Simsbury High School is a secondary school located in Simsbury, Connecticut. The school was ranked number 9 in Connecticut Magazine's list of Top Connecticut Public High Schools.[1]

Simsbury High School offers 33 varsity sports with 72 competitive teams that involve over 1180 individual students. The athletic program has been honored multiple times with the Michaels Achievement Cup for outstanding achievement in athletics in the state of Connecticut.[2] About 75% of the student body is involved in clubs and activities. Justin Foley, drummer for metalcore band Killswitch Engage, graduated from Simsbury High in 1994. Nick Shapiro ('98), the all time Men's Ice Hockey leading scorer, was recently named a Press Secretary in President Obama's administration.[3]

Academic achievements

SHS students ranked highly in CT on the Connecticut Academic Performance Test, scoring at or above 97% percent proficient in all categories in 2007 and 2008.[4]

From the Class of 2005, 93% attended four-year and two-year colleges and universities.

Simsbury High School was selected as having one of the top 100 outstanding music programs in the United States.[5]

In 2005, the mean SAT score was 1162.[6]

Simsbury High School is a member of the Central Connecticut Conference, overseen by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference for public school sports in the state of Connecticut.
