Thanks for uploading Image:Nox.png. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Quadratic form (statistics)

Hello. I just came across this article. It was not in the list of statistical topics, so I added it. If you have created other articles that belong on that list and are not there, could you add them?

The term quadratic form doesn't actually mean anything different from what it means in other areas of mathematics; it's just that one is using quadratic forms in a particular way. The article should probably reflect that. Michael Hardy 19:58, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Spelling

"Fulfil" is the British spelling, and "fulfill" is the American spelling. Planet had already established itself as using the British spelling ("barycentre" etc.), and so should use "fulfil". — Wereon 00:02, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Statistician help needed

The WikiProject Vandalism Studies (Wikipedia:WikiProject Vandalism studies) just finished its first study and I was hoping that you being a statistician could help us formalize our findings. You can find our draft conclusions here [1]. Here's an excerpt of what we found so far:

The current study analyzed a sample pool of 100 random articles. Within these 100 articles there were a total of 668 edits during the months of November 2004, 2005, and 2006. Of those 668 edits, 31 (or 4.64%) were a vandalism of some type. The study's salient findings suggest that in a given month approximately 5% of edits are vandalism and 97% of that vandalism is done by anonymous editors. Obvious vandalism is the vast majority of vandalism used. From the data gathered within this study it is also found that roughly 25% of vandalism reverting is done by anonymous editors and roughly 75% is done by wikipedians with user accounts. The mean average time vandalism reverting is 758.35 minutes (12.63 hours), a figure that may be skewed by outliers. The median time vandalism reverting is 14 minutes.

Whenever you have a major change to Wikipedia

...like, for example, if you notice that numerous, numerous articles have something "wrong" with them, it's usually a good idea to take it to talk first. If your suggestion is a good one, it will reach consensus quickly, and chances are you won't even need to do most of the work to implement the change. If your suggestion is a mistaken one, as it was with {{lowercase}}-ing a bunch of articles, then you'll have saved yourself a lot of work that is going to be reverted anyway. Box-Cox distribution

I've just added this to the list of statistical topics. Again, if you know of other articles suitable for inclusion that aren't there, could you add them?

That list has long been essentially a bare list with no organization. I think it would be possible to bifurcate it into two lists, one like the list of mathematics articles and one and organized list like the list of geometry topics.

I've thought, although not systematically, of organizing a statistics WikiProject, just as there is a mathematics WikiProject (at Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics) whose talk page (at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mathematics) functions as a forum for general discussion of articles in the field. I have generated a knowledge evolution map to denote your knowledge activities in Wikipedia according to your inputs including the creation and modification of contents in Wikipedia, and I need you to validate whether the generated knowledge evolution map matches the knowledge that you perceive you own it.
