Corey Taylor

Corey Todd Taylor (born December 8, 1973), also known by his number #8 is an American musician known as the lead vocalist of Slipknot and Stone Sour.

Solo career

In an interview with Billboard.com, Corey confirmed on January 13th, 2009 that he is planning on making a solo album as well as returning to Stone Sour after the more popular Slipknot's 2009 touring cycle. "I know I have this album that I need to make," Taylor told Billboard.com, "and I'm the kind of guy that if I can't get that done then it's going to hold me back from all this other stuff I want to do. I just know I've got to make it or I can't branch out."Additionally, he stated during a broadcast of Loveline that he had met with Stone Sour and was planning to be in the studio in the early quarter of 2010.

Corey added that he has been writing songs for a while that don't fit either band. He describes it as a cross between Foo Fighters, Johnny Cash, and Social Distortion, saying that there's "a Country background that comes built-in with living in Iowa". However, Corey promises that there will still be many upbeat rock songs as well.

Masks

During his first appearance with Slipknot, Corey Taylor didn't wear any mask. Instead, he wore make-up and is sometimes said to dress up as a priest onstage. During the self-titled era Taylor wore two masks; one in 1998, which was white and had holes in it. His real dreadlocks stuck out from the holes. The second, worn from 1999-2000, is darker in color. During Slipknot's Iowa era he had the same mask, except it is more professional in its design. He, removed his hair from dreadlocks and ponytailed his hair under the mask, and taped the dreadlocks onto the mask. His eyes and mouth were now more visible, as well. During the Vol. 3 era Corey Taylor wore two different masks. One that was slime green and had stitches down the middle, with the mouth being smashed to the right. The other was almost a brownish red color. After the unveiling of the All Hope Is Gone masks, Corey Taylor wore and continues to wear three masks. One of them with green and one eye-hole being round; the other being a target and lacking the green-coloring near the mouth. The third is nearly identical to the first two, it is, however, near entirely white, with only subtle gray decorations located around the headline.

Personal

In an interview with Fitz Madrid from 98 KUPD in Phoenix, Arizona he stated that "he loves to read" and and thinks people need to do more of it. Also thoroughly enjoyed the movie "Witchboard." A self-confessed car fanatic, Taylor currently owns a Range Rover "L322". He also grew up not knowing his father until 2006 at the age of 32. They've grown a strong relationship since then. Corey is divorced to his long-term wife Scarlett whom he has several tattoo's on his body. Corey has kept a strong relationship with all other family members over the years including first cousin, Kurt Dyrwal, whom is said to be one of very few of the Taylor family that do not reside in Waterloo or Des Moines, IA.
