Of her time on [[The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore|The Nightly Show]], she said, "I loved that we had to do a show every night. One way or another, this is airing at 11:30. You have to make it happen. Sometimes you wouldn't have the perfect show. News would break really late, you'd get everything late. Crazy things would happen. And just because the show had to air, you would have to make some cut that didn't make any sense, 'cause 'hey man, show's gotta go to air.' It's kind of a nice life lesson that some days go better than others. Some days are gonna look beautiful and be great, some aren't. But at the end of the day, you have to move on to the next one, because you've got another show that's gonna air at 11:30 all over again."<ref name=":3" />

Aurora De Lucia (born June 25, 1990[1][2]) is an American television editor and producer who's made over 1,000 episodes of television.[3][4]

She's an affiliate member of the American Cinema Editors,[5] and a union member of IATSE local 700,[6] Actors Equity Association,[7] and SAG-AFTRA.[8] She's also in the Producers Guild.[9]

In her personal life, she has completed philanthropic projects based in athleticism,[10][11] and is an avid game show player.[12]

Career

De Lucia has worked for a number of critically acclaimed shows such as The Daily Show,[13] Project Runway: Threads, and The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.[14]

She specializes in political shows, currently working on Battleground, hosted by S.E. Cupp. Additionally, Aurora was a producer and editor on The Carlos Watson Show, working on episodes featuring Pete Buttigieg,[15] Anita Hill,[16] Gretchen Whitmer.[17]

She also often works in the social justice space,[18] including shows led by LeBron James,[19] and Ava DuVernay.[20]

Of her time on The Nightly Show, she said, "I loved that we had to do a show every night. But at the end of the day, you have to move on to the next one, because you've got another show that's gonna air at 11:30 all over again."[21]

On editing political comedy, she said "Comedy is a song. It has a rhythm to it and you want to get it right. You have to be able to make sure the comedy sings in the way it's supposed to."[21]

De Lucia has a Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music, with a double major in Music Production for & Engineering and Electronic Production & Design, and a dual minor in Creative Coding and Sound Design for Video Games.[22]

Athletic philanthropic projects

52 Half Marathons in 52 Weeks After Open-Heart Surgery

From January 2012 - January 2013, Aurora ran 52 half marathons in 52 weeks,[23] after open-heart surgery for a rare case of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome,[24] raising money for the charity Broadway Impact, in support of marriage equality.[25][26]

Lake Tahoe News called her "bubbly, giggly, talkative, and undeniably motivated."[24] And Havasu News covered her as inspirational.[27]

When talking about her 52 half marathon project Cory Booker said she "blows him away."[28]

She also was featured in Mensa Magazine in an article about Running and Brain.[29] Aurora also won the Spirt Award, meant to "recognize individuals who inspire and embody perseverance and strength," from the Columbus Marathon,[30] and was featured as a "life changer" in Women's Running Magazine, in the May 2013 issue.[31]

De Lucia told Disney Sports "I'm going to Disney World," and ran her last race of the series in Orlando Florida,[32][33] which RunDisney tweeted about.[34]

At the end of her 52 half marathons, Keepsake Theme Quilts, a quilting company promoting diversity and hiring nearly all deaf workers, made her a quilt of her 52 shirts from her various races.[35]

At the end of her project, CNN'S HLN named her as the "True Champion of the Day."[36]

Project 882

From January 2017 - January 13, 2018, Aurora ran "Project 882" - 882 race miles in a year to represent the 882 Americans sexually assaulted every day.[37][38]

During her project, she appeared as a panelist on the Dr Oz show to talk about sexual abuse.[39][40]

De Lucia received a letter from Hillary Clinton, supporting her in Project 882.[41]

Game show(s) contestant

De Lucia has appeared on multiple games shows. She won a car on The Price is Right.[42][43]

On Wheel of Fortune, she won a trip to Barbados,[44] despite going viral for being "hilariously devastated"[45] at missing the Bonus Round.

She was zonked on Let's Make a Deal.[46]

Publications such as Mental Floss,[47] Buzzfeed,[48] ABC News,[49] Medium,[50] and Good Housekeeping[51] have used her personal experience, and expertise on how taxes work on game show winnings, for their publications.

Personal life

Aurora De Lucia was born on June 25, 1990 in Los Angeles, California[21]

She was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson White after passing out in a college class; after many failed ablations and complications (such as a blood clot on her heart), she had open-heart surgery.[26] She regularly gives blood, and is type O+.[53] She was inspired to go into the entertainment industry because of Michael Jackson and chose to go to Berklee College of Music because Quincy Jones went there.[21]

She moved to New York for The Nightly Show with no notice. She lived in California and while she was in New York for the interview, the interviewer said 'we love you, if you want this job, you have to start tomorrow.' So, she took the job, and on her way out the door, called her current boss in California and quit, called her roommate and said she was sending rent but not coming back, extended her initially one-night hotel stay and started the job the next day.[21]

She said her first hint that she may have begun to 'make it' in the industry was when, on the day of the final episode of The Nightly Show, she thanked her then-boss Jon Stewart that he had changed her whole life, and he said 'thank you, but no. You changed your own life. Every person in this building is here because they are some of the best at what they do - and that includes you. It was your creativity and tenacity and talent. You got yourself here. It was you. It wasn’t me.[21]
