Song |
All Summer Long is the 3rd single from Rock N Roll Jesus, the 9th studio album by Kid Rock. The song uses samples from Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London" and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama", which feature the same chord progression. The latter features Billy Powell on piano. The theme is a Northern Michigan based coming of age tale about a young man and his first love in 1989, who fall in love to the song "Sweet Home Alabama". The girl was 17 when Kid Rock was 18. Years later every time he hears that song he thinks back to her and those days and longs to see her again.
The mash up was created by Mike E Clark.
The song was the official theme song for WWE's Backlash 2008.
The song has become his second crossover hit ("Picture" being the first) as it has charted on Billboard's Adult Top 40, Adult Contemporary, Mainstream Rock, Modern Rock, and Country formats. It also has charted worldwide going to #1 in Austria and Germany and #79 in Canada.[citation needed]
