you will really leave. enwp is pretty much in your blood, more so than mine in fact. Lick the wounds and find something else to work on. It's not like that was a topic you visited regularly. In a year, go to AN or AE and ask for the restriction to be lifted. It likely will. Dennis Brown - 22:06, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

AE

Hi. I wanted to apologize for my comment on AE. I definitely did not do my homework and, obviously, you're not the kind of editor I was describing. I'm sorry.--RegentsPark (comment) 19:21, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure Piotrus and a few of the others didn't look much into it and think "hang on, Blofeld has been here 15 years and never says anything like that". I'd never even visited that medical guideline page much less read the bloated page as I don't edit medical articles. Remarkable how newspapers are unacceptable for that but shoddy "fact checker" sites and newspapers are fine to right off the entire careers of those opposing. I wouldn't have even looked at the article anyway but for an IP asking about the 40 papers. † Encyclopædius 08:35, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey thanks for that! Love the images! Nice to see something positive on here! Yes let's hope this year will be better than the last two!!† Encyclopædius 14:27, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Sarvar Abdullaev Sobitovich has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Apparently not a member of the Uzbek legislature but some kind of functionary. Nothing found in Uzbek, Russian or English except Wikipedia mirrors.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Could it be a transliteration issue? I thought those were created from a list.† Encyclopædius 09:06, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fissini Street

Hi and happy new year. I understand from this talkpage that there's a lot going on with you and Wikipedia mods, but I'm not here to get involved with that.

In 2008, it seems you made a page about something called "Fissini Street Archeological Collection" as a museum in Patras. That page is now redirected to Patras, but the Wikidata item is still there and I'm trying to find more about that. I don't know much about Patras yet, but I can't find any Fissini Street, nor any separate archaeological collection (that is outside of the Archaeological Museum of Patras"). I would like to ask you where did you find out about that "museum" and what else you know about it. Even its exact location would help.

Thanks in advance.--Jimkats (talk) 22:06, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Happy new year, in friendship! - One of my pics is on the Main page, DYK? - In this young year, I enjoyed meetings with friends in real life, and wish you many of those, - better than Wikipedia. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:36, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
