The contest is held by the [[EBU]] and was based on the [[Eurovision Song Contest]], which takes place annually since [[1956]]. Only members of the [[European Broadcasting Union]] may take part in the contest. 27 countries have taken part between 2003 and 2008.The [[grey]] colour represents the countries who have withdrawn.

  • A ^ VRT and RTBF previously alternated responsibilities for the Contest. VRT, however, is now Belgium's sole representative in the Junior Contest.
  • B ^ Sveriges Television (SVT) was responsible for the representation of Sweden from 2003 until 2005. TV4 took over in 2006.
