Updating this page
Hi. My name is Christin Di Scipio and I work at Turo. The current page is outdated. It doesn't include Turo's international expansion, latest funding rounds, etc. Additionally, many of our competitor pages have a section on safety the Turo page appears to be missing. I've put together some proposed changes here with strikeouts and bolding to indicate trims and new content respectively, that I would like to suggest as a way of bringing the page up-to-date. As I have a conflict of interest, I am prodding for feedback on the suggested changes from disinterested editors.
Christin at Turo (talk) 17:52, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- It looks good to me, except don't replace "renter" with "traveler", per WP:EUPHEMISM and Wikipedia:Use plain English, and leave out the "Safety" section. The preceding paragraph mentions $1 million insurance; that's sufficient detail. Mention that Liberty Mutual is an investor in the company, in addition to being the insurance vendor. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 19:09, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, Dennis. I just revised the draft so feel free to take a look. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Christin at Turo (talk • contribs) 22:36, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
Requested move 4 May 2018
- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: no consensus to move the page at this time, per the discussion below, although I will create a redirect from the proposed title to this page. Dekimasuよ! 02:45, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
Turo (car rental) → Turo (car sharing) – <Turo is not a car rental company, it is a car sharing company. Other car sharing companies including Getaround and Drivey are classified as car sharing on Wikipedia and it is important for Turo to be classified in the correct category as well> Christin at Turo (talk) 22:38, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
- Neutral seems pretty uncontroversial. However, I see that Turo's website refers specifically to "car rental."[1]
- Oppose. The evidence just presented by Mathmitch7 is pretty conclusive -- even Turo sees itself as a rental company. NewYorkActuary (talk) 16:09, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

July 2018 cleanup
I edited this article significantly. It needed a cleanup. It read like a corporate brochure touting the company, as indeed it had to because much of it was written by Christin at Turo, who works for Turo. This is an encyclopedia, not an advertising venue. Chisme (talk) 17:30, 2 July 2018 (UTC)
- I just looked over all of your edits and they all seemed fine. Thank you! - - mathmitch7 (talk/contribs) 00:24, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
Proposed 2020 changes
I am the Senior Policy Communications Associate at Turo. I would like to share some proposed updates to correct out-dated or erroneous information in the page, so that independent, impartial editors have an opportunity to review and provide any feedback. Please take a look and let me know what you think. I would also like to ping @Dennis Bratland: who reviewed some of our proposed changes in the past Jroeyturo (talk) 20:18, 8 July 2020 (UTC)

My name is Carmen and I work for Turo. Pursuant to WP:COI, I'd like to request an impartial editor consider the following proposed changes:
- 1. In Infobox
− | Formerly: RelayRides | + | Formerly: RelayRides (2009–2015)
Founded: August 2009
|
- Explanation: Most sources say Turo was founded as "RelayRides" in 2009 (when the company was founded) [6][7][8][9]. However, some good sources say it was founded in 2010 (when the service was launched)[10][11]. Since this is a company infobox/page, I think 2009 (when the company was founded) is the right year. Unfortunately, the sources are not always clear about whether they are specifying the year the company, or the service, was launched, leading to some confusion.
- 2. Add to Lead
− | + | As of March 2024, the site has about 360,000 active listings from 160,000 active hosts.
|
- Explanation: Adding some content about the size/scope of the service. Similar content was deleted, because it was uncited. This version is cited to TechCrunch. The citations don't show in the "diff" view, but it is in the wikicode.

- 3. Change in History section
− | In | + | In November 2018, Turo introduced a new in-car device allowing GPS monitoring and remote unlocking through the Turo app.
|
- Explanation: Replacing content about the announcement of future plans with the date the service was actually introduced.

- 4. Add to History Section
− | + | In 2022, Turo acquired another car sharing service in France called OuiCar, for an undisclosed amount. It expanded to the U.S. state of New York in June 2022 after the passing of a peer-to-peer car sharing bill in the state, SB 6715. Turo expanded to Australia later that year.
|
- Explanation: Adding more cited content about international expansion, cited to independent news articles. The citations do not seem to show in the "diff" view, but they are below and wiki-coded in the content above.
